The Ultimate ‘Canes Weekend

If you’re anything like me, this is the slowest time of the year.  There’s no football, there’s no practice for football, and try as you might to find one, there is really no good excuse to tailgate.  So, you do things like offer to practically cater your friends’ beer pong tournament in the keys, just for an excuse to cook for ‘Canes fans (and try out your recipes for the Spring Game tailgate).  But now we have something coming up to look forward to in Coral Gables.

Two weekends from now, March 2 – 4, will be the ultimate ‘Canes weekend, especially for those of us starved for some football.  Below I have your itinerary for your trip to the promise land, which may be supplemented in the future with an allCanes event,  will most definitely be supplemented by drinks at Titanic, and information on how to get tickets.

  2. Nice first, Lou! Orange or green?

  3. C1,

Them Philly boys got their caps twisted on Walking. The farm crew is gettin unstable. Im glad to hear the director say that more zombies are gonna get involved, too. I’m ready for some more zombie murder-orgies.
    Cal,
Like I said….I did think Khan shaded that fight, and I do believe you gotta the belt from the champ.

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT….The champ should also have to defend it, in a convincing fashion. Amir did fight smart though, cause Peterson was swinging the kitchen sink. And Khan showed me a toughness that I didn’t know he had, either.

  4. Last week, CaneInsider had the unique opportunity to sit down with Miami Hurricane head coach Al Golden one-on-one for an interview. What follows is our reporting about coach Golden’s message to the NCAA regarding his program and what he hopes they understand about Miami under his leadership and its players. He makes the strongest statements to date about how he feels about the impending ruling and possible penalties over alleged misconduct by the University of Miami.

  5. Just ordered pink and white roses for the sweetest and prettiest lady I know . . .

She gave birth to me so she gets flowers and compliments.

Y’all better be getting your ish together for your girls!

  6. Hurri you know it!!

As soon as those dildos walked in, I knew someone wasn’t making it out.

Rick came out of the closet in that bar. I love it!

Fatty was too slow on the draw.

I am looking for Carl, Carol and Dale to get got ASAP. Can’t stand them.

Shyt got me hyped up. I will watch the talking dead tonight for the down low scoop.

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  7. Just talked to Jonathan from the ticket office who is going to give you guys a direct link to purchase baseball tickets. I will update the article when I receive it.

Individual baseball game tickets weren’t even for sale online before I called this morning.

    You’re welcome . . . .

  8. Thanks Jonathan!

  9. Working on some give-aways for the ultimate ‘Canes weekend for our local readers. :-)

  10. Cal that was cute what you did back there on the last blog…would have saved me a whole lot of money if I went that way…

  11. Wow, they are creating a special link and special to buy tickets to the Floriduh game just because of this article.

I should complain about stuff more often!

Just working out some kinks and it will be posted.

  12. And you guys are getting a group rate too!

  13. And there’s this:

Want to win access to the ‘Canes football open practice for “Fan Appreciation Day” and tickets to the Miami vs. Floriduh baseball game on Sunday, March 4 for you and a guest? Then share a picture of you, your family, your dog, etc. showing ‘Canes pride here on Eye of the Hurricane and CaneInsider’s Facebook pages. The person who gets the most “likes” before 2/29 wins tickets to the baseball game and access to the open practice. Just (1) Click “like” on Eye of the Hurricane’s and CaneInsider’s Facebook pages; (2) Post a picture on both pages showing ‘Canes pride; (3) Share Eye of the Hurricane and CaneInsider’s pages with your friends to get them to vote for your picture; and (4) Keep voting and keep your friends voting until midnight on 2/29. Huge shout out to BG, Canez, Este and all the other recruiting gurus for making my catch-up read informative and insightful.

Special shout out to Cal, McGillicutty, CCC and all the others for making it hilarious.

Looks like GOLDEN IS GOOD AS GOLD and up to his reputation in recruiting.
Gotta love letting Beamer know there’s a new sheriff in town.

Stealing one from Hurtt and Strong on defense says a helluva lot.

But of course Howard and Bush are the big ones.

    BUT THE QUESTION IS????

Can NO’d and Macdonald actually handle the talent????

I listened to Macdonald’s interview and I wasn’t impressed, especially when Jo asked him what does it mean to have athletes like these and he started stuttering and sputtering and hemming and hawing….lol…..that’s not what I want to hear from my DB coach. I think Cal mentioned that somewhere.

Give me Lovett and McGriff all day. LOL

But we’ll see. Clock’s ticking on NO’d AND Williams. But neither one had much to work with other than Spence, so they got their mulligan.

This Spring Ball should be very, very interesting. I expect Jeddi and #17 to light up the defense. Quietly, Jeddi will probably be the toughest OC NO’d faces all year, give or take.

All I know is that if teams are still dumping and dinking balls in the flat, the DC and DB coach replacement shortlist is coming out.

  17. avatar
    Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer says:

And did anyone notice how INTELLIGENT Golden’s presser was because of the absence of “she who shall remain unnamed”……lol

MCDonald makes Williams look almost semi-literate. Maybe Williams is just playing close to the vest…….hmmmm…we’ll see

Malcolm Lewis vid…..at 1:44 he adjusts to the underthrown ball and goes up and makes the catch over the CB the way #3 NEVER DID…….

    Just sayin….

Looking at this talent we might not miss a beat this year on O. If Mike James, Hall and Clements can pick up the slack and run hard, and let Duke play as a luxury, we might even improve. Lewis looks better right now than all our WRs who left except Streeter…..

    Hahaha, it’s about to CRUNK!

  21. Capt – Hall is on his way out. Can’t behave like a good boy

    —————-

Now that’s the mudda Phuggin question of the off season right there. I don’t think they can but we shall see.

Me, este, & Cal already talked about that interview bruh! It was extra sketch and not to convincing of improvement or even having a clue.

I too expect Jeddi to slice and dice Don’kno’d’frio to pieces. A bunch of newbies on offense(which is harder to teach and gel) make the guys on defense look terrible. And even though it’s defense(easier to coach and quicker to gel), people will still run into a wall of excuses for No D’frio and his lack of playcalling!!!

  23. Expect to see crazy spring game and practice stats like we did last year..

Receivers amassing 800 and 1,000 yards receiving after only a handful of spring scrimmages “WOW THEY MUST BE GREAT”

No, the defense was just that god awful. lol

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yeah, man, Williams is about the least impressive interview I’ve seen since Cal’s favorite man Clint “high motor” Hurtt. But Hurtt was charismatic about it. Williams was damn near comatose. smh…..

And after watching the Giants DL ONCE AGAIN handle the Pats and Brady, I still say the 4-3 is the way. And didn’t they handle the defending Super Bowl Belt wearing Aaron Rodgers too?? Hmmmmm

We shall see. Howard could come in and start easily and Bush is probably a better CB than any of the CBs on the roster, unless I’m forgetting someone.

NO’d is on a short leash with me, just from an ATTITUDE perspective. His attitude is scurred. Maybe he’ll learn a new leaf or two watching some GB or Pittsburgh film about how to ATTACK with the 3-4.

I’m not holding my breath though…lol

    >>>>>>>>>

So that’s why he was saying “we’re thin at RB…” dang. Oh well. Maybe Dallas Crawford might move there for the season.

  26. Cap,

That DB was actually a commit of ours in Antonio Crawford, I BELIEVE.
The kid we plucked from GT.

  27. The DB at 1:44 on the under thrown ball wasn’t Crawford

The very first highlight of the Malcolm Lewis reel was Crawford and there was nothing he could do on the play, esp. when his Safety didn’t help him at all

bg1906 – pulling signing day highlights from my station … remember those pics I posted on here of my boy Rayshawn Jenkins from signing day? Yep.

  44. Josh is making changes. Hang in there.

  45. Sorry that several hours of comments were deleted. It took 18 hours to transfer all of the site’s files onto the new server!

  46. Another change besides the server is that we are on http://www.eyeofthehurricane.net, not http://www.eyeofthehurricane.net/wordpress, so change your bookmarks to that. Josh is working on a redirect.

More FUN changes to come, less of this kind of WTF?! changes. :-)

  47. Six,

At least somebody is making sense of the Lin and Tebow similarities!!

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2012/02/jeremy-lin-tim-tebow.html

  48. The redirect is now working for those of you like Muffins who are just a pretty face.

    Welcome back! :-D

  49. Bori – I’m impressed to tell you the truth that a fishwrap as big as the LA Times printed that .. usually it’s someone that is a contributing writer to some hack site like Bleacher Report, but to have the LA Times post it, well that’s progress

I’d still like to see it as front page news in the Sports section – with the title being something like “Just Stop” and breaking down how the two aren’t alike

That little piece doesn’t even approach the type of socio-economic impact Lin has or how if he keeps it up, David Stern will probably exploit the hell out of him in reaching the NBA out to any Asian country, not just primarily China

-No D1 scholly, had to send DVDs out to schools to try and get a scholly, went to go play at Harvard and graduated from Harvard

-Got released from how many NBA teams?

    – Played for what, 4 NBA D League teams?

    – Was at the ass end of the bench behind a PG who led the Hornets (5 times) & Warriors (1st time since 1994 and also pulled the biggest upset in NBA history when an #8 seed beat a #1 seed in a 7 Game Series) to the playoffs

    – Went to a public school and his dad would call the principal if he came home with an A-, telling the principal that if Jeremy didn’t take care of business in the classroom and turn it into an A asap, he wouldn’t be playing basketball anymore

    – Parents were immigrants, father had a dream to become an engineer so he went to Purdue I believe?

    – Doesn’t have 2 NChamp rings (1 earned as the starting QB) or Heisman

    – Haven’t seen him lose yet, but doubt that he’ll cry his eyes out

    – Wasn’t physically imposing in college so he could just truck certain players over, isn’t physically imposing now so he’ll just drive down the lane knocking people over

    – How many Asians can you remember playing in the NBA at PG as opposed to white QBs in the NFL

  50. Six

The bucs cut haynesworth whoooo hooo

TCU just got busted for football playes dealign drugs, if this was the U the entire ESPN would be at our campus

  51. LOL, Hassan, it would be like an episode of Law and Order on campus and every channel would have 24/7 coverage like they were raping little boys on campus or something.

    Too soon?

    You forgot one thing.

Lin, while a man of faith, is not a “faith showboater” like Teabag.

Before I start getting hate on this comment, let it be known that I have no problem with displays of faith or ministry or missionary work. I was brought up in a religious home, so I get it.

But I personally feel that constantly using faith to call attention to oneself is hypocritical and insincere. Not every first down or TD is a mandate from God declaring you as God’s personal messenger of faith and goodness, I believe someone else had that role 2000 years ago.

  53. TCU at least handles it in the correct manner, for now

“The students involved were immediately separated from TCU and criminally trespassed from campus. Further, according to University policy, students arrested and found in violation of distributing drugs are subject to immediate expulsion from TCU.”
