EOTH’s Anniversary Superlatives
I’ve seen the numbers – daily – and I know most of our readers don’t comment for some reason. The below should provide some motivation to make that leap. In the last year since Eye of the Hurricane began on March 11, 2010, we have developed a great community here and wonderful friendships on and off the blog. The superlatives below have very little to do with ‘Canes news, so I apologize. Please give us a couple of days to celebrate our anniversary and you can get all your news by reading the comments below. While you are there, stop by and say hello to everyone!
So, the deal with the superlatives is, readers have the opportunity to vote, either by copying and pasting in the comments or by e-mailing me at marybclark@hotmail.com from now until 5pm on Thursday. On Friday, our official anniversary, I will post the results and there will be virtual orange and green Jello shots for everyone!

first??
2nd again
Nice, autumn!
Jello shots for you!
whoa . . . line me up an orange one jsq . .. they have a more aesthetic virtual appeal!
Uh…veeeeery funny
You got jokes, huh?
KC Joyner is a very reliable souce. He uses statistics like baseball “experts” do and translates them to the football field.
I, of course, believe we can win the ACC this year. Joyners’ Reason #1 though was our strong pass defense last year. He doesn’t mention we are losing our top 3 cornerbacks.
I still feel like our great front four will increase the presure on the opposing qbs keeping our unproven cornerbacks “safe”. I just wouldn’t have used last years pass defense as a reason, especially not reason #1.
Doh!!
GO CANEZ!!!!!
KL, your e-mail has a virus
You didn’t respond to the blurring question, T, I was just trying to protect your identity for the 3 people on here who haven’t met you.
I think Rashad looks best in the pic wearing the Tux with the 3 chicks
I’m referencing a SolarCane joke from 2009, that’s all.
LMAO!!!!!!! Im dyin again!!!
I know its late, but I think Six is most likely to hold a Demarcus Van Dyke draft party at his house..lol
Here’s your virtual orange jello shot, autumn! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!
I’m on it, Rashad!
That should be my new blog name..LOL
If anyone else has any last minute additions, speak now!
I even added a link to Seantrel doing the Dougie . . . this is a very thoughtful blog.
Good one Rashad!
Most Likely to get a J12 Haircut if he leads the Canes to a ACC Title..
Thanks for the Dougie link JSQ…
Rashad LOL!!!
Six is def waiting to hook that party up.
He’s a big fan.
GO CANEZ!!!!!
“Hello Everyone”
There is still time to vote for me to make sure the hater doesn’t win the UMAA contest! You don’t even have to have a Facebook account to vote!
(1) Go to: http://www.facebook.com/miamialumni
(2) Scroll down to my picture from Choke Campbell Stadium throwing up the foam []_[] hands
(3) Click “like”
It takes 5 seconds. A few of you did it wrong (Shwarma, Sailor, MOM, J, etc), so please go back to make sure you voted! Thanks!
Wow
And it’s still there
I feel some jokes coming…
JSQ – I may have missed it but if it’s not on the list, please add “blogger most likely to change his name every 3 months” haha.
Been looking at flights for some of the away games. Ticket prices are CRAZY!
I added it, Raize.
Truth, if you want your picture up instead of Homer’s, just say so. I was trying to be considerate!
Where are you looking to go, Delray?
Just “Like”d it. Free Jello shot?
I’ll kick things off on voting. Not going to count my vote, though, nor should anything I say be taken seriously or should anyone get their feelings hurt. Just showing y’all what to do.

I can’t wait to see the shamockery the NCAA pulls on this Tressel thing.
Dez Bryant-10 games just for lying about having lunch with Deion Sanders.
How does that compare to knowingly covering up multiple players taking improper benefits, then lying about knowing to his employer on more than one occasion.
If he ends up with 2 games only it will yet another example of big money proving what a joke the NCAA is.
Stick it to em’ Paul Dee!
Rashad
Thinking about it, you’re probably right on your Most likely to turn on coach Fisch after our first non-scoring drive vote.
The NCAA better not drag their feet on this..The evidence is there, its time to drop the hammer on OSU..They have been dirty since Clarett..
Not sure. Would like to go to Vtec as the date works with my schedule. Perhaps NC but I think my wife is planning a Halloween Party that weekend.
If I miss out on those may have to go to trailorville.
I’ll be at all of those games, Delray!
Anyone else going to the UM Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet on 3/24?
I wanna go to FSU and USF, but not sure ill be able to get back to back Sat off during retails busy time of they year..I’d like to make at least 3-4 games this year..

JSQ – Have tried voting several times and I still can’t (talking about the Facebook thing).
Superlatives will vote later.
Rashad & Canez1 – f*ck that sh*t
Haha
I get pissed just seeing my name next to those initals .. DVD …… my world will collapse if the Bucs pick him up. I’m not joking. I have faith Raheem is smarter than that
I don’t have inside info! I just talk to people that do and if they ok me to share it I do. J and Truth are the only 2 insiders here at EOTH. CVette and Josh at Caneinsider get good info, as do RandomWalk and DMoney at Scout. From the sites, I talk to Manny, Rudy (ITU), and sometimes Chris Stock (ITU).
I change my nicest blogger from me and Este too Autumn. Can’t compete with that guy! He’s TOO Nice! Ha!

Practices
This is the most organized ive seen practices run since Butch Davis, god forbid you walked from station to station…Dnorfio and Golden were the most impressive coaches on the field…Praising and high fiving while also Screaming and sendig a message loud and clear when you fucked up, they demand perfection and massive discipline….Mcdonald is very strict on technique which left me with a great impression, jethro is all about fighting tooth and nail to kill your man in front of you…
QB’s- all 3 are still getting some rust of with some accuracy issues coming back from the fall but as practice kept going there throws looked smoother….jacory has gained some weight, hes still thin but hes filled in better than last year and he was his usual self looking great in practice…Morris on the other hand has gained some nice weight, looks much stronger. His passes still have a beautiful zip to them and his ability to look downfield has progressed drastically, Whipple next
RB’s-Miller and Storm have not dissapointed but i would have to give the edge to Storm. Not only was he breaking big runs but his ability to make people miss stood out the most
TE’s-Maybe Ayles coming to the U was great for Ford cuz both of them not only mad plays but made it a point to stand out even when the ball wasnt in there hands..Ford made some nice plays but Ayles made some hard catches in traffic…Dont sleep on Walford though, His athleticism has shown out alot fighting for that ball
OL- Henderson, Linder, and Bwash were freakishly good…Im more convinced now that the Oline is our strongest unit…Seantrel has reduced body fat drastically making him quicker and more agile on his feet while linder engages on a defender and wont let go….B Wash was his normal self playing like a stud while Malcome Bunche showed his freakish strength in the run game…
WR- I was a bit dissapointed with this unit….Aldarious in particular dropped some easy passes which were very disconcerning, Byrd and Thompkins stood making some plays while Streeter used his hands more to catch the ball away from his body…mcdonald will have all spring to fix some mental lapses with the WR’s but from what ive seen they should be ready to go in the fall
DL- Forston has cut so much bad weight that its scary how quick hes gotten, I saw the Forston we all raved about hen he was in high school, Olivier Vernon is an unbelievable specimen with speed and strength he is the real deal, Porter showed how badly he was missed last season. You need more than 1 guy to take him down hes like a cannon ball.
LB- Kelvin Cain pretty much has stolen Spence’s spotlight as the stand out defender, gaines, Futch, and Buchanon have played very physical which will give this unit its much needed boost…
DB- Thomas Finnie has kept his word in the gaining weight and getting stronger department…looked very fluid with sick speed in coverage, Mcgee needs to finish his plays, once he gets this figured out he will be better then Brandon Harris.Cornelius play very well almost recording some interceptions in practice, hes much faster then the staff anticipated resulting in the move to saftey..But watch out for highsmith who can see some serious minutes with his natural athleticism and string learning curve…
If DVD get a coach like sam shields has in GB now and if someone puts him on a good workout plan to gain some muscle he can prob make a decent DB out of himslef especially with his speed.
who is “legend”?
Nice info bg1906!
McGee better than Brandon Harris? I’ll wait and see on that one.

Autumn,
Yeah Bleedau isn’t too tight on his grammer! Ha!

not just grammar – which doesn't really bother me . . . it's that his thoughts don't always finish and sometimes don't even start on time . . . look at WR:
"WR- I was a bit dissapointed with this unit….Aldarious in particular dropped some easy passes which were very disconcerning, Byrd and Thompkins stood making some plays while Streeter used his hands more to catch the ball away from his body…mcdonald will have all spring to fix some mental lapses with the WR’s but from what ive seen they should be ready to go in the fall"
i don't care that he misspelled "disappointed" & "disconcerting" and used "were instead of "was" . . .
but what does this mean: “Byrd and Thompkins stood making some plays while Streeter used his hands more to catch the ball away from his body…"?
and thanks for the "nice guy" pat on the back; a couple others out there too
. . . i'll just act like it's a compliment, even if this is EOTH and not the "Help the little Children & their Animals" blog.
going to bed soon so i gotta choose the post-of-the-day fast
. . . envelope please (screams & shouts heard in the background)
and it is Canez1 2:45 p.m. post . . . a masterpiece, with just the right amount of salt . . .

'til tomorrow
(though something tells me there's gonna be a shytload to read tomorrow)
Haha, nice and damn accurate about longest posts with me and Cal.
Although I don’t think either of us will turn on Fisch unless he runs idiotic, transparent plays all game long and runs the ALL SEASON LONG.
From what I saw from his time at Minnessoootta, he won’t do that.
How good will he be remains to be seen? But I don’t think he’ll be idiotic and half-brained.
Best news I’ve heard in a long time from the previous blob about the Golden speak to the alums. Thrill Hill at practice and Kelly coming says it all, well almost as much as the way the upperclassmen are responding.
And I’m officially with Canez1 on Iman starting. EFF THAT!!!!
THAT would give me serious pause on Fisch UNLESS he makes constant use of play-action and a Bill Walsh like offense.
Still, I wouldn’t do if for the team’s psychological strength.
But I don’t think that’s what he’s going to do.

Calvin…Dawg…that was CLASSIC!!! lol…even c1 had to LOL
New commit. Big possession type kid. I would not have taken his commitment now but what’s done is done.
Did Brennan Carroll tweet “Welcome to the U”? If he didn’t idk how true this commit is. I’ve never even heard of this guy.
What’s wrong with the shoes they sell at publix?
I like Jokeman. His balls is tight.
I just don’t want him as the starter. Thanks
Calvin, when you make it out to a tailgate, do you promise to bring the good Cheebah you smoke?? Apparently we all need some of that.
CK.
He did on FB.
Everyone describes him as a sleeper. Too early to take commitments from sleepers. We could’ve got this kid anytime we wanted. Maybe they anticipate having large numbers and feel it doesn’t matter. We’ll see.
He looks solid but nothing special at all. Much better WRs on the board. Perhaps they took it now because he’s 6’4, and truly wants to be a Cane.
Or maybe he’ll fill out at the TE position?
Truth.
No chance. 2 scrawny. Looks like Randy Moss. He’s tall and can jump. He blocked 7 shots in a BBall game. Runs a 4.57-4.59 is what they say. Catches with his hands. Not a BAD looking prospect, but not a special looking prospect either. I just think their is too much Florida talent at WR to take a commitment from an OOS WR that isn’t SPECIAL. He’s OK, nothing more, nothing less.
Even Susan is going in on Dent.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/umiami/2011/03/what-a-difference-with-lamar-travis-blake-vaughn-and-brandon-m.html
Truth he actually reminds me of a slightly smaller Daniel Adderly.
Dion Witty:
Good athlete. Needs some polish, though. Probably the third or fourth CB on his 7-on-7 team at this moment.
Understands the game, the keys at his position. Will need to become more explosive to keep up with the top quarter of FBS WRs. Doesn’t possess good top-end speed. Quicker than fast.
Witty is receiving mail from the upper half of BCS conferences, but his senior year will need to produce to match his initial interests. His 40 time is skewed b/c of improper form. But this is an athlete that can grow into the position. I expect his last two years in a college program that he can become a contributor or even a starter.
I see that, Bg. That’s actually a perfect comparison
We took Adderly early so I guess why not.
Would you have taken it now? I mean they turned down Jamie Wilson from Glades Central and he wanted to commit, I know he’s not 6’4 and can’t jump like this kid so maybe that’s what it is. He is RAW having only played football for 1 year but this seems most like a kid you take at the end of the cycle rather than the beginning.
LMAO!!!!! These are freakin awesome..Keep voting people..
Just saw Mel Kiper Jr has DVD going in the 5th or 6th round…
Kid is listed as 6’4 190 lbs by Scout .. to 6’4 220 lbs by the Orlando Sentinel
If people remember, K2 was a beanpole when he came to Miami .. he left at around 245
This kid still has another year of high school football, another year of growing, another year of possibly thinking about going somewhere else … then wait until he gets on campus if he sticks with his commitment and hits the weights/hits the food
Bg some dude came at U on insidetheu msg board talking bout the new commit
Philly.
Yeah I saw, I stated my piece. Screw ‘em, they just talk, they don’t know what they are talking about.
Six.
Chad Scout from Scout.Com says
Number one, RAW… He is an athlete that grew up a basketball star… Played football for the first time on the high school level this past season… I really like his body control and athleticism. Of course his size too… He needs to work on his take off, route running, catching the ball more consistently with his hands, and getting stronger. He is a raw athlete with good coordination, a lot of raw ability, and a kid that could be a 6-4/220 WR down the road.

I agree with that totally. My point is at THIS STAGE in the process, there is no need to take a prospect that is labled as a sleeper or raw. I’m not saying you NEVER take him, I just said you don’t have to take him now. Just like they didn’t take Jamie Wilson’s commitment now and several other kids that want to commit now. I didn’t say he sucks or didn’t have tools, I said he was not SPECIAL. He will need a lot of work and with the amount of polished talent in-state there is no need IMO to take an out of state sleeper type RIGHT NOW.
Philly.
I mean, I’m supposed to care about this guy’s opinion???

Nope it is not stopping, I am way too much of a realist to believe a leopard can change his spots overnight or even in 6 months. CC-DD already standing her ground on top of a soapbox
. . . keep preachin' woman;
EOTH is littered with soapboxes . . . "football filosophers" spewing out their truths

There’s gotta be an easier way to answer all these without all that typing……
It isn’t cheating if I just cut the categories from someone else, paste, and just put my own names in, is it?
And Canechic is right, too. Some kids are just knuckleheads, through & through. Still doesn’t mean we can’t win a good amount of games……But there won’t be any magic wand waving, on the first day, either.
I personally don’t give a dinosaur’s d!ck if J12 cuts a road map into the side of his head, or walks around campus in Raider PJs, or if Ojomo & Jake Wieclaw wanna slapbox in the locker room, or if AJ 4.8 and Jordan Dutch wanna tweet each others “U” tats…..
Because none of that has anything to do with college football.
SKIMMING THE PLAYBOOK, does.
That’s the sh!t that needs to stop.

EOTH is littered with soapboxes . . . “football filosophers” spewing out their truths
<<<<<<<<<<<
forgot to mention that all the "football filosophers" on here are amazingly wonderful people, full of intelligent and well-thought-out analyses
(autumn still polishing his credentials for "nicest blogger")
Dat, as always, thanks for the link. Great read in the Herald:
More from Miller on the new staff: “I see a difference. Everybody sees a difference. They’re changing the attitudes around here and that should help us out a lot.”
CC – Don’t let them get you down. You’re just calling it like you see it.
Bg, I completely feel what you are saying on the new commit. Two points/questions though:
What level of competition was he up against?
Were there any other receivers on our board that fit that body mold? (I ask because though there are tons of higher priorities IMO and I know you normally don’t jump on sleepers early, I feel all our prospects ar 6′ 2″ and under and you need that big guy sometimes)
What’s up Meriweather??
Hurri
i need you to run over and pick up Calvin to get him off that short bus and start driving him into work…I know he’s smarter than to believe ANY “true Cane (like he loves to say)” would EVER SKIM the playbook… think maybe he needs to hear it from people other than us Gruden loving excuse makers always looking to keep Randy Shannon down.
A playbook is a playbook!
Then that way we can actually get Calvin to a tailgate for some wings because I know for a FACT the short bus does NOT have a route to the stadium…
I checked
Shwarm good point. I think a kid at that height and basketball background at the WR position is a rarity and you have to jump on it.
I think the 2012 class is going to be a huge one. Tall Sofla WR’s are not falling out of the trees this year.
Last but not least the kid is DYING to be a Cane.
Coach this kid up and the skys the limit.
Remember there WILL be kids busting out soon for one reason or another or ones that just aren’t cutting it and politely asked to leave.
Add a couple Sofla kids at WR and it’s a wrap. No need to pull the alarm.
The days of looking for and needing an immediate savior are over. Gotta get out of that way of thinking.
BTW I forgot about the fork tongued devil!!!! LMFAO!!! That’s f’n awesome!
GO CANEZ!!!!!
New commit
Jontavious Carter, 6’4 200 WR out of GA
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
I like this pick up. Still has another year to develop at HS. I realize I am an optimist and my knowledge of prospects may be below that of other bloggers.
When I was in HS I remebr a kid who was a senior who wasa very good basketball player and decided 2 games into the football season to co out and play. He asked the coach if he could come out and the coasch told him sure but you will have to earn your way onto the team. By the end of the year this kid was making plays at the WR against CB's who had been highly recruited. He probably could have commited to FB and gone pro but choose to play BB instead. BB players are usually very good athletes and can addapt (see Graham from 2009).
the list is out of the teams and representatives expected for today’s pro day for UM. definitely a bigger crowd then last year with the Patriots and Steelers by far bringing the most reps. Patriots got like 8 dudes there including the my boy Bill.
BUUUT, there are thousands of talented high school athletes “DYING” to be Canes ,C1. I won’t bash the kid considering I haven’t seen anything about him but just sayin’.
Delray
Graham, Gates, Gonzalez, etc. are special players with special talent. I know you didn’t insinuate it but the odds of a lifelong basketball player making a seamless transition to football are quite slim. Attitude and willingness to launch yourself at another human being alone will eliminate at least half of all basketball players.
DVD would only be so lucky to go to either the Pats or Steelers.
DAT has been working overtime, lately! Dang! Your compensation will be in the form of food and liquor on April 16.
Canechic, way to lock down that title! lol
Yeah, Hurri, just copy and paste. That’s how I did it originally and I think that’s how everyone else is doing it. Very little typing required.
What Six said about the new receiver. He could still put on 40-50 lbs and be a TE. They must have taken him for a reason. Golden said the other night that they are only leaving the State of Miami for 1st round draft picks so they must see something special in him.
J, I know you are at Pro Day, buddy, don’t be afraid to share stuff with us!
I wouldn’t mind my patriots taking DVD – we need speed on our defense and one guy who’s less physical then the rest we can hide. but i’d prefer Harris or Hill.
LOL bg.. yeah I wouldnt sweat that, just wanted to give u the heads up that someone was talkin shyt.
I was about to comment and come at him but i saw u dropped it so no need for me to start gettin after him
Like u said dudes a CLOWN!
I agree with your assessment. NO need to take him now esp if Miami is his dream school meaning he’d prolly sign with us a month before signing day. But like my guys Schwarm and C1 said, a kid at that height and bball background is a tough find.
i’ll reserve judgement on the new commit until i see some footage.
maybe we’ll just take kids early and often and then right before signing day tell a few the offer is no longer good.
Yeah, who knows, Esteban.
I left Monday night with the impression that my overzealous fanhood and efforts to convert everyone in south Florida are no longer needed.
Golden knows what he’s doing. We are just some bloggers.
By the way, anyone who hasn’t voted for my picture or is doing it incorrectly, just go to http://www.facebook.com/miamialumni and look for me holding up the foam []_[] hands at Choke.
My friend Timmy [Timmmmaaaaayyyyy] is currently tied with me. I adore Timmy though so if he wins, I won’t freak out. He’s not a hater. A few of you met him at the FSWho tailgate this year. He’s good people.
But my picture is just BETTER so you should vote for IT!
CK,
“Miami is my dreamschool” has been the kiss of death.
Finding a kid who that truly means something to is another story. Then to have the kid commit on the spot…..
I’ll take it.
Plenty of time to develop. Plus the kid hasn’t even played his senior season!
Just because a kid commits does not mean it is set in stone. He gags this year and his offer goes bye bye.
He now has something to ball for.
GO CANEZ!!!!!
CK,
I agree with you about needing the determination and drive is what will be the main factor if this kid can contribute or not.
Yeah, odds are probably against him.
Delray, is it pouring where you are, too? My office windows look like a river is flowing over them.
raining here.
Good point C1. I completely forgot we reserve the right (just like the high schoolers we recruit) to back out. It wouldn’t necessarily be the best look but its every school in the nation that is worth something does it all the time.
delete “its” from my last comment and it will make sense
CK no doubt.
You have to remember that coaches cannot talk about recruits so all you get is “I committed” from the kid.
No details or terms and conditions. Nothing!
It’s hard to remember sometimes because we get so caught up.
Everything is conditional.
I will take the upside here with this one and wait till the tapes show up.
Gotta trust Goldens plan and vision of what he needs for his program at this point because we have nothing to go off of.
GO CANEZ!!!!!
Apparently the new company running my HOA has a method for getting funds that includes sending fraudulent letters to homeowners about things they need to fix, ignoring their repeated phone calls re: how said things have been fixed or never needed to be fixed in the first place, and then sending threatening letters about how you never responded to their calls so they are going to fine you.
A little lesson in life to this a$$hole who is doing this:
Don’t f@ck with attorneys. The law makes our life miserable and we can use it to make your life miserable too.
Douchebag.
True. Well said C1.
From Hurricanesports.com:
6’3″ 190
Extremely talented wide receiver…Tall and lanky wideout reminds observers of Randy Moss but is also a fine blocker
No JSQ, I’m in WPB right now.
Cloudy though.
btw – that’s Lance Leggett’s profile
The sun is out now. I guess the sky was just in a bad mood for a bit.
bahahahahahahahahaha
nice, Cubed!
C1 – I agree, though if Carroll sends out the message then to me there are no conditions other than us just changing out mind.
Also, since I am sure someone will soon say don’t just take a kid because he is tall and the kid who is 6’1″ can grow a couple inches, I say ok, and with Carter he can also now start lifting weights (since if he was only playing basketball there is no assurance he was doing this) and could also grow 2 inches, you then have a great sized tight end. Point being, its all relative, and since I don’t see which other big receiver’s spot he was taking, I am A-Ok with this move.
Are you in downtown WPB? I used to live two blocks east of City Place on Hibiscus and Dixie before I moved down here.
How much do guys grow after they hit 17?
Not being a smart a$$, genuinely interested.
I stopped growing at 12, which was probably good since I was already good foot or so taller than everyone else my age.
Looking ugly out there to the North and North-West.
Close to DT on Australian.
Gotcha. I have a friend who works up there at a firm near Clear Channel (?) who lives in Delray, too. Pineapple Grove.
JSQ
I personally grew another 2 inches so it certainly is possible.
Getting ugly…Hearing Thunder!
Thanks, CK, I knew boys “matured” later but I wasn’t sure when they were done growing. I guess that makes sense because some of the little shrimps from high school were finally taller than me at our 10 year reunion. haha
JSQ I was done at about 15 height wise. I think sometimes a late height growth spurt is possible, but more often its body weight/frame growth you see
Thundering here too.
Glad I picked up lunch after spin class this morning. Not getting out in this!
That’s what I was thinking, Shwarma, that they fill out more than they grow taller, so I think getting someone who is taller with a good frame to grow into is a safer bet than hoping someone will grow 3 inches before they get on campus. But like CK, said, it certainly is possible.
bg1906 – read the end of my post at 11:26pm
Kid can change his mind. Coaches can change their mind. He has another year left in High School to grow. If he sticks & so do the coaches, he’ll probably need 2 seasons to fill out with the UTough workouts and hopefully finally eating properly, at Miami, b/c they’ll institute some form of a real training table under Golden
Senior in High School .. to Frosh in College .. to Soph in College – that’s a whole lot of growing to be done, in all facets
The lightening is freaking scary down here.
Thinking about my poor boys at home all alone. Sebastian is probably under a patio chair in the lanai to stay dry.
JSQ,
I was 5 1O leaving HS @ 17; by my Jr. in, college I was 6 1, the height of my brother who left home at 6 1.
When I saw in two years later, we’re both taller, but he’s 6 4.
…then later, he mused that he wished that he’d play sports with me back at high school… nawww, was too much of a book worm, but he now plays volleyball for recreation league
11-1 UVA
15-14 UVA
the weather has hit Broward…nASTY out!!!
pro day postponed. sucks for the players – especially non combine guys.
I want to go back to bed and watch movies with the boys all afternoon. This weather makes me sleepy!
BG, Este
Notwithstanding me & my sibling personal of growth, there was a H.S. guard in Washington DC area who was a fine point without good grades, but more like a 3*** of today, i.e., Jacoby Brissett but only 6 1 1/2 in height, not the 6 4′ or 6 5′ of Jacoby (did yu’all see Brissett Dwyer win State BB Title) of Palm Beach. Guard name is Jerome Wiliams, he went the Junior College, and while there, grew 6.5 inches taller all the way t 6ft 9in tall. HoyaParanoia scooped him upas a forward for couple of years on his nba way also as a forward.
Now, our coaches might have seen this …tevious boy parents, siblings, and well see a first round TE/WR.
The JWilliamses of the world live in GA too.
Thanks, Speedwrecks. Good to know it’s possible.
Miami takes the lead
So who will replace Charlie Sheen? Is it Rob Lowe or John Stamos? Is there a dark horse out there??
BTW – the weather sucks in O-Town as well. Which happens to be the most dangerous city in the US for Spring Breakers according to some publications.
DATcane – only postponing the inevitable … end the season asap – the more I have to see of Haith, the more sick I still stay
raize – I say bring in Mickey Rourke or James Gandolfini, just f*ck up the whole dynamic of that show
Six, U never know its March Madness!!! lol
Why do you guys think David Robinson went to Navy. He wasn’t 7 feet coming out of high school. It isn’t common but it does happen. Most of the time your hieght coming out of high school will be your height in your casket, most of the time.
I think we just need to give this new receiver recruit a catchy nickname like, ‘Kid Nigeria’, and we’ll all jump on the bandwagon. Este, get on this nickname thing.
or if they really wanted to jack it up, bring in Emilio Estevez …… or even worse, one of the loser Baldwin brothers so they can stop gravy training off of Alec
i think Rob Lowe over Stamos every day of the week.
mickey rourke would be great on that show tho.
Este – :17 seconds into the video has the answer for Ferrell/Riley ….

Fisch’s offensive style….
BIG PLANS FOR CANES
Fisch said his style of offense with the Hurricanes will be “multiple.’’
“We’re going to use all the personnel groupings you could possibly think of. We’ll try to attack defenses by running a pro-style offense, meaning we’re going to huddle. We’re going to run the football well because we have a great offensive line and running backs. And when you run the ball well, you can take advantage of the play-action passing game and the movement game, the keepers, the nakeds, the waggles, the boots.
“Now you’ve got people having to stop your runs, and that’s where explosive plays occur. What we have to do is find a way to be great on third down and stay on the field.’’

Weather isn’t terrible in Tampa but this morning there was a steady flow of rain and lightning until about 11.
I received an e-mail from Victoria’s Secret a couple of hours ago with the subject line: Incredible Things Are Waiting for You!
Then I got an e-mail an hour later with some really good news! (THAT good news, bg, esteban!!!)
Victoria = Prophet
Esteban says:

maybe we’ll just take kids early and often and then right before signing day tell a few the offer is no longer good.
@Esteban. U know I was actually thinking that too, Randy said he’d never do that and that is normally looked at as bad business. However, ALL the offers out now are not official, they are verbal because official written offers can’t go out until August 1st of the players senior year. So that still is a possibility.
@Everyone. To put it bluntly, I just feel it was a rush for an out of state kid that is an ok ball player. I didn’t say he was bad. He’s not bad, he’s just very raw. He does have tools as he’s 6’4 and can move, not overly explosive, but he can move well. However you won’t confuse him with Tommy Streeter. Yes he can get better and all that, I agree, in fact I say he will get better, the more you play the better you should get right! BUT there are MUCH, MUCH better prospects that are DYING to come to UM and we either haven’t offered or are not taking the commitment now. Think about this, when the other kids see this guys film that WANT to be here too, what do you think they will say or think? Because other than being 6’4, I can name several WRs that are better in Florida right now that don’t have offers or that the staff won’t accept their commitment. Its not at all an indictment on the kid, but more so that the staff didn’t seem to need to move this quickly on this kid as they did. There are others that want to be kids just as much.
@JSQ. No ma’am. He doesn’t have that kind of frame to be a TE. He’s has a similar build to Daniel Adderly, but Adderly’s frame actually looked like it could hold more weight. Here are some pics.
http://www.caneinsider.com/attachments/recruiting-talk/252d1299719421-37163_488117717328_776147328_6964030_2890132_n-jpg

I see him perhaps getting to the 215-225 range but no more than that IMO.
Six, on the money,
Time to show Haith the door!
JSQ says:
March 10, 2011 at 10:14 AM
What Six said about the new receiver. He could still put on 40-50 lbs and be a TE. They must have taken him for a reason. Golden said the other night that they are only leaving the State of Miami for 1st round draft picks so they must see something special in him.
^^^He doesn’t look like a 1st round draft pick now. Perhaps one day, but that’s the same gamble you take on all these kids. Right now he looks like a tall kid that runs ok and can jump. If Randy recruited this guy everyone would say PROJECT. But I guess because its Golden’s commit he gets a pass.
Gotcha, bg.
Idk, just going to trust the staff here. I think they know more than we do. If all else fails, they pull his offer.
JSQ.
Holla @ me about your NEWS!
Bg – whoa!
Not what I was saying AT ALL.
Just saying what came out of Golden’s mouth – don’t shoot the messenger!
Miami with 12 points in the second half…that would b ok for the football team.
e-mailing you about it now, bg!
And for the record, if he was Randy’s commit I would be saying the same thing.
I give my allegiance to whomever is leading this team and trust their judgment until the BITTER END. ha!
Ranger Mary reporting!
@JSQ.
I just never liked the whole pull the offer thing. Be sure before you accept the commitment. You can offer as many kids as you want, but you don’t need to accept the commitment. But someone, I believe C1, did make a great point. Perhaps its a conditional acceptance of the commitment as well. Since the coaches don’t talk about it, we don’t know.
@Everyone.
Here is the vid if you have Scout: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1054756.html
Shwarma made a great point as well, we have TONS of WRs in Florida this year, but I don’t think any of the top guys are taller than 6-2 or so.
WOW MIAMI has out scored UVA 13-2 in the last minute and half game tied 53-53
UM BB win 1st game in ACC tourney!
And to be clear 1 more time, I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE COMMITMENT, JUST THE TIMING OF IT.
JSQ says:

Bg – whoa!
Not what I was saying AT ALL.
Just saying what came out of Golden’s mouth – don’t shoot the messenger!
I wasn’t being harsh OG Cupcakes! ha!
I know Golden has said that, I just think this contradicts that statement.
OT
Bg, I agree, I was thinking the same thing last night, especially after my dinner with Schnelly’s recruiting coordinator from back in the day with the ‘Canes. Doesn’t seem congruent, but oh well, I’m just going to trutst they know what they are doing.
As a point of comparison, if I know this kid isn’t ready to commit yet and will probably go all the way to signing day, but if you leave Florida for a commitment NOW, this is the kind of WR you would do it for.
Dorial Green-Beckham: http://video.maxpreps.com/video/b7pMomf6U0i58InkHSWVdA/girls-soccer/dorial-green-beckham—male-athlete-of-the-year.htm
bg – Exactly. I am not praising Golden on this or making a judgment on the kid either, all I am saying is from what I have seen, we don’t have anyone on our board RIGHT NOW that fits this mold (see below) and for that reason I say this is a fit from that perspective (though not necessarily the right move timing wise agreed).
Also, bg, I asked before, but do you know about his competition level at his HS? Because while the term project might be fair, that is a very nice first year if it was against some good competition which Georgia can have.
And for all those wondering, while I don’t know about grades, family relationships, etc. these are all guys I know of JUST in-state we are either chasing or I would covet:
Black – 5 11
Johnson – 6 2
Lane – 6 1
Snell – 5 11
Waters – 6 1
Wilson – 5 11
Bracy – 5 10
Jean-Louis – 6 0
Lewis – 6 2
Jasper – 5 11
And then OOS you have Diggs (6 1) and Green Beckham (6 6 though I think he is a long shot)
So if we are taking 3-4 WRs you guys can see that we need some balance.
Beckham has a great story and his guardians have ties to S. Fla.
http://www.maxpreps.com/news/b_l_tIqZEd-lugAcxJTdpg/becoming-dorial-green-beckham.htm
bg – you’re being sensible… agree 100%
Love the staff but the timing and particular individual is a head scratched for me
Shwarma.
Not familiar with his particular HS but they play good football in Georgia. So I’d think he has a pretty good level of competition.
Shwarma.
A kid I really want us to go after is Nelson Agholor..Wow!
We haven’t even offered yet. Six have you seen this kid in Tampa?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgDTBmew_HM
He has offers from USC, UF, UGA, the usual suspects.
Replacing Charlie Sheen on that show will be as difficult as when they pulled off the impossible, finding another Vivian Banks on Fresh Prince of Bel Aire.
LMAO, pb!
Bg
Sent you a message on FB.
Miami will be offering Nelson shortly.
T.
I hit you back bro.

Good to hear, that kid can play. But you have a kid like that with NO OFFER and then the Georgia gets an offer he can commit to IMMEDIATELY.
@Esteban, remember what we talked about the other day about size and coaches saying I can teach him how to play. I think this is one of those deals.
As long as we save room for DeAndre Jasper, I don’t care who we bring aboard…..
I see where Avery Johnson claims to have us in “The Lead”……while he remains committed to LSU.
What in the gurgling hell……?
Didn’t his big bro give us a LITTLE trouble with regards to recruiting and stuff? I’ll likely be ignoring that kid till NSD…..
LSU Committed WR Avery Johnson (Patrick Petersen’s brother) has visited UM 2 or 3 times now and says we are his front runner though he’s committed to LSU. Probably helps us too that PJ/PP is going pro. Nothing set in stone but if we have a great year I think we can flip this kid. Yes he’s another good one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixi4S-l9biE
Hurri.
In a recent interview PP said he really wanted to come to Miami but that his dad said it wasn’t the same Miami and reopened his recruitment.
I’ll try to get in touch with Avery again, get an update.
When I spoke to him, he told me that he was committed to LSU firmly. But I have heard several times that if anyone can flip Mr. Johnson, it will be Miami.

MM01.
Check out the article he did last night with ITU. Here is a snip
It seems that the Canes may have vaulted to the top of Johnson’s list although he maintains that he is still committed to LSU.
“I mean I’m strong with LSU but I’m starting to open up to a lot more programs now and I’m really liking Miami,” Johnson said. “They’re my frontrunner off what I saw yesterday. I really like those guys and they should be really good this year. I can’t wait to see how the offense and the receivers do this year. It’s going to be exciting and I know they’re going to be good. Coach Golden, in my opinion, is going to get this team back to the old days with the swagger. That’s my honest opinion right there.”
Since Johnson currently wants to explore other options including Miami, does he regret making such an early commitment?
“I’m not going to lie to you because sometimes I do,” Johnson said. “So many schools are coming after me but I did what I did.”
Source: http://miami.247sports.com/Article/Avery-Johnson-UM-is-My-Frontrunner-17872
Guy that wrote the article Nate Adelson said: Just like some others on this thread, I was a little wary about the whole LSU situation and the family connections there. However, I couldn’t ignore Avery DROOLING over Miami no matter what I asked him about. I’ve never talked to him before this time but this honestly sounded amazing for Miami’s chances. Maybe he always sounded like this, you would have to ask Rudy because he has done multiple stories on Avery.

Bg,
PP can go perform seppukku…(Whiff) while Bruce Brown gives him a “I love my baby mother” hug.
Nah, it ain’t that serious, but still……
Also, don’t be surprised if Avery Johnson, Deon Bush, and Ricardo Louis ALL go to LSU.
It is rumored that Bush already committed to LSU silently, and I’m currently working on finding that out for sure.

I heard different. I heard Louis and Bush have us as solid #1.
Who in the hell is BRUCE Brown….?
i wouldn’t believe anything avery johnson says if he and Peterson share the same father. same mother, maybe.
Bryce Brown, I understood! Ha!
I know this for a FACT:
LSU will be making a strong push in south Florida this year. Louisiana isn’t graduating a typical class in 2012. There are exceptions, of course.
But LSU will have a presence in Dade and Broward this year.
MM01.
That’s cool. But if we win, we’ll be just fine. Its March, we have 11 months. If they want to go to LSU let them. There are plenty and we’ll get ours.
How did Golden come to find out about the 6’4 WR we got…did he come to one of the camps he has had? Was it by word of mouth? Anyone know?
Robert Smith taking up for the old Alma Mater.
If UM can get to nine wins, we’ll be fine.
Golden has put Miami back in the game, don’t doubt that for one second.
Green Tree.
Kid wanted to be a Cane so he sent his tape to Miami. They watched the tape and called the kid, talked an offered, kid called back half an hour later and committed. It went very, very fast. They haven’t seen him in person and he’s never been to UM.
Here is what his HS coach had to say: Carter finished his lone season of football with 49 receptions for 650 yards and eight touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 202-pounder with 4.59-second speed averaged 16.7 yards per catch.
“Everyone who sees him for the first time is in love with him. He just wasn’t on the scene because he didn’t play. He’s a little raw because he hasn’t played the game, but he’s 6-4 and he just knows how to go out and catch the deep ball. He has great body control in the air. He catches everything with his hands. But the thing about the kid is his work ethic is second to none. He gets his mind made up to do something, he goes at it full bore.”
I need a nap.

Kylan is slow too 4.73
Ryan Hill had decent numbers.
4.52 and 17 on the bench with 32 vert
BG you think that Richard Gordan will find some work somewhere. 265 and running a 4.65 40.
And when was the last UM Pro Day that generated this much interest?
Go Pat Hill! Love that meatball!
Money.
Yeah somebody will probably find something for him to do even if just special teams. Canadian teams were there too, so he’ll play professionally, just may not be the NFL and its been a long time since we had that kind of NFL buzz.
It truly makes you frustrated because as we all know, talent was not this team’s problem.
Yeah talent wasn’t the entire issue, but I still say the players played a role in the dumpster juice that this season was. I didn’t know Jared Campbell was a senior. He seemed to be making some strides and then just disappeared. I hope he gets on in the CFL.
I think talent (or lack of experience, in the wrong position, whatever, however you want to categorize it) was the problem at a couple of key positions, bg: QB and MLB
Berry with a 4.45. WOW.
Honestly I think that our Offense killed the team this year. Although the D wasn’t spectacular, it played well enough for us to win 8-10 games. If you lead the nations in a INT’s and penalty yards that is a killer. 7 turnovers against Duke and we only put up 28 points. IT ISN’T all on Whipple either. A junior QB playing like crap and a senior OL holding and false starting all year. And out side of Hank we didn’t have a consistent WR. And the Turnovers were the nail in the coffin.
[waits for bg to come at me like a spider monkey for my last comment]

CC – don’t find him guilty just yet. I know John Morgan and he has already come out and said he doesn’t think BM was the shooter. The incident took place over 2 weeks ago and it’s just coming to light now?
Pieces are not adding up just yet…….
The Hurricanes held their final practice before spring break on Thursday. The day’s news:
* Brandon Linder, who played multiple positions on the line a year ago, is only working at left guard so far this spring.
“I like it a lot – it’s fun playing, learning the new system,” Linder said.
Linder is batting Harland Gunn to start.
“Everyone is competing,” Linder said.
Of practicing in full pads for the first time, Linder said, “It feels good, but we’ve been hitting since the first day.”
* Shayon Green is getting used to life as a defensive end after previously being a linebacker at UM.
“At defensive line I can rush the passer; at linebacker I’m dropping back,” said Green, who has earned a coveted black jersey and is working with the first team. “It’s a transition, but it should be good.”
Green’s career so far has been hampered by injury; he began last spring as the first team middle linebacker before losing the job.
“It’s been hard for me because I’ve been injured, not able to play football,” Green said. “It’s a new start, start over.”
Green played in the first two games last season – he injured his wrist playing special teams against Ohio State and missed the rest of the year.
At 6-foot-3, Green currently weighs between 250 and 255 pounds.
He previously has experience playing the line in high school, when he played end in addition to tackle.

Not sure raize have to wait for the facts, the criminal investigation is ongoing but he has no business hanging with these clowns. Did he learn nothing from Ray Lewis? Also raize Brandon does not have a very good rep…I have heard some not so nice things about him from some APK people….time will tell.
I heard John Morgan this morning on 104.1 he said he was going on stories relayed to him by client…he said he does not know who was or was not the shooter.
The investigation will shed more light!!

FloridaHS Footballers Fire 7-on-7 team.
This team is good, folks. Lots of talent on this team.
CC – I am shocked Warren Sapp wasn’t there…..APK is his hometown as u are well aware of
I just got off the phone with Kent Taylor. 6’5, 220. 4.6/40
He loves the U!
Interview tomorrow on CaneInsider.
Hard to see Damien Berry running a 4.45 in the 40 but who knows.
Cory Nelms doesn’t surprise me at all. Dude took gunner away from Sam Shields in ’09 for a reason. Hits like a train too, dabbled in track and has some jets.
Shame he was never really wrenched on.
bg1906 – I talked about Agholor on the other site before the beginning of the high school football season this year a few times – he’s been on our radar (my station) for a while now … kid really likes UiF
Take it for what it is, but, he plays at a school (Berkeley Prep) that goes up against basically zero competition in 1A. He looks bored as hell out there and they basically just line up and crush people, he really is a large fish in a tiny tiny pond
Only real competition they had this year is when they played against Fort Meade .. played them twice, lost to them twice. Fort Meade was 2 of Berkeley Prep’s 3 losses on the year
I went to a couple of his games this year, talked to him. All the coaches always knew exactly who I was there for when I shot their games – just like they knew who everyone and anyone with a camera from a television station was there for
Sapp at Canes Pro Day .. check it … pic #14 with Bernie and Jethro Franklin

Just took a good, thorough, long look at Rashawn Scott’s footage……
If kiddo gets any faster while he’s here, he could very well be a problem. He looks like everything I wanted AJ 4.8 to be.

Nicest blogger: autumn (and don’t we hate him for it?)
Most likely to have a blog conversation with themselves: Autumn (dude creeps me out on my way to work, in the a.m.)
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
self: congrats autumn . . . looks like you've wrapped up "creepiest, nicest blogger".
autumn: ummm, thanks. i think.
(autumn creeps away to the kitchen for some chocolate)
lol autumn
raize I do believe Sapp stays away from “house” parties in the APK these days. Brandon I guess still feels young enough to hang out with these kids.
CC – How I do miss a good “house” party. Of course, when you grew up in Alatmonte, the chances of a shooting taking place was a lot less of a probability back in the day
LMAO raize
Raize you know you were warned never to turn left on 441 going North into APK. lol
Nothing good happens in the APK regardless of time, lol.

Japan in bad shape….
Golden’s message for his players during spring break: “Same as it always is – protect the University, defend the team. That’s it. Don’t embarrass yourselves, the program, your family or the ‘U’ family. We got to make sure that we’re really always teaching them life skills and developing on a daily basis. Choices, attitudes and partners are a big part of that. Hopefully they’ll make good choices and choose good partners over spring break.”
