Nice first, Autumn! Orange or green?
I don’t think we offered Cunningham?
Denver Kirkland was gonna make a peanut butter sandwich but he changed his mind to bologna. He may still consider peanut butter though.

He was listed in bg’s article, thus he is listed above.
I would rather drive nails into my eyes than follow recruiting so I just followed bg.
bg – a lot of chatter on the internets about AC to the hogs, do you still feel he’s solid?
Welcome back DZ8 and Autumn
So true right here about last night …

F*ck Roger Goodell

Heard someone on rivals reported a “time served” judgement for the U?
Be glad when Wednesday gets here. So I can size up this class see how the pieces fit with returning players. Coach them up and I wanna see 5 things. 1. Win ACC Coastal, 2. Win the ACC, 3. Win the Discover Orange Bowl. 4. Beat Floriduh. 5. Beat FSWHO.
If AC is anything but a Cane tonight, drinks on me.
I would be SHOCKED!!
But like BG said, its been nuttier than ever this yr!!
GO CANEZ!!!!!
Link to announcement?
Favorite line from last night… What a coincidence I blacked out in New Orleans also!
This whole thing about going to Atlanta to announce on a station that 99% of South a florida can’t get is just weird.
But whatever. Hope he comes, but if he doesn’t then c’est la vie. We’re still stomping the turds next fall. That’s what’s more important to me.
Wendy is about to beat the crap out of Cartman…
DZ that’s no lie. I think many of us have done that or come close. Bourbon street usually has a nice slick of vomit by 4 am when it’s a busy night. You don’t want to pass out there.
He probably doesn’t realize that and just wants the plane ride and spotlight.
The chips are about to start falling, let them fall where they may. I trust that Golden n staff have worked and done everything possible. You can sleep easy when you give it your best.
Lemming LOVES Golden and had him in his top 5 recruiters… That’s good enough for me.
Good to be back to all… Thanks.
(Now Cartman is talking about those darn GingerKids! Lol)
Really bad link for AC:

Alex Collins is up now. I am watching
The chat going on on the AC link is priceless
Damn…he committed to Arkansas!
Drinks on C1!!!
That’s embarrassing. Stood up by what’s going to be a bottom feeder in the SEC before too long.
PhillyCane, I was just saying the same thing….
Drinks on Canez1 tonight! But I don’t think I’m going to be able to get to New England tonight… Dam!
Welp! That’s the recruiting game for you. On to the next one, no use in crying about it.
The new coach will do well in Arkansas… They’re on the upswing or will be soon. JMO
I really like Alex and wish him well. I never felt too comfortable with him, Thomas or Kirkland. We’ll see what happens next. I just hope that if we miss on our targets, we just keep a small class and save the spots for next year. We’ll be fine.
GO CANES
That’s recruiting…
Win some, you lose some! Hopefully we fare better on Wednesday. He’s a very talented RB and in Bielema’s offense he will be very good.
Cunningham has been recruited. Doesn’t have committable offer YET. Could depend on Coley or they could just let him walk. We’ll see.
“Every school had something to offer,” Collins said. “I like the fact they run the ball. I am familiar with the coaching staff there. I can trust them.”
There’s that word I kept mentioning when talking about the stuff that happened with Kirkland….TRUST
I’m sure some people are feeling this way…LMBO!
http://gifsforum.com/images/gif/rage/grand/black_man_rage_gif.gif
Fayetteville smells like dog food.
Attention now turns to Gus Edwards. He’s a POUNDER. Isn’t as electric as Collins but a DAMN good looking RB.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-tMT8TdXBk
yep! sure does!
Dallas and Houston oil Money combined with Walmart money is a Biotch. Not surprised at all. Go Canes.
Lol JSQ on Fayetteville smelling like dog food. classic
Bg,
That ^!99@ was mad as sh!t
Terrance.
NO money, nothing dirty. Just better relationship with that staff. We lost and we’ll lose again on Wednesday. Its part of the recruiting game. I said early on that Wisconsin was the group to look out for in regards to Collins. Well Wisky’s coaches are now all at Arkansas.
Hurri.
Yeah he was! Hahahaha!
Bg – seriously, this had nothing to do with Kirkland.
So he picks a school that went 5-7 last year one of the biggest disappointments in college football lose most of their good players. I see he scared to be great D. Coward syndrome.
Cx3.
I didn’t say it did. BUT it DID have to do with relationships and trust and THAT was one of the reason’s I had a problem with what happened with Kirkland it messed up the TRUST. Of course that had nothing to do with this.
Terrence
So what was SO MUCH better about us? We went 7-5 and have the NCAA on our ass? They are 1 year removed from major bowls and were viewed as a contender before Petrino f’d up. Then add to the fact that Wisconsin has been STRONG nearly every year has been coach and they PUNKED us in the Champs Sports Bowl. Just lose gracefully! WE LOST! Its part of the game, its OK! We’ll lose some more on Wednesday and that’s OK TOO. Can’t get them all! As Golden don’t worry about the one’s you didn’t get, be happy for the ones you did, because THEY WANTED TO BE HURRICANES!
With Alex Collins announcing Monday night that he’s committing to Arkansas, UM badly needs Staten Island-based running back Augustus Edwards to choose the Hurricanes over FSU.
With Wednesday’s National Signing Day looming, here’s an update on the status and announcement plans of several recruits in the mix for UM:
### Defensive tackle Jaynard Bostwick (announcing 8 a.m. Wednesday). His coach calls it a tossup among UM, UF and Alabama. His coaches say he’s close with UF’s defensive coaches, but he also liked his visit here.
### Offensive tackle Denver Kirkland (9 a.m. Wednesday, ESPNU). No, this is not a joke. Booker T. Washington coach Tim Harris told us that he believes Miami is back in the mix for Kirkland, as this soap opera continues. He’ll choose among UM, FSU and Arkansas.
### Linebacker Matthew Thomas (9 a.m. Wednesday, ESPNU). FSU has always been confident, but UM, Alabama, Georgia and Southern Cal remain in the mix, according to ESPN.
### Receiver Stacy Coley (11 a.m. Wednesday, ESPNU). FSU has pulled even with the Canes, according to Canesport.com. USF and Mississippi are behind them. This is the one receiver Miami really wants.
### Defensive tackle Keith Bryant (1 p.m. Wednesday, ESPNU). His coach said FSU has pulled ahead of South Carolina and UM, but there’s no final decision. FAU told him to go home during his visit a couple days ago because the coaches thought he wasn’t treating it seriously.
### Linebacker Jermaine Grace (2 p.m. Wednesday, ESPNU). Down to UM and Louisville. Grace once heavily favored the Hurricanes, but the Cardinals have made a strong late push.
### Running back Augustus Edwards (undetermined time Wednesday). He liked his Miami visit, and it’s considered a tossup between UM and FSU.
### Defensive tackle Terrell Brooks. The junior college All-American will choose among UM, Baylor and Kansas State sometime in the next 24 to 48 hours. He has been very complimentary of UM publicly.
### Also, ESPNU lists UM, Stanford and Vanderbilt as finalists for University School receiver Jordan Cunningham, who will announce at 10 a.m. Wednesday on ESPN.com. But his coach said UM hasn’t pursued him much recently.

Then why even bring Kirkland up, unless you’re saying there’s a problem with Golden with respect to trust and relationships? If not, then what are you saying?
I’ll say this, we may miss on a few recruits, but I’ll take this staff any day over the last one. We were getting killed in Dade in case you don’t remember. Especially after 08.
wonder what Golden and Crew are up to at this moment?lol
Ok BG enjoy it man.
Cx3.
With all due respect Bro stop jumping to conclusions and being so confrontational bro! The key word was TRUST. He said he TRUSTED them. So I used the Kirkland reference along with what Collins said to show how important TRUST and relationships are in the recruiting process. YES I do think Golden was rash at BTW because I think he breached the trust and relationship there. THAT will take time and effort to repair. Is it irreparable? No. But is it damaged? Yes I’d say so. I was not in the least hinting that the Kirkland situation had ANYTHING to do with this. All this was was that we LOST. Its part of the recruiting game. Their staff out recruited ours. When we win, our staff out recruited theirs. That’s recruiting! Again bro, I’m not arguing with you, just stating my point. All due respect.
Also Terrance, wasn’t being confrontational. Just saying, the staff lost. Its ok. They’ll be other Alex Collins’
That’s true BG just venting man. It’s all good. Anyways Go Canes.
Alex Collins was a Cane lock…hours later he’s a coward lol.
If Kirkland becomes a Cane on Wednesday, its gonna be weird to revisit the personal attacks lobbed against him over the last week and without the full story.
If it wasn’t fair to blame Golden for the Kirkland situation without the whole story, then it definitely wasn’t right to vilify and dis Kirkland (a teenager) without the whole story as well.
All BG said is that no matter the circumstance and intricacies, at this present time (NSWeek), the situation is not a good look for UM. No one can dispute that. And that sentiment is not an attack on Al Golden.
Lets get this straight: UM football and Coach Al Golden will not and would not win one football game without South Florida’s urban athlete. Show some respect to the constant…the kids. Our coaches have always come and gone.
The obligatory attack on AG by Zakkee. I knew it was coming. Smdh.
Bager Vance is an awesome movie, one of my favorites for awhile. And the point is to find YOUR “authentic swing”.
Who cares what anyone else is doing?
Best of luck to Collins. I really think Bielesma? will do fine at Arkansas and with his system I’d love to be a RBI there.
I’ll worry about the ones that want to be Canes.
And yes, Al Golden needs the “urban” Miami kid because he coaches the MIAMI Hurricanes.
From the department of redundancy department.
What started as a standard post-Super Bowl interview about the playbook and the power outage turned into one of the most powerful and poignant moments of the entire week.
Ed Reed, despite being arguably the greatest safety of the modern era, was largely overlooked in the run up to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans. Much of the ink went to the Harbaugh brotherhood and Ray Lewis’ show of faith. But Reed, with his shock of gray hair and baritone voice, has a gravitas that makes him as much of a leader as his much-hyped teammate and his star head coach. And in an on-set interview with NFL Network on Sunday night, Reed spoke about brotherhood and faith in a moment that immediately transcended even the NFL’s biggest stage.
Ed Reed celebrates after defeating the San Francisco 49ers. (AP)”I sat in that room all week,” Reed told Deion Sanders (3:30 mark of video above). “I ain’t cut the TV on all this week , just looking at that river, thinking about my brother.”
Reed began by talking about how he didn’t watch TV all week, preferring instead to look out the window at the Mississippi River. Two years ago, Reed’s brother, Brian, ran out of gas not far from New Orleans and a police officer stopped to help. A deputy radioed in to say the car was not authorized, and Brian started to run. He apparently jumped into the river, where his body was found weeks later.
Sanders put his right arm around Reed, and the safety broke down.
He collected himself and mentioned late owner Art Modell, and the little brother of receiver Torrey Smith, who passed away earlier this season.
“Everything we went through to get this,” he said, voice cracking. “It’s like the exclamation mark on my career.”
[Related: Harbaugh family comforts, celebrates Jim and John after emotional game]
Then Reed launched into a mini-sermon about religion. Now in some cases, maybe in most cases, sports fans don’t want to hear about Jesus. A lot of people think it’s silly that a higher power could possibly care about the outcome of a football game, or help one team win because of prayer or devotion. Yet Reed’s speech hit a different note, about humility and humanity. And it was hard not to be in the moment with him.
“It’s not about me,” Reed said. “I’m gonna do my little part. I’m not perfect. I’m gonna do my little part to help these kids, to give them the information to be better men.”
It’s possible Reed was alluding to his brother, who reportedly had battles with mental illness. In a New York Times story last week, writer Judy Battista quoted Reed’s high school coach, who wondered if Reed felt he could have helped had he been with his brother that day. But whoever Reed was addressing Sunday night, the Ravens safety sent a message we can all heed: we can all reach out, because we often don’t know who’s suffering until it’s too late.
“We need to stop judging,” Reed said. “Help each other, encourage each other. I know it’s tough times, but we need to help each other, encourage each other.”
Reed is a big brother not only to Brian, but to teammates on the Ravens and the Miami Hurricanes before that. That’s really the greatness of Reed, even apart from his ability to see plays before they happen.
Lewis wasn’t much of a factor on Super Bowl Sunday, but Reed had an interception and made the game-saving tackle on Frank Gore late in the fourth quarter. He sees the bigger picture, both on and off the field, and that kind of player comes along just as rarely as someone like Ray Lewis.
Super Bowl XLVII will be remembered for the Harbaugh brothers and for Ray Lewis’ preaching and for the power outage. But Reed’s preaching about brotherhood should stay with those who saw it for a long time.
Thanks Zakkee! I think sometimes if you are critical of UM in any way, you are viewed as ANTI. I love this program, just as other do. However, I call it like I see it. If I think we eff up, then I say that. Its not an indictment on my loyalty or fanhood, just means I see things realistically and not through orange and green glasses. If we aren’t real about who and what we are, then who will be?
So a kid who grew up worshiping the Canes, had the same staff recruiting him for over a year who he had previously committed to, visited half a dozen times, knows and gets along with a ton of kids on this roster, has a chance for immediate playing time in front of his home town fans at a school his mother desperately wanted him to attend and a chance to play in a BCS bowl as a freshman decides with a month left he wants to attend freaking Arkansas, a doormat squad with a new coach and a roster void of talent to get his head bashed in my Bama, Georgia and LSU because he trusts the staff?
Give me a break.
bg – I wasn’t being confrontational but just stating my opinion. I may not always agree with yours, but I still value and respect it. It’s just that in my opinion too much is being made of this whole other situation, of which we’ve only gotten ONE side. That’s all.
Look who knows, maybe we don’t hit all our targets this time, with the unrelenting NCAA negativity as well as counter-recruiting and then all the negative press led by the splooge-rag Herald and Manny Navarro, it wouldn’t surprise me. The staff will adapt and make do, I’m sure.
As far as slamming recruits, who has done that here? Nobody. Sure we can say we think somebody made a mistake, but there have been no personal attacks, Zak.
To set the record straight, in my opinion, here’s why he chose Arkansas.
He already had developed a relationship with the coaches in Wisky prior to their move to pig sooey. He wants to the featured back a la Bielema and Ball at Wisky. He was told he that was going to be his role. He didn’t want to share the carries, he was sold on the idea of being the Montee Ball of the SEC. He feels that’s his ticket. Even with all that, the pull of the U was strong, but not strong enough for him to to walk away from what he was promised – the featured back.
And I’ll buy the drinks if that doesn’t end up being the reason.
Randy Shannon had nothing to do with this. Race had nothing to do with this. Kirkland had nothing to do with this. He made a business decision he thought was best for him. Whether that was the right decision only time will tell.
He could have come here and balled out and taken less of a pounding, and still have been great, but oh well.
Didn’t Bielema and Arky have two other running backs commit just a few days prior? Though I am sure they aren’t as highly ranked as Alex Collins, doesn’t that make the backfield just a little more crowded and increases his competition, while decreasing his chances of being the featured back. Not to mention they already have about 6 incoming RBs already on their roster, according to a 2012 depth chart (this doesn’t include 2 upperclassmen who presumably won’t be on the team next season, Knile Davis entering the draft and another SR. on board). Had he came to Miami yes he would have split carries with Duke Johnson this year, but then in 2014 it was all but certain he would have been the featured back. Don’t get me wrong, I have no ill feelings towards Collins and his decision, i just think the Arkansas coaches may have told him what he wanted to hear. I know he said he felt like Arkansas was the best decision for him, and I hope that proves to be true in the long run because, from the looks of it he will be going into a crowded backfield.
Yeah KB, but I’ll bet he was told he was going to be it, the main man, the featured back. Bielemas track record with MB was the proof/selling point. Those other backs are no competition and AC knows it.
Look, imo, he would have been better off down here, but he doesn’t see it that way.
I just see other people in the twatterverse, internets, etc, trying to spin this into a Randy Shannon thing, a race/305 thing, or Kirkland thing, and I vehemently disagree. Those are people that have agendas against this staff and the school and just use this in a cynical attempt to further their own racist agendas
There are knuckleheads even blaming Shalala. Really? What a fringin joke
Do we play against Arkansas? No. So then if he had to not choose Miami, I am glad he went somewhere that we don’t have to see him for five years.
One thing he said during the interview last night was that he had never really been outside of Dade/Broward county and he wanted to try somewhere different. I remember a few years ago listening to an interview with Darrelle Revis recalling his recruiting days. He said he was down to Penn St. and Pitt and he, along with his mother drove to PSU for an official visit. He made the statement that once he saw that PSU was in the middle of nowhere he knew he wanted to go to Pitt and the rest was history. Although not totally similar, these are more intrinsic factors that oftentimes go into a recruit like AC’s decision to commit elsewhere. Things like that are very hard to recruit against.
Not going to wish the kid well.
Your either with us or against us.
You’re
PB
You missed the point. His HS Coach whom Alex has a TREMENDOUS amount of trust in has a TREMENDOUS amount of trust and a very real PERSONAL relationship with that staff. SO because Gatewood believes so strongly in them, Alex did too. Its a good situation for him. WE have to get over ourselves. Not every kid is going to come here. When we shun them they have issues but when they shun us we don’t understand or they are stupid. That’s corny. Bottom line is we got beat recruiting THIS KID by THAT STAFF. No more, no less. We’ll win our share and we’ll lose or share. All part of the recruiting game.
Cx3
All good. All of your points are correct on the post about why. Silk Alex said himself he trusts them. Not saying he didn’t trust us, but trust and relationship are one of the major components of recruiting.
Despite reports prior that AC was all Canes, as fans I think we all let a couple warning signs cloud our judgment. Thinking about this today, this is what I think we should remember:
1) He decommitted. Rarely do these kids come back.
2) The best thing AC always said about us was we put guys in the league. Nothing about how he felt at home, etc. He is an articulate, honest kid and so if he felt differently I think he would have expressed that.
3) I honestly believe he thought he would commit to UM until it became time to pull the trigger and it didn’t feel right. The fact that so many thought it would be UM validates this to me.
4) His strongest guiding force was pro-Wisky/ARK and for him it might not have been about even making the coach happy as much as it was a comfort level that when paired with good reasons, made his decision.
As bg has rightly said, you win some you lose some. While depth wise we needed this kid and his great talent, SoFla will always produce RBs and so as long as we hit next year, we will be ok.
Wish AC best of luck. He didn’t play games , decommitted early when he wasn’t sure , and announced his intensions early so other teams could move on to their plan B’s. Lot’s of respect for him for taking his time and playing the game IMO right. Still wish he was in Green and Orange next year
And I know points 1 and 3 contradict themselves a little in my above post, but point is he was close to actually doing the unusual and being the exception to the rule.
Just in case, as a reminder:
Duke Johnson
Dallas Crawford
Danny Dillard
Eduardo Clements
& whoever we sign
Plus next year, Sonny Michel & a bunch of others.
Neeeext
I haven’t seen Sony Michel in person since a Nike recruiting camp in Spring 2011 and he was scary good then, and that was just at drills. Can’t wait for him to be a ‘Cane!
Beilema’s staff has made huge connections with the coaches at plant and south plant. They’re building a pipeline to broward. The kid wanted a change of scenery, can’t hate hin. He wouldn’t have been a feature back until 2015 though. Duke didn’t.redshirt so we get 3 years of his awesomeness.
Dang, DAT, that article on Reed gave me chills. Thanks for posting.
How is Mrs. DAT doing? How far along is she now, 6 months?
Lol @ blaming Shalala for AC going to Hogtown.
Nevertheless, many people may soon be getting their wish on that front …
Lol I will pay up in Pittsburgh!!!
IMO the looming sanctions got to him. He has been scared of them since he decommited and probably the main reason he jumped ship in the first place. Can’t imagine living in that shythole for the next few yrs.
Plus his coach has been pushing this as well.
Kid was always respectful, so even tho I can’t wish him well, I do hope he lives a long life and avoids the HIV.
Can’t fault us for lack of effort.
Oh well.
Big fish still in play. Should be interesting.
GO CANEZ!!!!!
Cx3
Not so fast on Sony. He’s a NATIONAL recruit and WILL entertain the guys. S. Florida is LOADED for 2014 and we will be raided. Cristobal and Coley SHOULD pay dividends but by no means are these slam dunks. The Duke Johnson loyal type of kids are few and far between. In fact, Dalvin Cook and Joseph Yearby are along with Michel form the 3 best RBs in S. Florida next year. Unfortunately for us, Cook is already committed to Clemson (BUT is listening to us) and Yearby is committed to FSU. My article post signing day will NOT be a popular one, but it will be truthful.
…avoids the HIV.
lol
Love getting calls from Jesse Marks asking me where to hold the Hurricane Club events in Palm Beach county!
April 26th! Mark your calendars!!!
BG u are right u win some you lose some. Go Canes.
Listen to JC Shurburt’s interview.
http://wqam.com/
Did not I say many of these things.
Heard that in the car this morning, bg, and immediately thought of you!
I hope I’m wrong but I’m NOT feeling good about tomorrow. There will be bitterness, anger, weeping, and gnashing of teeth.
Sorry
;-(
JSQ
I love the Canes. You KNOW that. BUT I have to call it like I see it. Keep it 100%. Some appreciate that, some don’t.
We should get a commitment today from the DT Brooks out of Texas around 1 PM. Hopefully that doesn’t go up in smoke too! LOL. At any rate he reminds me of Olsen Pierre. Don’t know if that’s good or bad yet. I’m sure it won’t make people here excited though. LOL
Bg, we appreciate everything you bring to EOTH, no matter whether we are in 100% agreement or not. Nothing but love for ya!
I would love to be a fly on the wall in the room where AG and staff are preparing their signing day strategy
Bama’s new weight room…This is what we are up against. I know people don’t want to hear that but kids see this and think WOW…
http://usatodaysports.tumblr.com/post/42306873930/heres-a-look-at-alabamas-new-weight-room
Welp…
Anybody wanna offer some nickname suggestions if we land BOTH Thomas AND Coley??
Two for one deals, suckas.
Also…Anybody who met me at UVA knows my steez. I fux with all colors, and creeds, and only judge people by whether they’re a jackass or not. (And even then, I give as much benefit of the doubt that I can)
But I honestly wanna know why anytime someone suggests that race could be an issue, in relation to certain situations…It’s so often deferred to as using the “Race Card” particularly by those who have never had to deal with the plights of another particular ethnicity.
This isn’t an accusation of anyone here, either. No shots fired, and nobody try and use this as a platform to spew ignorance…Just a topic I wanted to get other’s opinions on.
It just crosses my mind every time ol Randolph gets brought up. It’s not the only situation that I’ve encountered over time, though. I’m only asking it in this forum because I trust that I’d get answers from rational people, who I’ve either met, or have bussed it up with enough, to know I can rap with them.
Why are we so quick to downplay racism/classification/socialism/ect in this world? Is it the fact that we (or at least the minority of reasonable humans on this planet) want it to dissolve so much, that we feel like if we acknowledge it, we might, even indirectly, empower it?
Word to Big Bird, it seems like sometimes we ignore/forget the fact that it exists, in every facet of society.
Winning cures all ills. We are poised for a huge season.
Still think we will get our share and then some.
Go Canes!
I will say lots of things are “swirling” about good and bad. I will just sit back and watch. Tomorrow will happen and I honestly believe NO ONE has a clue but the kids themselves. Prepare for the worse, hope for the best! Always has served me well!
BG, I disagree. I don’t even think some of the kids know at this point.
bg – You’re right, SM not a slam dunk for us in 2014, but I do think sanctions will be out of the way next year. We definitely have a shot, but nothing’s a sure bet in recruiting.
Also, yes, tomorrow may be less than what we want, but I know our staff is getting it done right, either way. The dividends may be down the road, but they’re coming.
C1 – I don’t doubt sanctions were part of the mix, but imo being a feature back in that type offense was a huge part of his decision. A lot of quotes are out there in that vein. Either way, it’s done, next man up.
CCC can’t disagree with those reasons. I have only heard him mention sanctions in every interview he has ever done, so you have to figure that had some play here.
Bg is spot on regarding the FL rbs next yr.These kids have been national targets for years and this will be a battle to the end.
Should be another fun yr.
We need an early signing day in the worst way. Nonsense will only get worse from here on out.
GO CANEZ!!!!!
if you care about greg cote’s opinion on collins:
HOW AND WHY CANES LOST RB RECRUIT COLLINS TO ARKANSAS: I know folks at South Plantation High; was the baseball announcer there for several years. And I can tell you Miami didn’t lose highly recruited 1aa1acollinsrunning back Alex Collins to Arkansas because of anything Al Golden’s staff did wrong. I am told Collins’ decision was based on two factors: 1) He had built up a strong relationship with Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema, and when the coach moved to Arkansas (on Dec. 4, 2012) and took his Miami-area recruiter Charlie Partridge with him, Collins’ thoughts immediately went with him to the Razorbacks because of that relationship. 2) The Southeastern Conference. Playing in America’s premier college-football conference was something Miami and the ACC could not offer. Despite Miami’s history of great running backs, Collins became convinced the SEC stage would better foster a future NFL career. A pretty major blow to UM’s recruiting class as Wednesday’s National Signing Day looms.

C1
We’ve needed an early signing period forever.
… And exactly why don’t we have an early signing period? Is there a downside? What’s the argument against it?
Cx3.
Who knows??? Basketball has one.
Hurri.
I will answer you question, I just don’t want to be the first to chime in. LOL
No one wants to touch that one Hurrifin, lol.
I think it does get played. I remember when Shannon was going down and some bloggers kept on bringing up Sporano for the Dolphins. I tried to make my points, he did win his division year one buying him some time. Injuries, etc… The fact that this is a Canes blog so no one was talking about Sparano. None of that worked so finally I just said, “cause he’s white.” Like Eddie Murphy in that skit where he “becomes white” and goes into a bank to apply for a loan and they just give him the money.
If the performance is there nobody talks about it, it doesn’t matter and that’s what I love about sports, just win baby. I hate when someone talks about the NFL being racist against black quarterbacks and then to make sure you know they aren’t racist they also complain about the lack of white receivers and cornerbacks. C’mon man. That’s like complaining because the NBA is prejudiced against midgets. In this day and age if you can play you get to play. Even if you abuse dogs (Vick) or rape women(rothlesberger).
I know it didn’t use to be that way and everyone should study history. But I don’t believe that means we should have a sub par QB to make up for Warren Moon having to play in Canada many years ago. Or keep a sub par coach because Eddie Robinson and many others never got a chance in the past.
JMO, orange n green ( and aqua and coral) are all I care about.
See bg1906!
No one wants to be first but someone has to be a trailblazer!
DZ8-checking in!
I missed DZ8…
Tomorrow will be ugly. Just a bad feeling.
Yo, Hurri, how did your friend take Sunday’s loss?
JSK is sending me pictures of what should have been the holding/PI call right now, poor thing.
No game should be decided by refs.
Checking IN JSQ. I got an iPad and a day off!
By the way, with all the ooohs and ahhhs about the Bama weight room, please check out what the Schwartz Center is looking like.
… and donate a brick while you are at it. That’s how nice facilities are made – donations – not by blog weight room envy.
And I can’t do a where will they go this year.
Or here it is.
Brandon McGee… 5th round.
Love it, DZ8!!! I hope the mobile app I put on here makes the site user-friendly for you!
lol, DZ8, I like the idea about also incorporating the ones who got away, or perhaps some discussion on what will happen in the off-season with existing Pro ‘Canes whose contracts are up and where you think they will land.
I will do a mock first round if you want. It might even include former Canes who weren’t good enough to play for us. Anyone remember Arthur Brown?
Esteban, you up for some kind of draft prognosticating collaboration?
That sounds good too, DZ8!
Esteban, buddy, where are you, I miss you!
You can’t do free agents with the draft JSQ, that’s sacrilegious.
I’ll check out a pending free agent list and see if anything is there.
When did you meet this JSK guy and why is he way out in Cali?
JSQ
I’m on the phone with him now.
That bama weight room looks a lot like ours minus the candy dishes of hgh and ground up deer cack scattered throughout.
Meh
Lmao@mcgoo
ABrown can’t learn his plays. Next stop…AA.
Smdh
GO CANEZ!!!!!
Does racism exist? Sure.
Does it impact my daily life? Only if I let it.
Do I let it? Only when I’m drunk.
Why do I drink? Because of racism.
Este been chasing too many chem trails.
Oh and still trying to figure out why we moved jake odonnell lol.
He’s busy.
GO CANEZ!!!!!
Hi Guys,
Just decided to chime in on the loss of A. Collins to Arky, I can only hope this will help with our recruiting of Cook and Sony in the 2014 class. Although both are National recruits I believe our depth chart is the most favorable. Duke will be a Junior when both of these guys decide to enroll and I’m sure they wouldn’t consider what we currently have as depth behind Duke as serious competition to sway them away from truly considering us. I think we can end up pulling in both Cook and Sony next year or at the very least 1 of the 2. Had Collins come in I’m not so sure we get any next year and imo Cook > Sony> Collins.
Also JSQ,
I concur with JSK’s feeling. I am a Niners fan and am still SICK from Sunday night but we contributed to the loss with too many mental errors in the first half and we just couldn’t overcome them in the end. I agree we should’ve ran the ball more on that last goal line stand instead of throwing it but it is what it is. The 2nd and goal call prior to the timeout that would’ve resulted in the delay of game was a running play which I believe Kaepernick would’ve scored on. We showed our hand and Baltimore knew what was coming so we decided to throw. Being a Canes fan we know you can’t leave the game in the refs hand, so I won’t even comment on that last play, I just hope they all learn from this and return to take care of unfinished business next year.
I hear ya DZ.
No qualms with that opinion. And I appreciate the rational answer, my guy.
In Randy’s case, it appears that he just flat out had no business being a head coach. Not here anyways…This thing kinda landed in his lap, and he just WASNT well-equipped enough to navigate it, and obviously he’d have been a fool to not take the potential pay.
I’d imagine that the reason there aren’t many Caucasian dbs, is that for whatever reason, my lighter brothers just don’t run 4.3 at the combine.
I hope I’m not being ignorant by believing that its a genetic thing. If anyone hear is a geneologist or sumthin like that…Feel free to correct me.
Now with the black QB’s…I think that they are just so used to being allowed by their pee-wee, little league, HS coaches to win with athleticism (believe me…I see it a ton here in Hampton Roads, and I’d imagine you guys in SoFla see it even more) that they become indignant when it’s time to be a pro, and learn the actual nuances of the position. I believe that’s what ultimately creates the whole “Black QBs Aren’t Smart Enough/Capable of Consistently Running NFL Offenses” stigma.
Remember when the Panther’s owner or GM or whatever, told Cam Newton he didn’t want his Franchise QB sporting tattoos, and jewelry, or whatever?
What made him assume that Cam would do those things?
Does questioning that mean I’m playing the race card?
Perhaps if Newton was of another ethnicity…and wasn’t from Atlanta…and didn’t get caught up with the stolen laptops, the owner would’ve made the same request?
The mind reels.
It’s not just sports though. It’s everywhere.
Good one Canes Outsider… That’s why I drink also.
DZ8, JSK was born and raised in San Fran, he doesn’t live there anymore. I went to high school with him in Missouri.
The ‘Canes are why I drink.
I blame Kyle Wright and Jacory Harris amongst many others for the deterioration of my liver.
I don’t even have a glass of wine with dinner or a beer here and there in the off-season. Not unless I’m on vacation (which I’m not allowed to take in the off-season).
It’s a ‘Canes-centric problem.
Hurriphin, do you think the owner would’ve asked Luck, Wilson or RG3 that?
And do you have a favorite for the Dolphins@12?
I’m hoping we trade down unless that CB from Alabama falls to us. He’s not white so I’m good with Miami picking him.
JSQ
Don’t forget, I contributed to that liver problem as well! LOL
Awwww… Is he still there in Missouri? Where you the “high school sweethearts.” I’m happy to hear your happy.
And how do I download this ap thingy?
Jello,
Charles was hurt.
He’s a pretty even-keeled dude tho’, so I think he just flipped his barstool over. I brought him another drink, and set him up with one of my old slore’s, so he’ll be alright.
I personally thought it was a blatant foul, but that was probably Reed’s last shot at a trophy, so I’ll take it.
Plus B-More is within arms reach, so good for them.
Refresh my memory – who’s McGoo
On to another topic:
And not to start any ish, but to niners fans complaining about the pi/holding non-call, let me introduce you to Navarro Bowman and Roddy White
“According to Jim Trotter SI.com, after Sunday’s win over the Falcons, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Navorro Bowman admitted he held onto Roddy White on the final play of the game that solidified the win for the 49ers. make of it what u will, but bowman told me he indeed held white on the 4th-down play, or as he said, “there was some pulling and tugging.” — Jim Trotter (@SI_JimTrotter) January 21, 2013 The 49ers and their fans are happy the officials didn’t make the call, and of course the Falcons and their fans would have loved for at least a holding to be made.”
Pot, meet kettle.
Refs make that call and niners fans and players likely not worrying about any bad Super Bowl calls as they would have been watching it from home.
I drink because of the Canes also…
The pass was too far out of bounds for the refs to make that call… Niners lost, move on.
Lol, bg!
[hides under TGI Fridays table to avoid drinking more bonecrushers]
I would have asked Luck if he could do something about that fkkng horse face he has. No Slambutsky, but damn that’s hard to look at, I wanna feed him carrots when I see him talking
Yup, he’s in MO, DZ8, but he will be here in 9 days.
Nothing to download, it should automatically detect that your are using a mobile device or you can scroll down and select the link that says something about using the mobile site.
Nah DZ…
I don’t.
Thanks to social perception, Wilson and RG3 would’ve gotten passes, due to being bi-racial and/or military kids of ethnicity.
I’m fully aware that’s it’s often human nature to pass judgment…even if its not meant to be malicious.
But we shouldn’t all the sudden play dumb when others suggest that it’s happening.
And if the Phins are sma–…I’m not even finishing that…
They’ll spend their first three picks on recievers and try and get with the times, and 2013 NFL Football.
You pass the ball well…Tou have a chance to win in the NFL.
PERIOD.
The Detriot Lions aren’t a good team.
The Bengals aren’t a good team.
But they are always dangerous and have been playoff teams recently because they can throw the pig.
Any word on Terrell Brooks?
The issue with “athleticism” is not a racial one but a cultural one. You see the earth is not round; what I mean by the it is not perfectly spherical. It actually bulges at the equator. This affects the body’s weight, acceleration and force dynamics because the gravitational influence of the earth includes distance as a major factor.
Therefore, a person at the north pole does not have the same weight, acceleration, etc of a person living at the equator. We must also consider the climatic reactions the body undergoes in various environments. From a purely physical perspective, not factoring in mental faculties, emotional traits and spiritual awareness, The ideal athlete is the one best physically suited for their environment. A cheetah wouldn’t prosper in the arctic and a polar bear would not fare well on the safari.
Football is unique in that it pairs these physical prototypes with positions and then combines all these elements on one field in various conditions. So it is possible to get a great lineman from Florida and great cornerback from New York, but there is a greater probability of getting a superior position player from the area they are best suited to thrive in.
Of course the power of the individual will and the disciplines of self mastery can and will supersede any physical limitation. Thus it is better to find the one with the right character rather than the one with merely physical gifts. Character is the true stone of the philosopher that turns dross into gold.
Hurri – Interesting post and I am not sure there is a simple answer. We live in a society which is hyper sensitive, but yet further perpetuates (and even celebrates) stereotypes that contradict this disgusting PC viewpoint. It’s a lot of intellectual dishonesty and its why conversations go to weird places. There are just so many mitigating factors at play that warp things.
That being said, on here, when its comes to Dent, I don’t think anyone is driven by race in saying negative things by him. And I personally don’t believe that race played a part in his failures as a HC either.
Good stuff shwarma and Umomentun… Is that why that one safety from Pittsburgh, Ryan Clark?, can’t play in MileHigh Denver? He has some kind of disease or something more common in African-Americans, that almost killed him when he went to that altitude.
I’m probably using the ap and don’t realize it. It is working fine.
bg – have a feeling you might be right about tomorrow, but hey you never know.
JSQ
Brooks is in Texas so I’m sure he meant Central Time.
I agree we shouldn’t play dumb if its happening. But I also will say BS if I believe someone is using the argument because they ran out of logical points. And that is the grey area where the debates start. See I don’t see anything wrong with an owner who is about to invest a lot of money trying to make sure that his ‘face of the franchise’ knows what is expected him. And my bringing up Griffin and Wilson was to shows that it isn’t color that prompted the question but rather character concerns. Regardless of skin color.
I didn’t see anything wrong with Ireland asking Dez if his mom was a prostitute AFTER Dez said his dad was a pimp and his mom worked for his dad.
And for the Dolphins trade down and go BPA with an emphasis on receivers late first, into the 2nd and 3rd rounds. IMO there is no receiver worthy of the 12spot. And the Packers never got their receivers in the 1st round anyways. TE from Stanford and one from Notre Dame would be good picks late first and great picks in the 2nd round. A lot of quality receivers that fall into the 2nd -3rd round range. Also we might get Wallace and/or Jennings in free agency.
We have something like 5 of the first 90 picks this year (1-1st, 2-2nd, 2-3rds)!!!!
I hope clappy von frankenberry dies in a bigger plague infested dumpster fire than Dent.
Hope that clears things up.
Best wishes.
GO CANEZ!!!!!
Agreed, bg. Someone was asking on my FB page and I thought the same. So any minute now…
Oh Muffins….
C1 just got me in trouble at work…
Anyone check the cover of espn college bball??
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/
Yes They Cane!
Lunardi has em at a 2 seed and some schmo i never heard of haha thinks they can win the whole thing
How about it
Go Canes beat BC!
I feel like I have severe ADD today.
Terrance, feel free to repost any of my posts that have attacked Al Golden please. Godspeed.
Cx3, there were several personal attacks on DK and others, here are a few:
…one big dummy who gets played exactly like he should have, with a strong pimp hand.
The BTW pipeline was summarized as “weak ass bytches and bench riding losers”
“…go hang with Luke and the rest of the trash down there.”
“the kid has been a disrespectful dildo.”
“…quit being a fat ass prima donna…you aint that good and we don’t need you that bad.”
He was also called, “second-rate”.
Like I said, it will be weird to see this kid (or even Bryant) commit to the Canes on Wednesday, considering the backlash I’ve read on this board…thats all I’m saying.
DZ, my comment about respecting the “urban” South Floridian athlete that is integral to the success of UM’s football program, may be redundant (not needed or useful, and repetitive) to you, but some comments I’ve read before and the examples I posted above, more than justify my comments and reaction. I felt that some people needed to hear that as a reminder of sorts.
Looks like Zakkee no likey Canez
Zakee is right.
This is what I was saying when WE have to win HERE. Miami is urban inner city. Our backyard and if tomorrow goes down like its looking like it will, heads will spin because we would have ROYALLY got our asses kicked here in the crib! We let everyone come in take our remote control, sat on our coach, and controlled our TV.
Sorry I have nothing better. But I have to be real, tomorrow is shaping up like EPIC FAIL.
Those are not all Canez1 quotes, the last two are from different bloggers.

I drink because of the Canes also…
^^^^^^^^
I drink Bcoz my frienemy (C1) is buyin.
The funny thing about the race thing and all is I get accused of having a agenda against “whitey” being the hcic at UM…lol
Like MY agenda can have some type of influence?? Lol
I’m sure some have the perception of me that I’m some Al Sharton or Jessie Jackson type…but half of my generation in my family is either malatto’s or have kids that are…my only niece and both nephew are mixed so…
Y’all should have seen the looks I got from folks of my kind when made a critical comment about the POTUS…lol
One thing about accusing someone of being racist or being combative on the net is you can’t always tell the tone and text of what someone is saying/writing….like the convo with bg/c3/terrance last night.
Most ppl have a problem/uncomfortable with race convo’s but not me…
I just call things like I see them and wifey tells me most of the time I’m right…..NOT
BG,
Of all the remaining targets, who do you predict will choose UM and who will leave us hanging at the 11th hour?
Coaches are meeting with Darryl Chestnut from Columbus. Kid had been BEGGING all year to get in this class. With Collins out now he may get a chance. We are OFFICIALLY scrambling.
I hear there will be some changes. Can’t go any further than that.
shwarma, try to keep your attention with the facts and validity of what I said and the ridiculousness of the examples I reposted. This is not emotional or about whether I like C1 or not. Your post sounds like a call to arms or fight on the schoolyard…WoooooorrrrrrlllldddStaaaaaaarrrr!!!!! lol!
Whether I like him or not is not the point I’m attempting to convey.
Zakkee, my point about it being redundant might of been off and I should have said obvious. Miami is an urban area with great athletes and any attempts to make Miami great in football must start with our local players. I think that is obvious.
We have consistently heard from local coaches that this staff is doing a great job in their relationships with the local schools. Obviously the DK/BTW incident was not a PR success for Miami mostly because only one side was allowed to speak on it. I don’t think it means the current staff is neglecting the urban athlete of which Miami must draw upon.
JMO
Hoping to see Estime (Cuse verbal) and Skai Moore join the crowd.
KB
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we strike out all together. Our best SHOTS are
Grace, Brooks, and Edwards. If we offer Chestnut, he’s WANTED to be at UM all along so I’d see him being like Jawand Blue and accepting on the spot if given the opportunity. Everyone else…11th hour and I don’t see it ending well for us. And even those 3 could pick else where. IF we land ANY big fish tomorrow, thank WHATEVER GODS MAY BE! Trust me on that one!
Delray.
Sorry No and No and they both 2 really wanted to be recruited by Miami.
Manny Navarro @Manny_Navarro
Coach Brian Mayper of Navarro JC said he hasn’t heard if DT Terrell Brooks made a decision. “It’s Miami or Baylor.”
^^^Remember he’s married so where he goes the wife goes. She’s a D-1 caliber volleyball player and UM had shown her interest. Not sure if she’ll get offered or know. He was previously committed to Baylor as well. Interesting, is he conflicted or are we holding it up…Interesting indeed.
Any kid who chooses to get his head pounded in by Bama, Georgia and LSU for as long as he stays healthy because of what he read on a message board is getting what he deserves.
IMO Collins has made a colossal mistake. Arkansas is going to ride him til his body is completely broken then move on to the next kid, period.
He could have played immediately here, showcased his talents and still had something left when he was ready to go to the next level.
The SEC is littered with Trent Richardsons and Percy Harvins, guys who have been battered by the SEC and are damaged goods by the time the get to the show.
Even further, ask Marcus Lattimore if he wishes he could have preserved his body more.
Big 10 ground and pound wont work in big boy football unless you have a stable of backs. That’s cause you need them.
BG,
Props for the invictus reference!!
KB.
You know how I do it Greek! LOL.
PB
Please don’t say stuff like that. It was his decision and it wasn’t UM. He’s happy. Lets no bash because we weren’t the choice. No matter WHAT his reasons there were HIS and he’s HAPPY. Lets move on.
Let me also say there is a CHANCE we do get some good guys tomorrow. But as of right now, nothing is certain and we are not trending in the right direction. Lets just all hope for the best!
How are Mrs. Nash and Baby ‘Cane Nash doing?
DK8, ok I see. I can’t reach the UM administration so almost 99% of my comments are directed at my demographic (other UM fans on message boards). I don’t know enough to say that the staff is neglecting the local talent base, so I wasn’t referring to them. I was referring to some fans and what I see as a developing culture of some fans blindly siding with the coaches and the dissing of kids when they decommit, transfer, leave school, enter the draft early, are suspended (and reasons/circumstances are kept in house), etc etc. And the dissing and angst for other fans who question/critique the job that UM’s paid officials do.
Good stuff Nash!
And good point pb… Recruits do need to start to look at how they’ll appear to the next level. Used up like Lattimore (even if he didn’t get hurt) or Kevin Smith is a great example because UCF relied heavily on him and he is spent now with the Lions.
That’s another reason why at RB I have no problem with being a one and done player. (I know you have to spend 3 years but I mean one good year and your eligible? Then go make some money and donate it back to The U so we can get like ‘Bama with pretty shiny things and rhinoceros penis dust or whatever they’re using nowadays)
Im gonna do a national signing day dance come tomorrow. Hey are they doing the thing like last year where you can get the text updates of recruits as they committ and sign their letters of intent?
I’m not bashing bg I’m giving an opinion.
And in my opinion the kid made a gigantic mistake devoid of any long term good for him.
I’m not name calling or insulting him, just making a personal observation.
Arkansas is a horrible team thats years away from competing again and has a coach with a ground attack mentality. This kid will get a ton of carries, something I’m sure he wants, but the reality is he likely could have ended up with 50% of the wear and tear on his body playing here and if talented enough end up being drafted in exactly the same place.
I agree Zakkee. Wish them well and move on. I’m only concerned with the ones who want to be here.
Also to show how things in recruiting happen, remember we EVALUATED Estime on film and in camp. He thought he had an offer and said he committed only to find out he didn’t have a REAL OFFER. His recruiter, GEORGE MCDONALD, where is Estime going now? Syracuse. Who is the OC there? GEORGE MCDONALD. What is Estime’s best attribute…SPEED! Could we not use SPEED here? If ANYTHING he’s a dynamic returner. I do understand we had bigger priorities and bigger fish that were needed and numbers are a problem. But McDonald so an opening and pounced. That tells you he liked him while he was at UM, just couldn’t get the go ahead to go get him.
PB
I hear you but that is an opinion. Who’s to say he made a mistake. If he ends up being for Arkansas what Montee Ball was to Wisky can you REALLY say he made a mistake? We’ll all know in a few years. I say let him be happy. He obviously didn’t want to be a Cane as much as he wanted to be a Hawg. Let him be.
Zakee has a fair argument. Please don’t be biased and hear him out. Its VERY valid.
And bg I know you follow this so much more closely than I do and so realize more acutely what we are missing out on, BUT….
The kids that want to be here are talented as well.
We have tons of examples of 1* G O A T and 5* busts. RECENT 5* busts.
The sky is not falling, it will be all right.
At least you guys aren’t friends with many Razorbacks.
JSK’s friend (I use the term loosely as most of their friendship is based upon JSK making football bets against this dumba$$) is not only a Romo apologist with a Tebow mancrush, he is a die hard Hogs fan (which is obvious if you take one look at his wife) who hates the ‘Canes. Dude was going off last night about AC. Okaaaaay, buddy. There, there. Maybe your team will only get beat by 3/4 of the SEC this year if you’re lucky.
Idk, shrug. To each their own. Some people like to live in places that smell like Purina. Some don’t.
Scroll scroll scroll
The difference is the Big 10 and the ACC are the minor leagues and the SEC, for now, is survival of the fittest.
Nothing I say is going to matter to this kid and the reality is there is a ton of local talent available next year.
But my opinion is the same, the upside is what compared to the down?
Talented kids get drafted regardless of where they play. What you are physically at that moment is literally the million dollar question. And on that terrible team, odds are he’s going to get punished, badly.
Regardless, this team is going to win a lot next year, that is the only certainty I know.
That will cure a lot of what ails this program.
DZ has hit on a very, very good point
The south florida HS coaches have consistently praised Miami, Golden and his staff for their efforts to rebuild the inroads lost sure past coaching stints. Yet, the theme here this week – Post DK – is that these coaches have stopped trusting this staff and suddenly kids, who have spent YEARS deciding on a school, are going to drop miami now at this point in the process.
False.
Two of the 3 sides in that situation got press. At the very least it was printed that the DK hadn’t told the BTW coaches that there WAS a Feb 1 (or 2) deadline.
There was a very good reason to take that scholarship. One that Miami is NOT ALLOWED to comment on.
Ice Harris is still not happy about how Randy was handled. Ice Harris may believe that Hurri has a point or two about this whole race thing and, like Nash, might could be accused of doing the racists thing in reverse here.
Bottom line is Miami is failing this year to land kids for reason and one reason only:
The NCAA is officially about to deliver their findings and sanctions. Period.
It doesn’t matter if we think they will be light or if the NCAA screwed up or anything else. All that matters is the perception miami is about to get their punishment and that’s very scary to a kid who doesn’t want to spend his next 3 years under sanctions.
Butch succeeded AFTER Miami knew what the punishment was. Right now, 1 day before signing day, it’s still unknown.
End of story.
Once miami gets its punishment this program can move forward. Tomorrow will suck because we still don’t know and kids don’t want to suffer if they don’t have to.
DZ8
Yes we do have some talented kids but I have a strong opinion about a few things but will save them for tomorrow after we sure how things end up shaking out.
Little more to that story Hollywood. Email me at bgaylor@gmail.com
I’d love to talk about some of it with you. You seem to be knowledgeable.
Hollywood.
Also YES the NCAA investigation is a VERY big part of this but that still doesn’t mean WE did all we could. We had some short comings as well. E-mail me when you get a chance.
Zakkee just was making a joke. No call to arms.
But on this whole urban South Florida athlete talk, I really think this is a conversation with no end or right answer, and you are going to get very diverse, disagreeing opinions.
Did anyone see a tweet earlier this morning about Alex Collins possibly wavering on his committment to Arkansas? It was from either caneisder, bfeldman, or someone else. Of course it was all speculation, but there was mention of rumors flying around that he has been getting pressure from family and friends to stay local. Take this at face value as I am sure it is nothing more than rumor and speculation. I find it highly doubtful, but that’s just me. I meant to post this earlier but forgot
KB, maybe he heard about Fayetville’s dog food smell and is waivering?
[JSQ pats self on back]
Stranger things have happened KB. I just don’t see this as one of them.
KB.
Its a rumor and I really hope its not true. Alex made HIS choice. Let him be. He’s let everyone know where HE wants to be and NO pressure or anything should be applied. Let the kid be happy. At this stage, I don’t want him. Not because he’s not good, but because his heart wouldn’t be in it and like he said, he didn’t want to have any regrets. Let him go where HE wants so that at least if it doesn’t work out, like it didn’t for Ivan McCartney, then all he can ever blame is himself.
LOL@JSQ!
Delray,
I don’t either, probably some type of bone thrown out there to appease any Canes fans in order to get them to back away from the ledge.

How are Mrs. Nash and Baby ‘Cane Nash doing?
^^^^^^
They are both doing great Ms. Clark.

Gonna hate to go back to work later this week…responsibilities suk
I think the fact that we gave up 45 points to Duke and haven’t been very good for awhile also hurts.
bg maybe, just maybe his family sees a better situation for him and don’t want to see him make what they see as a gigantic mistake.
That doesn’t make them bad people, it makes them parents and most times parents want what’s best for their kids not themselves.
Ask Jacoby Brissett and Matt Patchan about that. Both kids have recently commented they wish they had listed to their parents.
Those are just cases related to us, but there are countless more out there.
PB
That is valid but PARENTS don’t have to practice. PARENTS do have to play and PARENTS don’t have to like/love where they are. He’s the one that has to DO IT so let him make the first big decision of his life and live with it. I’m sure he knows how they felt already before he got on TV and said WPS. So let him do what HE wants and if its a poor decision then so be it. HE MADE IT and has to live with it.
Bg1906 the sanctions are 85% of it…
I wonder what’s going on with Carroll since we have a new TE coach? Has anyone heard what his new position is?
Moved to receivers I heard.

He is WR Coach for now.

Is there any word on Brooks? I’ve been swamped all day …
No word on Brooks yet.
Can’t wait to hear what ou have to say, bg. Much respect.
But don’t be shocked if I strongly disagree.

I dunno, I was reading an article on whitepower.com, about how white players make the best quarterbacks and all the reader comments seemed to agree with it.
Ooooh, better put a

After all, even whitepower.com readers know about Cam Newton and RGIII.
Duke was awesome.
Especially if you and MoneyCane smuggle in little airplane bottles of Malibu.
I had a GREAT time in Durham!
I will admit though, I got a lot of special privileges as the incumbent governor of North Carolina.

Hollywood – read my post. Kid was flat out asked to silent commit. He wouldn’t do it. Barrow knows when something’s up. He had EVERY opportunity to come on board. He chose to make us wait and the train left the station. His bad. He had his chance. End of story. Anybody says anything else and they’re just pushing an anti-Golden agenda.
You’re either with us or against us.

How did bg become the person who needs fair warning that a dissenting view was on the horizon lol! Believe me, none of us will be shocked if you don’t agree.

Zakkee – I’m not even sure what your point is, other than maybe you like to cut and paste my comments.
Don’t you have a sociology paper to write or something
Apparently Chestnut said he spoke to Richardson on FB who said that they’d be talking about him in a meeting. The coach at Columbus said there has been no UM contact. So that leaves kid feeling like WTF. smh
Just realized not one of you picked up on my Shalala hint.
Tunnel vision! Haha.

hey hey…no keeping secrets around here
Virtue is more in action than in words.
You are a part of that culture I mentioned above and your pasted post personifies it. Families do fight, but they rarely lay down ultimatums based on situations dealing with total strangers (Ice, Al, Denver) and without having all information (all sides of the story) at their disposal. Your post says that anyone who disagrees with you or says anything different is “pushing an anti-Golden agenda lol.” So there was no other arguments concerning that matter to weigh? Thats not true and you tried to bully any other viewpoint from being expressed by pulling Cane cards…”you’re either with us or against us.”
You don’t own Cane fandom
Now did I really need to explain that? I really feel bad that I can’t talk UM sports without ethering bs.
Since when did being in school become a reason/way to *attempt* to belittle someone? smh
The only recruit that I felt we really really needed was Bostwick.
BG I wish I could find that comment u made about guys from “up there” being kinda weird,
Putting purple tips on their dreds and stuff like that. AC was a ? For me ever since I saw that one.
Dreds aren’t meant for maintenance, you just let them go. Manicured dreds are extremely weird and troublesome. I missed that convo, but I totally agree.
Bostwick is 50/50 US vs UF. Either way would not be a surprise.

“Hey Canes fans I’m not here to debate all of your ails LOL – grab some hot chocolate snuggle up and go watch y’all 30 for 30 LOL”
Just some tweets.
Bennie, that’s exactly what I was talking about before with racial agendas. Throwing out race when it has nothing to do with our coaches. Not even sure why that’s even brought up. Nobody here says AG can do no wrong. He’s been coach for exactly two seasons and has just gone through the honeymoon period, which is over starting next season. What a joke.
Eh.
People would’ve been in Randy’s shit so fast for missing on Collins it’d make your head spin. And I’m the farthest thing from a Randy ranger you’re going to see. I’m assuming that’s what most are trying to make a race issue out of. Randy didn’t help his own case either when kids DID want to come here but he shunned them over size and whatnot.
Bennie,

This game continues to worry me, every year. Need to pull a UF and take them off the schedule…
I blame Randy Shannon for making this matchup relevant.
SportsCenter @SportsCenter
MAJOR UPSET ALERT: No. 2 Florida on the ropes in Fayetteville, trailing Arkansas, 43-26 at half.
Havent been on here for a couple days and I see its still the same.
People still worried about recruit A not coming here, and when they do decide to come they are the greatest thing since cable tv. When they dont, they are garbage and afraid of competition.
Emotions, dont you just love them? Not sure we can really say that women are that much more emotional than male sports fans.
And congrats on the baby girl Nash. Better start planning on taking plenty of OT when its given; shots and pampers aint cheap my man.
Hurri cant take Duke off schedule have to play them every year because Miami and Duke are ACC Coastal members.
Interesting from Thomas’ mom:
Thomas’ mother would love to see her son stay at home.
This was the first year Mariska Nyon had actually ever saw her son play football in person. She had always hated the idea of her son playing such a physical game, but he’s a physical specimen at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds. He dominates the game, people told her. So in December, she caved, and ventured to Orlando for the Class 4A state championship game. She loved it.
“I just love excitement,” she said last week after Thomas and his family made a visit to Coral Gables for the UM basketball team’s win over No. 1 Duke. “It was exciting. It was like the championship game and I like excitement. All of the students were cheering and I was getting goose bumps all over.”
Nyon, a native of the Republic of Suriname, is a sports addict now. “I’m looking at the Miami schedule for the next big game,” she said of the ‘Canes basketball slate.
She’d love to see her boy playing at home, but after Miami’s treatment of the Kirkland situation, did UM also mess up its chances with Thomas? Something tells me James Coley was quick to put a tourniquet on the bleeding.
“Coach Coley is so nice . . . such a nice man,” she said. “He had to do what is best for him and he’s from Miami, so he moved here and I respect that. When I heard he was coming back to Miami I invited him to come to my church since he will be here.”
Thomas’ mother said her son has been like a rock and she can’t read what he’s thinking. He won’t tell anyone his plans and wants it to be a surprise for everyone.
“I just pray that it will all be over soon,” she said.
Amen.
Brooks has announced that he’s going to Baylor to Matt Shodell at Canesport. HOPEFULLY that means Bostwick and/or Bryant said YES to us. Fingers crossed.
Go Canes!!

Bostwick to UF
D’ Onof / Jethro recruiting 0-2 so far?
Keith Bryant our last hope at big time DT. He’s been a troll the whole and no matter where he goes, not one of my favorites. But I think FSU
Matt Thomas and Denver Kirkland up at 9:15 and 9:20 respectively on ESPNU. Expecting both to FSU. Kirkland MAY surprise and pick UM, even after all the mess this weekend. If that happens then this weekend hurt you unnecessarily, but I still wouldn’t expect it. Arkansas is a sleeper for Kirkland as well as USC for Thomas but I expect package to FSU.
So we aren’t getting a single quality dt this year?
That’s PATHETIC.

GO CANEZ!!!!!
You should expect a package to FSU because that’s why DK had his scholly pulled in the first place.
This whole perception that somehow coach Golden was wrong for taking that ship is flat out ridiculous. It’s amazing to me that so many recruiting nerds that follow this crap daily can’t make the connection between how DK was handled before we hired our OC and how he has been handled since.
The best part is people continue to belabor the issue even after his step father was quoted as saying there WAS a Feb 1 deadline and that Ice Harris didn’t know that.
It’s enough already with the “Miami really mishandled the DK situation.” His family truly wants him in Miami but that kid wants to go to school with his boy. And that’s fine.
He probably felt extremely pressured and that’s probably why he kept all of it to himself. Thats all well and good. But that puts his coach and his family in a defensive situation when the teams perusing him get wind of things.
I am very disappointed, as usual, with the ignorance of this fan base. The coaching can’t comment on recruits. It’s a violation. It’s not fair to report this stuff as half stories and The Miami Herald is ridiculous for doing it.
Aside from a few of this kids wanting to go to their dream school the thing this staff is failing is overcoming the finality of the NCAA’s investigation. It is scaring families away and who can blame them?
Are all of Miami’s recruiters dynamic? Of course not. But no one can argue that the biggest problem this year is that investigation.
Golden pulled the #6 class in the nation last year because the hammer wasn’t a couple of weeks away from dropping.
Will this be the first UM recruiting class to have more out of state players than in-state?
And that’s not directed to anyone here. It’s just between twitter and FB I can’t get over how silly people are being. This line of myopic thinking is absurd.
The talent we have signed already and the players on this roster are more than enough to get us through this tough period.
Getting these last few kids is important but will not make or break this program. We have 60 plus underclassmen on this roster that are setting the foundation for our future.
Once this NCAA bullshit is over things will get a lot better for us.

Kirkland to FSU
Chuck Todd @chucktodd

Sorry check that, Arkansas. Randy Shannon!
Thomas to FSU doesn’t surprise me…wanted to be with his brother.
Arky for Kirkland
I thought Kirkland went to Arkansas
This day is rough
This is so far a pretty disappointing morning.. UF pulls in 5 dt’s and we have a juco project. FSU has no staff and they’re still pulling huge names.
No surprises except for Kirkland to Arkansas. All expected. Tried to warn you all.
Bennie neither of those programs have the NCAA hanging on like a bad case of herpes.
We are already a 9-10 win team that’s young with room to grow but it’s obvious this disaster of an investigation has finally come back to haunt us.
Need to get through this time before we can move forward.
Thankfully this will be behind us in the next few weeks and 2014 is loaded with local talent.
The NCAA cloud will soon be behind us and there will be brighter days. Trust in Al n believe in the process.
All top rated defensive recruits we lose I am going to blame it on them not wanting to play in Do-nof’s weak azz system
Please tell me we have a chance with Coley?
Any news on Grace and Coley?
Think we get those two kids and all of us need to stop being so upset about who we didn’t get and be excited about the ones we did.
Thomas and Collins were big losses but Coley, Grace, Burns, Carter, Muhammad and Olsen are huge gets for us.
Why not focus on that?
Chuck Todd @chucktodd
Randy Shannon getting a last laugh today? Ugh. Come on @GoldenAl, don’t let folks leave the “state of Miami”!!!
Matthew Thomas says he was turned off by the way UM treated Kirkland and “you can’t trust coaches who do that”
——————————————————-
IMO this is BS….he was going to FSU regardless.
I think we pulled the offers to Thomas, Bostwick, Bryant, etc… as well. Only reason they wouldn’t pick us.
All kidding aside lets save some schollys for what should be a better next year.
And wouldn’t that be typical for the NCAA to announce time served tomorrow, nothing to see here folks, move along. Punks.
I got my shades on…

Ok Matthew Thomas. Sign your letter, go to Tally, and EAD on the way up there.
Ask Malcolm Lewis if he can trust his coach.
Times 2 what GT said.
With the way things are trending….and these thoughts are my observations from afar…without the O&G glasses…and keeping it totally 100
1. One has to understand that loomin sanctions have something to do with what’s going down.
2. Goldie just lost half of his staff (the offensive side) that kept this past season from being a total collapse.
3. The side that remains (the defensive side) just finished 117th in the country and ZERO changes were made!! Why would any playmaking dlineman, especially one in so fla, that saw this defense up close, want to play for this group of dudes?? Even if their family members, coaches who were former canes, and some even grew up came fans!!!
Goldie and crew have damn near more players from Jersey than from dade/broward/wpb COMBINED!!
Goldie steals fsu’s best recruiter and STILL can seal the deal??
C’mon son
And in not breaking news….Dan Sileo is still a douche.
Coley to FSU per ESPN
Nash
#3 in my opinion is a BIG reason why we’ve been losing out on defensive recruits, even with the looming sanctions (despite what may happen). No one seems to have ANY faith in Oh-no and his swiss cheese/retard defense. Hell even Golden tried to steer him to the Temple job and this idiot removed himself from consideration (the arrogance of this fool). If you are a So. Fla big time defensive recruit, which style/system would you rather play in; a fast, hard-hitting, smash-mouth defense that was one of the top units in the country or a bs 2 gap, soft zone scheme where even the worst teams/qb’s look like all-americans…not to mention that the d-co routine blames the players for his schematic f**k ups. That’s almost a no brainer. If the team still fields a bad defense 3/4 games into the 2013 season there is going to be HUGE pressure for Golden to get rid of Do’nof or people will begin to turn on him.
Wow.
Mary, start passing out the shots, we need a pickmeup.
Did we just get Bond, James Bond?
KB
#3 is all the negative recruiting you have to do as a rival school…
Expecially if their dco sits down and explains what the Mac staff defensive philosophy is.
Hell just talk to Luther Robinson’s pops, he’ll tell u
Lol
You guys, please don’t be mad at the recruits for not picking us. Its their life. Don’t be mad at the quotes. I tried to tell you THAT would be the perception and THAT was the reason I said it was a stupid move. I’m going to get to writing this blog after Grace announces but understand YES the NCAA has some to do with this but A LOT OF IT is still on our shoulders and there ARE changes coming.

Funny how it was all good a couple weeks ago…
Delray you mean brooks to Baylor?
I just got a text saying we got 007. It’s offizal. His NLI was faxed in.
I’m not into the whole star thing (not after 2008); I really like this class, it’s small but solid, quality over quantity. The only thing missing is a dominant DT. Every one of these recruits will contribute, 2-4 projects with big upside. This group has been evaluated properly, if they develop properly with a team mentality it’s really promising.
Don’t forget where we recently came from. We have 20 returning starters and depth, just need experience.
GO CANES

LOL!!
BG,
Myself (like most rational fans) are not necessarily mad at the kids, moreso disappointed so far in how this signing day has turned out so far. I never blame nor ridicule a recruit for choosing a school they want to attend. I agree with you on how the DK situation gave the UM staff a negative PERCEPTION (that plays a MAJOR role in recruiting). This is just disheartening to see, especially after having a top 10 class last year. But as the saying goes, “it is always the darkest before dawn” so let’s get this day and hopefully the NCAA sanctions behind us and move forward. Keep Calm and press on!
We offered Skai Moore last night HILARIOUS! SCAMBLING!
It more to it KB. Our staff has a role in this. Its a learning lesson for them indeed. The GOOD is that they learned it in a year when numbers were tight anyways. Next year may be the deepest crop in S. Florida in quite a while. Things SHOULD be much better for that class, MUCH better!
