  4. Good. Sh!thead is getting on my nerves.

  5. 24-17, Butch finally goes down.

  6. I understand Esteban about the players not performing in practice and then not getting the chance in games. At some point though we’ve seen what certain players can or can’t do… give our depth a chance.

We’ve all heard about some players being “gamers”, meaning they don’t practice well but show up in games, let’s see if we got any gamers who haven’t stepped on the field yet.

And it’s not irrevocable. The “starter” can go right back in if his back up screws up. But that also might get the “starter” more focused and get better results from him.

(I’m just a bit frustrated with coaches saying one thing and doing another. Sick of hearing how the Dolphins only go after healthy players and then every offensive lineman they sign in free agency gets cut because of injuries. Whipple saying we’ll rotate the receivers when they drop the ball (remember that one guys?)… well HELLO!?! We’ve had some drops. Shannon preaching competition and then not playing the kids he brings in. Why is Colin starting at MLB this week?)

  7. And I can’t watch your break it down @ work but I’ll check it later, I’m sure its great! Are U wearing a halloween costume next week?

  8. Turnovers in Miami. They’ve been the Hurricanes’ downfall in three straight losses to UNC, as Miami has 10 turnovers to UNC’s one during that span. But UNC isn’t the only team that can force mistakes. If UNC quarterback T.J. Yates is finally going to slip up again, there’s a good chance it happens on Saturday against a defensive line that helped Miami lead the nation in tackles for loss and rank fourth in the country in sacks.

The red zone in Miami. North Carolina leads the ACC in red zone offense having converted on 22 of 24 trips inside the 20-yard line. The Tar Heels have scored 16 touchdowns and made 6-of-7 field goal attempts. UNC is the only team in the ACC that hasn’t turned it over in the red zone this season. Miami hasn’t been as fortunate. The Canes have lost possession six times inside the 20, including three turnovers. Miami has scored 15 touchdowns in 26 trips in the red zone, but UNC and Miami have the No. 2 and No. 3 red zone defenses in the ACC, respectively.

  9. Este great job as usual!

The thing I love about the Break it downs is I don’t have to read!! Hate reading!!

Autum I saw your post from the previous blog LMAO!!! Good stuff. I don’t know what that jerkoff was all about.

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  10. Canez1, are you training your liver for Saturday?

I am off jello shot duty this week (Adam is making his yummy ones) but I might pick up some other yummy stuff at the liquor store in honor of your trip down and our 5 hours of tailgating fun! :-)

I dont see the Canes scoroing 38pts on that UNC defense. their defense is the best defense the Canes offense will face all year. They are better than Ohio St, Clemson and FS’s defense.

    Canes win 23-13.

    ACCCG or bust!

    Go Canes!

  14. JSQ I am going to wine it up tonight with my love and then Friday I have a dinner party to hit and will continue the beating.

The old boy should be in good shape by Sat.

    He’s tough.

  15. A liver is a Liver….. remember.

  17. BEER IN GERMANY:

    just finished the 177th oktoberfest.

in germany, beer is a centuries-old industry, governed by the world’s oldest food law – the 1516 Reinheitsgebot (purity law).

in 1991 the average german quaffed 142 litres of beer

but in 2009 that figure sunk to 110 litres.

(wonder what the average american football fan’s intake is).

in germany, local breweries dominate . . . there are 1300 breweries in germany, which is more than all the rest of europe combined.

    oktoberfest anyone?

  18. Lol, that sounds like excellent training! Tell Sara hello for me! Did you tell her about my Thanksgiving get together? I hope you guys can do both! :-)

  19. I’m really hoping the Canes prove me wrong, but my head is telling me 20-14 UNC..

  20. Autumn, that’s actually just a technical issue dealing with the key. no nail polish for me.

  21. Ya I told her and she was like ya Mary already invited us?????

I’m like huh?? Must of been in Columbus or something.

She was trying to weasel her way in for this weekend but she is going to show in the city with her mom and some family peeps so she could’nt make it happen.

Pu$$y!!!!LOL She is catching the fever. Not good!

We will definitely try to make it. Probably later on in the day after all the other crap.

404 is looking to hit the hard rock one night too. They will be down for the week. We will have to schedule a Canes night out with everyone.

    GOOD STUFF!!!

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  22. In the NFL Network’s SoundFX from last week’s NFL action, there was a funny pregame exchange between Chicago Bears superstar return man Devin Hester, a University of Miami alum, and Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who coached at Southern Cal while Hester was finishing up at Riviera Beach’s Suncoast High School in 2002:

Hester: “Hey Pete, you know what I always wanted to ask you?”

    Carroll: “What’s that?”

Hester: “Why’d you never recruit me out of [Riviera Beach's Suncoast] high school?”

Text alerts: Get Miami Hurricanes news on your phone

    Carroll: “I don’t know. How’d we miss it? I don’t know.”

Hester: “I was the No. 2 corner, and we played in the CaliFlorida all-star game. Won MVP of the game and everything. I should have gotten my letter from that game.”

Then, Carroll tossed the blame for the oversight into the lap of current Trojans coach Lane Kiffin, who was an assistant for the USC then.

Carroll: “Lane Kiffin. That was Lane Kiffin’s area at the time. Lane should have figured that out.”

Later, after Hester tied Brian Mitchell’s NFL record with his 13th career return touchdown in the game against the Seahawks, he revisited the perceived snub, telling a Bears teammate: “Pete Carroll, dog. I never got a letter from him, dog.”

  23. Hard Rock would be fun with everyone! :-)

I must have said something about thinking of a Thanksgiving thing to her during our tipsy heart to heart talk before we left Buffalo Wild Wings. We were talking about the issue which is the reason my usual Thanksgiving plans “fell through” – which is the understatment of the century.

I will probably have an open house type of thing starting at 3pm and going until last man standing and people can just hit up a buffet of food and drinks and sit around and watch football. Laid back.

  24. Love it!!

    Count us in!

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  25. Yay! You might finally get to meet my lawn man, aka, Ben! He and Janice (his mom) are coming too!

Canechic, you said you were going to stop by too, right?

    Truth?

  26. Yes I will you will be in W20? We generally park in W23 but not sure how this is going to work on Sat.

  27. Yeah, Canechic, W20.

I was actually talking about Thanksgiving but I want you to stop by on Saturday, too!!!! :-)

  28. Jamericane has 2 tickets to sell $35 a piece in the lower bowl if anyone is interested.

  29. Initial Thanksgiving menu thoughts:

    Apps:

    Stuffed Mushrooms
    Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

    Main Course:

Turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce (duh)
Goat cheese, cranberry and candied pecan salad
    Mac n Cheese

    Desserts:

    Magic Bars
    Mini Pumpkin Pies

Any other ideas? I feel like I’m missing something obvious!

  30. Well imagine you are an OC and your QB has missed at least 7-10 TD passes either on overthrows/underthrows or INTs…

And then add to that, your WRs/TEs drop 30 balls every 4 games… Not to mention that in the biggest rivalry game of the year, your offense goes down by 21 in a quarter and a half…. How is your play calling not going to be predictable?

I’m not excusing Whip of all blame but when I watch the games, he tries to call some good series but dropped passes, QB sacks, false starts, and illegal shift always set the offense back… Not to mention the INTs!!

That Duke game should’ve been won by at least two more TDs… On the first series (not the one where Coop fumbled) the one where Hank dropped the 40 yard bomb on the corner route when #12 dropped it in there perfectly could have been six if he would’ve caught it cleanly the first time and if he had caught it after the bobble, he would have still had a first down…. And then on another series, we’re going into Duke’s red zone when Damien Berry fumbles…

And then in the second half and 4th & 2, Jacory overthrows Travis Benjamin in a play that would’ve been called offsides if this were futbol (soccer)because TB was behind everybody… It was 6…. I’ve seen the deep pass to Richard Gordon criticized but the kid was open (minus the non-call by the ref on the Duke kid hanging on his right arm)…

The offense has no safety valve because Chase Ford is always knocked off his routes… The kid needs to drink some more muscle milk because he is weak and soft…

As far as the offense being predicable, that’s fine with me… But our WRs still get open and our RBs still get yards so what difference does it make? Man if these guys catch the ball and Jacory puts it where it needs to be THE WHOLE game, we score at least 21 more a game…

Coaches are always going to get criticized… Remember when the Pats lost to the Colts last year because they didn’t get the 4&1 that would’ve iced the game? We all know that Bill Belichick is no slouch but even he is not immune to criticism as was evidenced by the back lash after that game…

I try to rationalize this thing and take all feelings out of it (before and after the game, but not during) and as far as I can tell, dropped balls, penalties on the OL, and bad throws are what has hindered this offense… I think we should run the ball more as we have proven we can, Jacory needs to stop trying to make his stat sheet read 8TD passes/game and pull the ball down more (the kid has wheels) and I think he has done that, and finally if these WRs don’t wanna catch the ball, put the DBs in the game at WR, lmao…

  31. Daggumit… I forgot to talk about the inconsistent line play… You can’t block good 3 out of four plays and think thats going to cut it… Just doesn’t work like that!!

  32. Duh – Mashed Potato Bar!

Canez1, go light on the first meal!

  33. DAT.

I feel sorry for the Nole if he has to get Caned.

Lol Truth didnt I ask you this earlier this week…

    Interview with Dan Morgan

The Hurricanes seemed flat against both Florida State and Duke. Is there enough passion on this team?

“I think there’s guys on the team that show passion, there’s spurts of it. But like everything else, nothing is consistent with this team. I just don’t think there is that leader on this team. And another thing that makes me worry about this team and this [Saturday’s] game is the early-morning practices. Randy has these kids waking up at 5 a.m. to practice. I’m just beginning to wonder and question practicing that early. It’s got to be making these guys tired, especially for night games. I don’t think that they’re having fun out there, either. And I’m starting to wonder why. It’s got to be wearing, not only physically but mentally. I just don’t know how much young guys get accomplished waking up that early in the morning, even in the meeting room.”

  43. They practiced early when Dan Morgan was on the team, too. Maybe not as early, but still very early. Maybe an hour difference.

People sure do have short memories . . .

  44. Dan Morgan gets a pass on the memory though. He’s had A LOT of head injuries.

  45. I will definitely be down for Va. tech.

  46. Nice, Rashad. I have a big menu planned for that game. I have a lot of friends coming into town (sorority sisters . . . holla!). Come hungry!

  48. HOLLA!!!!!!! I’ll make sure I have a fresh haircut for that one..lol…Someone please make me feel better about a Canes win on Saturday.

  49. avatar
    The Truth says:

And you are correct JSQ…Ol Butch used to have em on the field right around 7ish…at least for the last couple of years…Where do you think Randy comes up with these ideas??

I Love Dan Morgan but he’s really saying things that are just not fair…

  50. avatar
    The Truth says:

No can do Rashad. If UNC scores more than 20 I don’t see Miami winning…

Until proven otherwise I gotta go with my gut and my gut says UNC’s D is going to eat Jacory alive again…

  51. avatar
    The Truth says:

And yeah…who wakes up early every day to go work? I mean, who does that??!!

I once heard the proverb “early to bed, early to rise…” and I was all like “ppfffttt! F that!”

I guess the team should alternate practice based on game times now…don’t ALL coaches do at??

  52. I feel the same way Truth. Im going 20-14 UNC. Too many things going against Miami. Injured QB, inconsistent offense, and the inability the step up in the big game. It hurts to type that :(

  53. Hey Truth, STFU! ;-) The ‘Canes are gonna win!

I thought so re: Butch and practice. I remember hearing those boys b!tch about waking up early like it was yesterday. It isn’t anything new. I think Randy is just an hour earlier.

And you can do TWO Thanksgivings, smart guy. It’s going all night just like [insert dirty joke here].

  54. Rashad! WTF?!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS!

    WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

  55. It’s like you didn’t know Canez1 is coming to town or something . . . THEY HAVE TO WIN!

    GRRRRRRR!!!!

Y’all are pi$$ing me off! I’m going to go talk to some crocs in the office about the mess their season has become to cheer myself up.

  56. avatar
    KLCaneFan says:

Of course we’re gonna win! How else are we gonna get Hurriphin to stop calling himself Sh!thead!

  57. Im sorry JSQ…My head is telling me 20-14 UNC, but my heart is saying 23-14 Canes.

  58. I am all heart when it comes to the ‘Canes, no head is involved whatsoever.

[soft ball pitched to Truth to lighten this place up a bit!]

  59. Thats true..I’ll see how my head feels on Gameday.

  60. avatar
    The Truth says:

JSQ…you’re one of the “good” girls, and I know that means there’s always head involved

    …with a twisty to boot!

    Graaaaaaaaand Slaaaaaaaaaaaaam!

  61. Eh, not so much a grand slam as sliding into third . . .

[JSQ hits ball back in Truth's court]

  62. If we lose this week Thanksgiving is cancelled!!

How can we be talking about how this team has progressed in one breathe and then have no faith in us beating UNC AT HOME in the other.

When was the last time you truly believed UNC was going to beat us????

Your heart is contradicting your mind.

This team has not progressed well at all except for a few standouts. It’s all an illusion. The talent is just getting better in most areas and is carrying the putrid coaching until we meet up with a solid team and get totally exposed.

    HUFFFFFF!!!!

Oh and by the way I just listened to the Luke interview with Sid. Luke is a complete moron and why is he actually around anymore I will never know.

What did Sid say that wasn’t on the money??

You might not like his delivery but he was on point in that interview. Uncle Puke dumbed the whole thing down.

    Double HUFFFFF!!!!!

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  63. Canez1, in light of your last comment, I changed the seating arrangements for the ride to the stadium.

You are riding in the “trunk” now and the cooler will be in the passenger seat.

    ;-)

  64. Wait, did you just ask why Luke is still around? Seriously?

You must not be familiar with his art:

  68. I thought you were always packing a big boy bat, Truth?

  69. Wow Canez1, tell us how you really feel lol.

It’s not as bad as you think, but it’s far from great. Lighten up, Francis.

Seriously though, Luke is a bit past his prime. He was the man in the 80’s, but Michael Bolton was an icon in that decade too (ouch).

  70. Canez I hate to say it but Sid did win that argument IMO. Luke was just all over the place.

If you want good news do read the article Philly posted before from Manny – http://miamiherald.typepad.com/umiami/

If you want bad news, listen to Truth about Jacory (which sadly I think is the way it will be).

I am saying it will be 27-20, I just still haven’t decided who gets the W

  71. You seriously think Sid won? Why did he have to bring up race if he had any valid arguments to make? That’s a red herring. Sid argues like the chumps I used to make fools of in debate tournaments. Dude is a clown.

Luke is Luke. He won just by showing up.

  72. Hate Sid… When we win, he has nothing to say except how bad the other team is… When we lose, he knew we were going to lose because we aren’t that good…

Predictions don’t matter but I REALLY REALLY REALLY want Miami to win out, lol…

  73. Yeah JSQ I did. And to be honest, while I know Sid didn’t have to “go there,” it is a question that I honestly think in college football is a fair question becuase of the disparity in the total number of black head coaches. (not to mention that I think with Luke you can go there a little bit more to begin with).

I am not saying I like the man. But he didn’t put down Luke (like Luke did to him) and he was consistent. Maybe its not so much that Sid won, but rather honestly that I thought Luke lost.

    ——————————————————————-
JSQ, i dont know what interview C1 was listening too. Sid had no valid responses to some of Luke’s arguments and if you have to pull out the race card, then you know have already lost the argument.

They say misery loves company. And when you feel like you have an issue you tend to cling to those who hold the same view. Right now things are lukewarm with this team and people are quoting and siding with anyone who feels like they do.

    But calmer heads will prevail.

Like DatyonCane said, its not as bad as some make it out to be, but its not great either.

  75. I thought Sid sounded like a babbling idiot and Luke was just playing it cool and messing with him. That’s how I interpreted the interview.

Sid lost all credibility with me when he screamed at DBJ last week. He is a complete joke and that’s how Luke was treating him.

  76. Listen again.

Sid didn’t want anything to do with the race thing and said so about ten times but Puke wouldn’t let it go.

Then Puke says you are racist if you haven’t slept with a black woman….. Cmon son.

You want to talk about reaching.

Take your green and orange earmuffs off and try and be objective. Puke turned that interview into a mess and has no clue what he is talking about.

He might of been the man 30 years ago but times have definitely changed.

    Clueless.

Sid was trying to keep the interview on track and Puke kept lowering the rent on the whole thing. I was laughing the whole time.

I could give a fuk what he thinks or Sid for that matter but to say Puke had some good points…… OK ?????

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  77. Sid brought up the race issue. He asked if Luke would feel differently about things if Randy Shannon wasn’t black.

Then Luke went into the stuff with Sid’s sexual [JSQ vomits in mouth] history.

Luke was being funny, and made a fool of Sid and by the end, Sid backed down because he couldn’t win and he got all quiet.

I know what I am going to make you listen to on the way to the stadium now, Canez1!

    NOTHING BUT 2 LIVE CREW!

    GRRRRRRR!!!!

    :-D

    miamimike01 says:

I agree with Canez1, Luke’s first question was do you sp** or sw*****. He came out and threw any question Sid asked back in his face without quality answers.

The interview didn’t even have a chance to get going. Luke baited him into a different conversation and didn’t answer any tough questions.

And Sid, as a shock jock, rolled with it (even if a little longer than he wanted to).

It was, quite frankly, a harr – ible interview.

And Luke gets the blame for steering it in the direction from the get go.

  79. That interview wasn’t as bad some think. I thought it was a little awkward, but there so many shock jocks on satellite radio that conduct interviews way worse than that.

Bringing the race thing into it is about as credible as LeBron saying the reason people view his “Decision” negatively is because of his race.

If Randy was winning big games his race wouldn’t be an issue, unless half of our fans are bigots.

  80. Mike, when you invite someone on your radio show who makes porn, what do you think you are going to get?!

  84. Luke said he would give any college coach six years to win. SIX YEARS?!? REALLY? Not many other people agree with that. If we hired a new coach tomorrow would anyone give him six years to win? I thought the interview was pretty worthless but side with Canez1.

  85. DZ8-checking out.

  86. JSQ, Bahama – I don’t see how you thought Luke said one valid thing (this is a bit of an exaggeration but you get my point). Six years? FIU? Because he never slept with a black woman as the reason to why he answers questions in a certain way?

I am not saying I like Sid. I am not saying Sid might not have a personal vendetta against Randy. But what I am saying is that Luke did not win the argument anyway you slice it. I think you guys have the Orange Green glasses on big time (and its funny we are even discussing this as it really was a pointless interview that means nothing)

  87. That’s what I think, Shwarma. Agree to disagree!

  88. DZ,

I don’t think Luke realized that Spurrier had prior head coaching experience at two ther places. A guy with that much experience shouldn’t need six years to turn a big program around.

Randy has no previous HC experience so he will take some time to settle into that role.

i’M WITH jSQ…We are going to win. I can not fix my lips to say Nc is going to beat us at home. Yeah we had a tough year so far but we only lost two games out of six. Something is telling me we are going to play our most complete game this weekend. ALL of our backs are healthy for this game and we are loaded at both off/def lines with a few people out. If we run the ball more this game carolina defense won’t stand a chance against a BLITZKREIG of backs coming at them…Lets see Berry, coop, james and Miller will give them a run for their money. Also putting Ashante as our second string Te will bea BIG PLUS for us because he catches the DAMN BALL unlike Chase Ford. A lot of balls Chase has drop would of moved the chains…. Now that Ashante is in more expect jacory passing ratings going up. if we would of caught half the balls that were caught we would be averaging 400 yards a game on Offense every week. People are not realizing that if we eleiminate JUST SOME OF OUR MISTAKES will blow teams out and could of won one of our games we lost. this weeks game will be like G-tech game last year when enough is enough will take place. In other words it is OUR TIME to win now. nc no longer has this starngle hold on us. All GOOD things have to END at some point of time. Like Jacory said last year after the G-tech game… He basically said “this can’t go on for long, something have to change.

“It’s not the play calling, it’s the players — it’s us,” Berry said. “It’s not the way he calls them or the order he calls them in. If he calls 30 plays, we should execute all 30 plays the same exact way as the first one.
“We have a lot of talented players and we’re just not doing it right now. We should be doing a lot more, a lot better. I expect a lot more from this offense.”

    Cav…are you listening?

    >>>>>>

Truth, you missed my post earlier about his. I said he must’ve been readin EOTH the last few weeks. hahaha

It’s still HIS unit. We’ll see though. I think he asks too much of this OL in man on man blocking, given what they’ve shown but maybe the Duke Experiment was just that. something to emphasize to them how critical it is for them to be able to handle their man one on one.

Luke’s better writing and talking about Miami fast life than anything else. Sid?? I don’t know what he does well except sound like a NY douche.

    CanesCanesCanes says:

This is my gut talking: the canes put together a complete game on Saturday. All four quarters. The offense takes what it’s given and gets the ball into it’s playmakers hands: Miller, Berry, James, Lamar, etc. Look out for a couple of big punt/ko returns from Miller and/or TB or whoever is back there. Jacory has a couple of long up top completions for touchdowns, but mostly keeps it underneath with a 60/40 run/pass ratio. Defense gets a couple of turnovers, harrasses TJ all night long, D-line has a big night. Cain continues to improve. UNC is never in it…and I don’t normally make predictions. Now if I just continue to repeat this over and over again, I know it will come true. Please let it be true.

    Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer says:

What’s all this concern about UNC’s TE??? We shut down a much better TE from Clemson? Our LB cans run and cover, esp. when Cain is in.

C-Mac should run blitz every time he’s in there and he should only be in there on 1st and maybe 2nd down. Stuff the run by blitzing up the middle. That’s when C-Mac has made plays. He can’t play straight up. Not happenin. And after watching FSU we know Butch is going to go right after the middle.

This game is a great opportunity for our D and O to show how much they’ve matured, esp. after FSU.

Hopefully Shannon won’t have to make any more excuses to cover for their lackluster, mistake riddled play.

  101. but predictions are cool.

    Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer says:

CCC, the D is going to show up and they might dominate UNC. I don’t know cause the DL hasn’t really dominated since Pitt. They played better against OSU for the most part than they did against Duke.

Whipple and the OL is the question, along with J12’s reads and the WRs hands.

If they play well we’ll walk over them, WE including Whipple using play-action and not abandoning the run for the shotgun so quickly.

I could see it coming together in ways but I could also see us sputtering.

Maybe Rolle’s little visit was what these guys needed to get their heads straight and refusing to accept anything but excellence and execution and being Bosses and Hawgs on the field.

    There’s a reason……

  105. avatar
    Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer says:

Morgan’s just trying to figure it out. We’re not playing up to par and he hates seeing it. He doesn’t remember how his team didn’t beat FSU or VT until his senior year, or how they lost 3 straight in ’99, or how they lost 66-13 in ’98. I think his memory has deleted everything but the 2000 season.

And if he doesn’t think Shannon’s rebuilding from an even deeper hole than Butch’s, that’s part of his memory lapse as well.

  106. was just wathcing some highlights from 2001 and man that team was good. Also, for any of us who talk about Jacory’s arm stregth vs. Drosey, man I don;t know. Dorsey looks like freaking Dan Marino out there compared to Jacory’s floaters. Also that team looked like it was having fun. I almost think thats what I want to see most on Saturday a team that looks determined, focused and most importantly looks like their having fun.

  107. avatar
    BIG DADDY CANE says:

Like i said with Ashante in as Te we should keep the chains moving.. Chase needs to ride the bench for his inconsitent play.. Catch the ball and run the ball is crucial for us for the rest of the season…We do those things and no one will stop us. It starts this saturday.. Despite all that has happen to us this year WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY FOR THE ACC TITLE AND MAKE IT TO A BCS GAME. One game at a time is the approach that should keep us focus. The more wins the more confidence it will breed for this team.

  110. avatar
    Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer says:

Shwarm, those guys were having fun because they KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. They weren’t thinking about anything by that point. That system on offense and defense had been in place since 1995.

And that team in particular had been together almost entirely since 1997, some even ’96, so you had a lot of continuity.

That’s why I say maybe, just maybe this offense isn’t where we expected it to be because it takes longer for an offense, esp. Whipple’s version of Air Coryell, to gel than any of us would like or expect.

Case in point, 2009 Stanford LOST to Wake 21-17. Stanford did not score in the 2nd half of the game. Luck’s performance was WORSE than J12’s performance against the same Wake team a month later.

2010….Stanford destroys Wake 68-21. They scored on their first four possessions. Luck tore them apart. The running game laid the foundation for it.

Now some of that was because of inexperience at Wake but most of it was because Harbaugh’s built that team and system for the past four years EXACTLY the way he wanted to build it, with the offense leading the way. He has a senior-laden OL RS soph. QB and everyone knows what they’re doing.

Our offense regularly looks confused and on different sheets of music, playcaller included.

That’s why I’m holding out my verdict on Whipple. It may just take some time and the right OL to really click.

    ——–

    There’s a reason for that.

The staff is always tinkering with the lineup for some reason. One week we have a certain starting lineup and then the next week it’s changed.

I remember watching the start of the FSU game and wondering why Franklin wasn’t out on the field. Shannon later goes on to explain by saying: “We just wanted to get Johnson (Jermaine) some experience at LT”. WTF!!! We are playing Florida State and you think it’s a good idea to play a backup RT at the start of the game? And you wonder why Jacory is running for his life all the time.

I understand that Shannon is still learning on the job, but that’s something that successful teams do not do at this level of competition. If your starters are healthy, START THEM!!! Like I said, one week Ramon Buchanon could be starting, the next week Kylan Robinson is starting.

Shannon cannot continue to mess with the starting lineup and expect the team to jell; it doesn’t happen that way. Create a depth chart and go with it. If we are modeling ourselves after a NFL team then we need to do things like those teams do, like having a consistent starting lineup.

What would Six (of Canespace) say if Jim Morris were to take one of his lower rotation pitchers and let them get the start in front of his “ace” (just to get an inning of experience) if the ace was scheduled to start? He’d probably go ballistic because that’s just something you don’t do in baseball (or any sport for that matter).

  116. Esteban,

If that’s the case then we must have a team full of guys in trouble.

I personally don’t buy it because Orlando was back in the lineup after the first series, so that “punishment” didn’t really do anything.

I understand benching a guy that’s playing inconsistent, but we’re shuffling the lineup (just subbing guys in every other series) constantly and that’s proven not to work at the big boy level.

    Ok, I’m done complaining lol.

  117. was the 3rd series i think. but might be a suspension. sending a message. whatever. just don’t think its cause Randy wanted to let Jermaine start in the big game. honestly how Orlando played i wish they would have just let him stay standing on the sideline.

    >>>>>

I understand what you’re saying but that ain’t the reason why those two have the most starts. The reason is the same that the OL has shuffled lineups continually……THERE’S NO ONE WHO CAN REALLY BALL IN THE SENIOR CLASS….

Hankerson, obviously is the exception but after him DVD and Ryan Hill are the best playing seniors, and that’s only this year. And look at how long it’s taken to build some depth at both of those positions.

And we’re only now getting something like depth at LB. The fact that a true frosh has played better than a fifth year senior in only ONE GAME should tell us everything we need to know about what’s been available at a given position.

That 2008 crop of LBs has been the spectacular bust of Shannon’s classes, all for reasons out of his control. It is what it is but it still sucks.

Thankfully the busts of that class should be long forgotten by the time this class steps up to bat.

Meanwhile, dan morgan bbytching bout somebody not callign him back. Than what gets me, he keeps talking about he’s going to go and talk to coach shannon, etc. etc. mofo, go and talk to the players and help motivate them.

Quit wasting shannon’s time, go and groom a linebacker or to and stop beiing an idiot on air and criticizing instead of just going out helping.

  146. I have ZERO desire today. I have been sleeping on my kids schedule and I still don’t feel rested…I need a vacation!

Mrs. Favre did not go on TV to discuss her husband? Women need to take the high road, ie Sandra Bullock…let him fall not you!

    SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!

He’s the dummy…don’t look like an idiot because of him.

  148. Fortunatly I had the foresight to work late hours earlier in the week so that I could pretend to work today…

I’m sooooo looking forward to the eleventy beers at tailgate and a great Canes win tomorrow. :)

bg – that was hilarious! You guys start early, 2:30, that’s insane. You must be brined and pickled by gametime.

  150. Awesome. I can’t wait to finally meet you guys and girl LOL

Going to be a good time.

Hopefully not too hot! I can’t take the heat!!

Drinks are on me at half time :)

Anybody watch that Brett Favre clip? Glad nobody filmed my college and after college escapades – much worse. Also, what’s up with the Milwaukee ladies – BIG hair, little booties

  156. I’m just relieved to know Brett Farve is ALSO an Uncle Luke fan.

  157. Canez1 more than one homie…lol

  158. I believe Mrs. Farve wrote a book and is doing publicity for it.

Just poor timing for the release.

    Or is it?

  159. Cubed, we started at 1 for FSU. Not the best decision of my life, not the worst!

  160. DAT, you definitely need to stop by!

Canez1 and I will be at the Smirnoff bar by the alumni section (110) at halftime. Hopefully I don’t need body guards for this game.

  161. I told you GF I gottya.

    No one fuks with me.

Smirnoff bar at halftime is the plan.

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  162. Booties didn’t start getting so phat until they changed the milk from carnation to similac!

Now 14 year old girls look like grown women with huge butts and breast!

  163. Plus UNC fans are some of the nicest I have ever met.

Of course there exceptions but for the most part they are pretty cool.

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  164. “Never trust a big butt and a smile. That girl is poison.”

    ~ Bel Biv Devoe

  165. Yeah, I have never had a negative experience with a UNC fan.

Although I hadn’t with an FSU fan either, besides the obvious banter that goes back and forth when your buddy decides to crash the student section instead of going to our ticketed seats.

  166. I missed the big T’s and A’s fad by like 10 years.

Chics were pretty weak back in my day.

    Until college anyway.

Grade school and high school pfffft.

    Always late to the party…….

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  167. new blog up
