Renew Your Football Season Tickets by March 30th!

By now, all 2011 season ticket holders should have received their renewal package in the mail.  This year, the ‘Canes welcome 32 new players, and home games against Florida State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, South Florida, NC State and Bethune-Cookman. There will also be some changes to the status quo for ticket holders.  Some important notes:

  • Ticket Packages: 2012 Season Ticket packages start as low as $25 per game.  Alcohol free [and therefore, JSQ-free] sections will be available in designated “Family Plan” areas on the 400 level as well as the Club level.  Family Plan packages start at $97 per seat and offer a 35% savings off regular Season Ticket pricing.  The map at right shows you all seats available and the donation/ticket cost for each.
  • Select-A-Seat: Before the annual Spring Game, UM will host a Select-A-Seat event at Sun Life Stadium at 11:30 a.m.  Those fans that have placed a deposit for Season Tickets will be given the opportunity to choose their preferred seating the week prior to the Spring Game. The Hurricanes Ticket Sales Office will open up all available seats for the Spring Game that are not renewed before March 30th.
  • Parking: As an additional bonus to Season Ticket Holders, UM will be offering discounted parking in the lot of your choice.  Orange is the most affordable and allows you to tailgate with people who did not plan ahead and purchase advance-pay parking, but you are also directed where to park.  Green lot is the tailgating lot, opens an hour earlier than all other lots, and you can park whereever you want.  You can see a breakdown of all parking options in the picture at right.
  •  Away Games: All Hurricane Club members will have the opportunity to request away game tickets between the dates of April 16-May 31.  Those who donate $250 or more will be eligible to purchase season tickets for the UM vs. Notre Lame game held at Soldier Field on October 6th.  Additional information regarding ticket prices and ticket limits for all away games will be mailed out in early April to Hurricane Club members.  Please not that away game tickets are only available to current Hurricane Club members.
  • Save $10:  Save $10 by printing your own season tickets from home.  The Hurricane Ticket Office is encouraging Season Ticket Holders to print their tickets from home for the following reasons: (1) Save $10; (2) You won’t need to call asking when tickets will be mailed; (3) You can’t lose them because you will always be able to access through your Ticketmaster account; (4) You can access your tickets on your smart phone and the stadium attendants can scan them off our phone screen at the gate; (5) No extra charges to reprint tickts; (6) You can forward your friends tickets via e-mail; (7) Beginning this football season, UM will not longer be printing season tickets on commemorative stock, so you aren’t missing anything.
  • 40For40:  Now celebrating its 40th Anniversary, the Hurricane Club is asking that all Hurricane Club members give an additional $40 in support of the 40 for 40 campaign.  Even if you are not a member, please consider joining the Hurricane Club today for as little as $40. Every donation counts! For more information, please call 305.284.6699 or visit www.UHurricaneClub.com.

You don’t want to miss out on your chance to be a part of the 2012 season!  Renew your tickets today through www.HurricaneSports.com or by calling 305.284.6699.  GO ‘CANES!!!

I’m taking a risk with the Floriduh game, though.

    — Evangelist Pat Robertson of the 700 Club, talking about Denver’s decision to sign Peyton Manning and trade Tebow.

  35. Mandatory Knee Braces

For the Life of me I do not know why this is not a requirement. Bill Parcells did this and many other NFL teams have instituted this. There are many studies that PROVES this reduced injuries and a brace by no means compromises performance. Some teams require them for practice and allow players to wear what they want for games. I think we need this policy, Staff could we ever pose this question to the coaching/equipment staff and see if they would consider this. I honestly can’t see why they would oppose it. I understand they are expensive (aprox $1,500) for each lineman but CFB is a big business now and even a small private school can afford this cost

  36. UM Canes guard Jon Feliciano out for the rest of spring with injury (knee)

Just got the message from Chris Freet, UM associate athletic director for communications and marketing, that UM guard Jon Feliciano, a redshirt sophomore, is out for the rest of spring “after suffering an injury in the March 24 scrimmage.

“Feliciano will be further reviewed this week.”

The injury that we saw he suffered in the scrimmage at Ted Hendricks Stadium was, unfortunately, a right-knee injury.

I talked to Jon immediately after the scrimmage, when he had his right knee heavily bandaged, and had a large bag of ice over it. He was understandably upset, but gracious as ever.

He had leg injury problems last season, too, so you have to feel for him (and the Canes).

Here’s how he described the situation on Saturday:

“I was pulling and I hit the safety, Ray-Ray, [and] OT [RB Eduardo Clements] was about to break but he got hit in the back and he kind of fell into my knee. Hopefully it’s just a sprain. They haven’t told me anything. I’ll just keep some ice on it and see how it goes.”

Here’s hoping it isn’t too bad for Jon.

    ### Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch said Dallas Crawford, who switched from cornerback to running back last month, has moved to receiver, where UM expects him to do damage in the slot…. Al Golden said Asante Cleveland has been the best of the tight ends but “that group has to really keep coming.” David Perry had a goal-line fumble in Saturday’s scrimmage and Clive Walford isn’t quite at the level the staff wants…. Receiver Kendal Thompkins has flashed in past springs, then had little opportunity when the season started. But Golden said he believes this year might be different.

  47. JSQ that is pathetic, as it would be wishful thinking that everyone has four tix like me (I renewed earlier today).

  48. I would hope that at least half are buying for others, and I’m hoping we have a lot of procrastinators.

I also know of two new season ticket holders come April 14.

I’m optimistic that they have 20k seats taken by Friday.

    Coach NoD with more “explanations”:

“Last year was really difficult,” D’Onofrio said of the team’s cornerback play. “I really didn’t have anybody experienced to work with. Brandon was the fourth corner blah blah blah Mike Williams didn’t play for a year and them came over here blah blah blah Thomas Finnie was a freshman. JoJo Nicolas was a safety blah blah blah Lee Chambers was a running back.

Now for the “explanations” for this upcoming year (file these for usr at appropriate times during the season):

“The hard part for us now is I lost most of those guys. The only guys we got back were McGee and Finnie. blah blah blah blah Finnie didn’t get a lot of reps in games, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. We’ve got seven new guys coming in this class. blah blah blah blah blah blah.”

Not excuses, these are explanations, right? lol

Seriously I’ve refrained from piling on NoD (New Year’s resolution), but him and his “explanations” are like a reflex, I don’t think he can help himself, but it sure doesn’t sound good.

The one thing i know for sure, goldie & coach do noff know exactly what’s being said about our defense and our corners playing to soft. p.w. knows it too. They know we not use to letting hte other teams receivers have free reign all game long and eat us up with slants and bubble screens all game long. We use to seeing each db take a man and stick a man, and use the other 7 or 8 guys to take care of everything else.

Notre Dame in the Big East? not in football, which is their big money-maker.

Virginia is the top earning ACC school? Is it because they do the (old) Marlins approach of not spending their revenue sharing money?

UF at 10 million while Miami is a 2.5 million, can the state government cut their funding a bit rather than letting them jack up their tuition, again? My TAX DOLLARS are helping them bail out their players, it must be stopped!

bg spoke on flowers several times in the past and flowers definitely is no jason fox, he sets out to destroy guys all game long. For real, if somebody is not all world at their positions on that o-line, i got flowers unseating somebody, he debo’s people out their on that field, that’s the only way he knows how to play.

i like what orlando franklin brought to the o-line, and since him, we’ve been getting more and more physical on the o-line, brandon washington and tackle made him play to soft, but with the guys we got, with kehoe holding it down, we talking bout a guy who assembled one of the best o-lines in college football history, and as true with all kehoe’s o-lines, big running plays are going to be normal round here, he understands how to create creases and running lanes.

  59. Golden was effusive about Henderson on Tuesday, saying he practiced with “energy” and proper “technique.” He also praised tight end Asante Cleveland, noting that Tuesday was “his best day by far. The guy who has got the most laser-like focus in that position right now, and is the same guy everyday, is Asante.”

On the defense, cornerback Brandon McGee has gone from third team to wearing the coveted black jersey of starters.

“I see a kid that’s very talented, that’s willing, that’s working hard,” Golden said of McGee. “We just have got to get him to the point where he has enough confidence to then go out and make plays, not freelance, but go out and finish plays.”

What’s ridiculous is that UiF sports full squads (with all the amenities) of all the big money losing sports (women’s softball, gymnastics, etc) as well as offering FULL scholarships for all minor sports. All at taxpayer expense.

You’re right, they could offer lower tuition with all the money they throw down the hole in the Athletic dept.

UM on the other hand doesn’t even field most of those sports, and even in baseball has many partial scholarships. UiF baseball players all get a free ride.
