All of this scrambling going on, did the staff not have a Plan B in place in case of the worst possible scenario occurring (which seems to be what is happening).

  8. I believe the plan “B” is to induce a 10 ship reduction and tell the NCAA to eat it.

  9. Stacy Coley to UM! We got LUCKY!

  10. YES We Got COLEY!!!

  11. Welcome to the U!

One has to wonder, does AG’s reputation of being one of the best in terms of recruiting take a hit with this signing day fiasco?

  13. Yeah I did like Skai and Debo but u can’t get them all,
Not without that Ole Miss Money.

Ole Miss… C’mon really? Ole Miss?

  14. Has anybody seen my Norvasc?

  15. Thank Coach Bennett

    Ok coley

  17. Now if we can just get Kamara..

  18. We made some mistakes this cycle but getting Coley can’t be understated. That is big.

  19. Delray…I got some 5mg if you need!

  20. UMO

Can’t get ‘em if you don’t offer/recruit them!

  21. Finnaly some good news on Colley!!! Althought I think we nee to thank Duke for that pick!!

  22. Thanks BC. May hit you up later for some.

  23. KB………..your comments are on point!!

  24. Getting a kid always makes it better. LOL. We needed SOMETHING good to happen today!

  25. Wait so the kids that don’t come here is the staffs fault and f up and the kids that do come here are due to luck, voodoo, baby jesus and others.

    That makes perfect sense.

    I think I’m catching on now…

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  26. Mackenro Alexander to Auburn, Mackensie to Clemson.

  27. True.
We should just hold here at 15, for a lot of reasons.

Unless Dee Liner is feeling froggy and wants to jump on.
That and KB just for Shitz and grins.

  28. C1

C’mon bro, be honest with YOU! You know the truth. We got into the Coley sweepstakes VERY late and IF there was no Donnell Bennett at that HS, Coley would be a Nole. Search your feelings Luke You Know It To Be True!

  29. Lmao @ norvasc!!!

    It’s the big one lizabeth!!!

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  30. C1… is not that simple.

So obvious at this point Ice and his idiot buddy Randy were playing us the whole time. Those two kids have had their minds made up for ages. The ONLY thing I’m disappointed in is Golden giving those two nimrods ammo to go puclic with.

Top 3 coach? GIVE ME A BREAK!

Anyone who thinks I’m crazy ask yourself this. If Randy had done what Golden did, and you know Arkansas has done this to a kid somewhere this year, would the coach have gone on Joe Rose and ripped him??

    Hell no.

We got Coley and we are going to get Grace. Outside of the DT position we have addressed our areas of need…linebacker, pass rushing end, a real quarterback to groom for 2014, an immediate impact tight end, two stud defensive backs and replacement for Mike James.

To me Collins and Bostwick were the only big disappointments.

  33. Ok.

You guys win. Only because no matter what you will believe what you will. You believe our staff is PERFECT. I live eat and breath Canes football 25/8 and follow recruiting like its my mistress! I’m telling for FACT FSU lead all the way. The crying he was doing before he announced was because he told Dawsey at FSU no. This was influenced by Donnell Bennett just like Collins was influenced by Gatewood. It goes both ways! But believe what you will.

C1, Baby Jesus and Duke, that is.

  35. Lol I know nothing!!!

This staff has been grinding on Coley for a while now and did a great job getting him in.

I’m all positive today. Can’t focus on kids that don’t come. Total waste of time.

I learn from my mistakes young padawan.

While you’re looking, please ignore all the posts were I ripped DNo a new one.

  37. I’m done for the day! I’ll be back later. The LULZ and statements you guys make are really WACK to be honest. Everyone has a conspiracy theory. Its not that complicated, its actually quite simple. Perfect storm, NCAA, poor strategy and execution in recruiting in terms of S. Florida = Not many gets for us where we HAVE to win!

The class SHOULD shake out overall to be a good class. That isn’t the issue but we have some things to fix in terms of how we recruit our backyard and I think Al would be the first to tell you that. I won’t try to change your minds anymore nor will I write the piece I was going to write. I’ll just kumbaya because I don’t want to be accused of being a traitor. I’ll just say what you all want to hear. We are the best, we do it right all the time, and we make ZERO mistakes! EVERYONE is just out to get us! DUH, its RECRUITING! Dog Eat Dog World!

  38. We got Coley and we are going to get Grace. Outside of the DT position we have addressed our areas of need…linebacker, pass rushing end, a real quarterback to groom for 2014, an immediate impact tight end, two stud defensive backs and replacement for Mike James.

    Hollywood Cole says:

Lucky…that is a very interesting take.

So I guess if Bennett delivers Coley and that’s luck then I guess it’s simply unlucky that Ice Harris steered Kirkland to Arkansas and his best bud Randy Shannon after he asked to have his offer back which was rescinded on the day they gave him to commit by because he was planning on going somewhere else anyway?

    Got it!

  40. Man…trying to catch up was out showing houses. Some bad news, but seems to be expected. Some good news startign to happen. I can live with that.
These young men have a right to their own decisions for their lives. I wish them all good luck.(Unless they play us down the road.)

  41. Stacey Coley always struck me as a bit of an enigmatic kid.
Not at all surprised about his emotions today…If you ever watched the kid’s interviews, you can see he has some anxiety issues towards speaking in public. Might have battled stuttering issues to this point in life. One of those kids who is 100% looked in, while in his element (football) but not as much, otherwise. His persona reminds me of my late brother’s, a little bit.

Either way, I’m definitely glad to have him aboard, but he might be a kid we gotta monitor early on.

    And DZ…You see it baby!!

That Duke ass-tenderizing bore fruit, after all!!

  42. Also Grace isn’t a 100% sure bet though I’d lean him being ours. I’m out.

    pb(EOTHROH12) says:

bg no one is saying this staff is perfect or that things don’t need to be improved but if you don’t concede Ice Harris purposely tried to 1)Get his kids to lead us on and 2)Did so directly to help Randy and hurt his program, then you lose all credibilty in my eyes.

  44. Coley also seems like a kid that might get “Homesick”

Could be another big factor in staying close to homebase.

    I personally don’t give two sh!ts’ and a water-ice, tho’. Glad he’s here.

  45. Can’t leave. Sorry! I love you guys too much. But you frustrate me. Be REAL. YES its a great get. YES they did turn up the heat and that helped and had to be done to secure Coley but PLEASE do not under estimate his HC being a Cane. PLEASE DON’T. For the better part of the cycle we didn’t really recruit Coley until like November.

  46. Its been brought to my attention that LUCK may have been the bad word. I’ll change that to FORTUNATE. We are FORTUNATE to have a HC at Coley’s HS that is UM friendly to say the least.

  47. Did all these kids go to the same Burlington Coat Factory to get their oversized US Polo Association watches? No way they’re rolling with anything else, b/c that’d look suspicious .. right? Maybe a Structure watch?

One of the Ole Miss commits had on a watch that is bigger than the damn electronic can opener I just got from Target

  51. Doesn’t a head coach being a fan (or not) of a certain college, or even former player or alum, have some influence on kids anyway?

Lakeland High and Armwood Seffner have been Croc heavy for a while, they’ve sent a lot of kids there … while Randy was the HC and so was Coach Weiner at Plant High, he said he would steer his kids away from Miami

  52. Word now is Alex Collins will not sign today. Hmmmmmmmm….

    Means Parents aren’t happy IMO

  53. Plantation AD on Collins: “At this time there’s no indication of anything than the original plan. The family wants more time”

  54. Hollywood

By luck I mean that Bennett is in position to help us. I conceded that LUCK may have been a bad choice of words but the point is Bennett was an influence in our favor and without it, I don’t think we get Coley.

And Collins is going to be a Cane baby!!

  56. Maybe Collins likes the smell of Purina but his parents don’t.

I’m telling you, Fayetville smells like dog food. FACT.

Momma Jello is from there and I toured the school with one of my BFFs who ended up going there. I speak from experience.

Their dorm rooms look like jail cells, the campus is dreary, and the average chick there is 100 lbs overweight and has jacked up teeth.

  57. Also when I criticize US that doesn’t mean I put ALL of the fault on our staff. BUT it seems that you guys NEVER PUT ANY FAULT on the staff. YES there are some biases towards us around time and YES they are racially motivated because of bitterness towards things that have happened at Miami. BUT our staff did make some mistakes as well. So NO its not all our fault, but some of it is. All I ask is for us to just not blindly say the staff is ALWAYS RIGHT. They make mistakes TOO!

  58. All yall wack. Especially cuz i cant hop in the argument. I havent followed recruiting since ’10. lmao.

    Its all about this U!

I’m not an insider type, I just follow the news and have great relationships so I don’t purport to have cred. If its lost, then so be it. I stand on what I believe and if you don’t buy it that is fine. BUT I believe what I believe and not to sound like an arrogant ass but I do believe I got a slight bit more info on it than you do to help me form a more informed opinion. Not to say you are not entitled, but I do know a bit more about it. Do I know EVERYTHING, absolutely not, but I do know WE fumbled because WE needed to manage it better. If we manage it better, it doesn’t matter if ICE has an ax to grind or not. What purpose did what we did serve? You STILL didn’t get the kid and you now have even more negative to combat locally. It was not worth it! Again I disagree respectfully and say this with all due respect. PLEASE do not take it personally. We are just debating. This is why most times I talk offline about these types of things because NO MATTER WHAT you guys never see things for what they are and in this case there is nothing more. Its so visible and in plain sight that it is hidden!

I think Collins still sticks with the hogs. I hope I’m wrong.

  62. Cx3

I hope he’s ALLOWED to stick with them. That is obviously where he wants to be. If not he wouldn’t have said so. He’s influenced in another direction by his HC who is NOT UM friendly, but the parents obviously don’t like they way this is shaping up. We are not THERE so I’m not sure how the kid feels. If HE really feels like Arkansas is where he wants to be then they should let him go. If he was unfairly influenced then they shouldn’t but that’s IF he really wants to be at UM. HE has to be happy! Same thing with Coley. That one just worked in our favor but I feel the same way. Obviously though, his family was good with him staying home.

  63. Did Stacey Coley send in his LOI.?

  64. Until I hear ALL of the sides of an argument, I reserve judgement.

We will NEVER get all ends of these soap operas, so I will choose to roll with my judgement and this U rather than some jerkoff that decided to go elsewhere, that I could give two fugs about.

    Just the way I roll.

Hurri lmao ain’t that the truth ya big dummay!!

P.S. this staff is perfect!!! Sincerely yours, 7-5…

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  65. I’m just glad we got Ray Lewis in class, been talking about him for years.
Also love the name Artie for a recruit, don’t like the name Burns for a cornerback though…

Anyways we got some fresh blood coming in. It’s a good day, glass half full.

Alex Collins Has Yet to Sign Letter of Intent, Still Deciding on National Signing Day

Reports emanating from South Plantation High School (Plantation, Fla.) say one-time Miami verbal commit turned Arkansas verbal commit Alex Collins has yet to sign his national letter of intent and his still deciding his college fate.
Collins announced his commitment to Arkansas on Monday night after taking his final official visit to the Fayetteville campus over the weekend. Some recruiting services rank Collins the nation’s No. 1 overall running back.
Playing in the shadow of the Miami Hurricanes, Collins committed there over a year ago. Current Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema pursued Collins while at Wisconsin, and seemingly had the flip successfully made when Collins declared during FOX Sports South’s “The Next College Football Show.”
Similar situations of final hour cold feet have arisen in the past. Just last year, Josh Harvey-Clemons no-showed his scheduled announcement due to a family conflict over his chosen destination. Highly touted wide receiver and kick return specialist Davonte Neal was reportedly considering committing to Arizona when his announcement was delayed several hours; Neal instead signed with Notre Dame.

bg no one is saying this staff is perfect or that things don’t need to be improved but if you don’t concede Ice Harris purposely tried to 1)Get his kids to lead us on and 2)Did so directly to help Randy and hurt his program, then you lose all credibilty in my eyes.

so his credibility hinges on a concession to this innuendo or rumor that you cannot prove yourself? Its ok if this is your truth, but its totally reasonable that it is not everyone else’s. Also, you don’t say that the staff is perfect, but you also never say that they have made errors. This understandably would lead one to believe that you think they’re perfect.

When do you ever concede anything for discussion sake? Bg just made a concession regarding his word usage and then there’s nothing but love.

You guys “love” people for their ability to concede and compromise on discussions, but you never attempt to embody the same virtue yourselves. Bring something to the blog relationship please.

  69. Collins’ athletic director, Michael Collins (no relation), told CaneSport on Tuesday that “The family wants him to go to Miami. Alex picked Arkansas, which was his decision.

“I don’t know if mom will get in his ear … until that paper is signed anything can happen.”

The A.D. added that “There’s a lot, a lot going on (with him). Mom and the family want him to go to Miami. Him doing the Arkansas thing was all Alex.

    “It’s volatile.”

  70. avatar
    pb(EOTHROH12) says:

bg Maybe Collins’ coach was pressuring him away from UM. Maybe he’s just a kid who doesn’t want to hurt anyones feelings. Maybe his mom doesn’t want him putting himself through the meat grinder called the SEC. Maybe he said Arkansas and 20 minutes later said wtf was I thinking to himself.

It could be anything. It will work out today I’m sure.

But if he didn’t sign I like the Canes chances.

  75. JSQ made a great point and I’ve told you before, I’m STUBBORN. Sometimes to a FAULT. Ask the wife. I know it but I’m not perfect either! When I believe something or in something, I’m in it! I’m super loyal and convicted by my truths. So if I argue you down, just know, that’s just ME! Love me or leave me! hahahaha! We all in this TOGETHER! The U Family, NOTHING LIKE IT!

  76. Nash.

Coach has personal relationship with Coaches on Wisconsin now Arkansas staff.

  77. pb

As far as Collins, I just feel IF he really wants to be a Hawg, let him. He seems like an easily influenced kid and THIS has to be HIS decision. If the family is pressing that it becomes HIS decision and HE owns then no matter where he decides will be the right decision. Just needs to be HIS decision because HE has to live with it. Not coach, not family, but his.

  78. BG, I could be wrong but I think Collins is not 100% for Ark. Not saying he is 100% someone else, just think he wants to think it through a bit.

    Nothing wrong with that either.

With so many underclassmen already on roster this class was gonna be small regardless of sanctions. Coaches had to be super selective knowing there would be limits on who they could offer knowing they couldn’t sign 25 guys if they wanted to. By selective, I don’t mean just offering the best 15-18 players in the country but offering guys they knew they could get with just a few open spots for top tier “on the fence recruits”. Where coach Golden and coach Barrow a little too hard-line in regards to Kirkland? Possibly but only they know the whole story and they can’t say anything about that now. I’d still prefer hard-line to pandering to certain kids and doing stupid ish like signing half the varsity just to get a commit from one or two players. At least we know Al isn’t gonna play favorites with players once they sign. Maybe in a different year, with more scholarships available and no looming sanctions, Al could have been a bit more liberal with who he offered and what times he needed commitments by but that’s not the case this year.

  82. Good to see national media feels NCAA screwed up and that we should go on time served. I think the NCAA buckles under the pressure and public perception and that will be the settlement. Time served, Have a nice day and stay clean!

  83. Just like every other opinion you have, you are misinformed and speaking without knowledge. I’ve blogging with bg since the Sun-Sentinel days with Omar Kelly (about 8 years now). I’m 34 years old, so you’ve been blogging with bg for 17 years lol…ok…but that doesn’t prevent me from smelling your shyt. Pulling so called rank, instead of explaining your position.

  84. Hollywood

That is a fair assessment. As we discussed via email you truly have some good feet on the ground. We are in line for the most part. I think we could’ve did without the drama, you said it was needed. Honestly I wish we could’ve accomplished both, but what’s past is past and I think the NEW DIRECTION we’ll be going in with Cristobal and Coley is the correct one and we’ll end up alright in the end.

Watching that press conference Monday where he announced his intention to go to Arkansas you can tell he was conflicted between us and them. I mean he honestly looked like he was torn and even when he made the announcement it was evident he still wasnt 100%. That’s not to say he intended to play games with this decision, but it seems like he made a coin toss decision at the 11th hour. Remember on the last blog post I mentioned a couple tweets I saw where it was stated he was having second thoughts about his committment to Arky? Well, here is proof.

  88. Canez1, there is some rank catfish joints around those parts.

  89. I’ll say again, us getting Coley was redeeming. We needed that shot in the arm TERRIBLY bad!

  90. ESPNU reporting that Alex Collins’ mother has confiscated the paper work and Collins is trying to find his mom.”

  91. I only piss off a certain type of person and thats more their issue than mine, so I’m at peace with it.

There aren’t any sanctions coming and the kids know that (our coaching staff has told them that NCAA is reaching hard and f’d up). Some local kids just don’t want to play for us because we don’t win enough and they don’t believe in Al’s process to get back to winning. The kids are lifelong Canes fans and this is their dream school, no trumped up investigation would prevent them from attending their dream school alone. Their whole lives have been under sanctions when you consider the environment many of them come from. Adversity isn’t a deterrent, its embraced and dealt with until you’re blessed enough to come up out of it. Adversity is a cure. Wrath is an ailment.

Its the Cane’s self-imposed sanctions (institutional inadequacies and lack of accountability) thats been looming over Coral Gables. The kids can see the cloud and they aint feeling it.

I can’t wait to hear of the changes to be made.

JSQ – you and C1 talking about Arkansas got me to thinking

Earlier in my career when I was in the field, I almost accepted a promotion where WalMart would have been my account, among others, but it would have been the major one. They wanted me to move there, I guess near Bentonville, but then then relented, since I spent half my time in NY anyway.

Long story short, I got cold feet, lucked into a better job (same company). The next VP of sales forced the guy that eventually did take that account to live there.

So in an alternate universe, I’m posting this from Bumfcuk, Arkansas.

btw, does it really smell funny there? I remember when Jax used to stink something fierce.

  99. C1.

Not that. The class looks solid on paper. Just the strategy in S. Florida was flawed. They have some fences to mend and some strategy reworking to do but overall we’ll be ok. The necessary changes are being made so we’ll be fine.

  100. If you know these kids, the fake, witch hunt pursuit of sanction against UM could easily be used as a rallying cry and our greatest recruiting tool, “Us against the world”. JJ knew how to embrace the struggle and adversity to rise up out of it. Playing passionately for the local Miami Hurricanes needs to be a part of that rising up process. There’s a disconnect going on and I’m not blaming Al Golden, I’m blaming his bosses–they set the tone and culture.

  131. Class looks pretty good but we didn’t get any real DT commitments. That is a hard position to project and their were plenty to look at in-state, we rolled the dice and lost.

  132. But for the most part we did well. We didn’t get Thomas but he needs to get bigger and stronger. FSU will offer him time to do that, we needed him to play right away. We better pray 44 doesn’t continue in his downward spiral. We NEED him.

  134. Like Luke or not some of his argument has merit.

  135. Again I tell you there is some back lash down there. Listen to this…

All Skai Moore ever wanted was an offer from his dream school.

On Jan. 19, Moore Tweeted, “I really wanna know why Miami never offered me.”

On Tuesday night, the Hurricanes did. After hearing about it from his defensive coordinator on Wednesday morning, it was too late.

The SEC and USC’s strong defense lured Moore to Columbia
Moore, a 4-star linebacker from Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) University School, committed to South Carolina on Wednesday at his high school, sticking with the game plan he and coach Roger Harriott had in place from the start.

“I felt like it was a little bit too late,” Moore said. “Honestly, if they would’ve came in two or three weeks ago, this would’ve been a different story.”

Added Harriott, “It was too late. It was his dream school. You can report that.”

And where was all this talk from Luke and Ice and everyone last year when this staff pulled in the #6 class?

BTW, other than being a package deal with his Son, what did he so @ the U? Dan Sileo is dead to me!!! I wore a Cane UNI too, and could never bash my School! Sileo is a radio jock, that keeps it stirred up! It is all about his pocketbook, he has sold his soul to the devil! h will thrown out of Miami too, because he is not good at what he does…Glad I don’t live in Miami and have to listen to that trash!

    The others…meh.

    I have been prepared.

Collins does sting tho. Send mama a letter.

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

  140. I said SOME of what Luke said has merit. Not all of it. He wants us to recruit EVERY kid which we can’t but we don’t offer a lot of them at times. BUT that has varying reasons (grades, character, etc). BUT they also alienate some kids with you have to come to camp etc to get an offer. That doesn’t fly in Miami. This isn’t Temple. So we tell Amari Cooper or Rashsard Robinson or Mackensie Alexander, you have to come to camp to get an offer yet Alabama is telling Cooper we feel you are the #1 WR in the nation, that is a failure. In theory it sounds good but THAT isn’t a strong strategy. I bet that gets reworked. Yeah they signed a great class last year but they didn’t have to REALLY recruit a lot of them because they wanted to be at UM. Duke and Deon closed Tracy. Yes the staff has influence but the kids are the best recruiters. I do think this is where Mario and Coley will make the biggest difference. THEY are the biggest gets of all this because they will fix any of the S. Florida recruiting issues.

  141. Thanks to the people working from home today sending me pictures of their TVs so I can update the article ^^^^^ :-D

  142. Also Hollywood NCAA says until you are 21 Parent or Guardian has to sign. THAT is the hold up with Collins. But I also don’t feel he’ll flip either and should go with his heart if Arkansas is really where his heart is.

  143. Did Collins mom go off the grid? Bielema is already devising another Zero Dark Thirty plan to find her

Does Collins have a kid? She might kidnap the baby too and hold it hostage

  144. Going to write a longer post later, but y’all should listen to bg. While my change of heart hasn’t gone all the way to his side of it, him and Hollywood have pretty much hit the nail on the head.

  145. Let me put this out there without being specific. Kevin Beard is a former UM player and a coach at University School. He agrees that our strategy for recruiting our backyard is flawed. Does that mean we have poor recruiters NO. That just means they don’t understand recruiting in S. Florida. We can’t be the LAST team to get in on a kid in our backyard. That is INEXCUSABLE! We are HERE. When LSU and Bama and FSU and Florida are beating you to seeing what’s good in a kid before you do that’s a problem. We are so late to the party so many times and believe me it hurts us!

  146. Puke and Harris didn’t have or ask for a forum last year or this year. They don’t have intentions to and have not bashed UM in any way. “All this talk” is people like Sileo and other media/press people asking them their opinion about UM’s recruiting of S. Florida. Neither asked to speak on these situations. Harris was groggy as hell in that interview, he wasn’t prepared with ill intent or an agenda.

Some fans are looking from a scapegoat, and its sad that its the guys who have done the most for the local kids and to the benefit of UM as well. Everyone is to blame except the elites/bosses.

Even Puke said that it isn’t Al Golden, but it isn’t his job to figure out who/what it is–thats Al Golden’s job. All Puke knows is that it is. And despite that, he continues to make UM accessible to the local talent of S. Florida.

    pb(EOTHROH12) says:

I understand everyone’s point of view here. It’s a complex issue.

The only thing I will not deviate from is the following. If the same exact scenario occurred under Shannon’s watch there is NO WAY Ice and his mouth piece go on the air the very next morning, while emotions are at their highest, and blast him.

The reality is we recruited these kids as hard as any staff can. Whether we did it great, good or bad is irrelevant. We wanted them, we pursued them, we offered them.

But Luke, that MORON, says on the air today that we don’t want Dade kids and that Golden is basically a puppet for Shalala who’s telling him who to recruit.

All of these interviews have an undercurrent of anti UM.

Sure Luke sends his kids to camps, but the moment we don’t offer who HE wants, he comes out with the ridiculous nonsense he spews.

This doesnt happen in other parts of the country because the high school coaches dont want to burn bridges. Here, because their players are better than just about anywhere else, these coaches think they are much more than they are.

  149. avatar
    Hollywood Cole says:

I’m just saying that you can’t tell me there aren’t local kids and coaches in Alabama and Louisiana and Ohio and California, etc…that aren’t bitter about their favorites college’s choices.

Where are all of there tweets and retweets and local paper write ups bashing the staff?

Saying they didn’t REALLY have to recruit that hard because they all wanted to come here is CRAZY. That was a large and loaded class. There was clearly some HEAVY recruiting going on and LOTS of things had to go right for that to happen.

Maybe telling kids that they’ll get an offer only if they go to camp is a bad move, but that’s not why some kids this year chose to elsewhere.

It’s a panic driven response and a symptom of a much bigger problem here locally with the mentality of the media and local coaches. Having Luke running around as a Randy advocate is nauseating at best. Listening to Ice Harris whine about his kid loosing his scholarship is nauseating.

This type of backlash is only fed by the outlets that give it press.

Do things need to be tweaked? Sure. They have been. More to come, too. But when you can sign 35 kids you can offer 80.

You can’t do that when there are only 15 available. It’s tricky at best.

It’s extremely unfair and absolutely ridiculous to give a public voice to people that have an agenda again the program when the program can’t address the reasoning.

Then it’s compounded when the recruitnicks, who ONLY get info from 3rd party sources and MOSTLY from the recruits and their families, react to the rumors and gossip.

Only in Miami (and maybe USC) does it get this ugly and it’s ridiculous

  151. Luke is outspoken and has a mouthpiece. People don’t like him so they bash him. But I separate what he SAYS from WHO HE IS. SOME of what he says has merit because I know it to have merit. I agree there. THESE things most definitely hurt when they become public and honestly I EXPECT the staff to be SMARTER and that is why I put the onus on them. They are paid HANDSOMELY to make the smartest and best decisions. I just think they haven’t always done that. Does that make them losers, far from it, I really have grown to like Golden and I truly believe he’ll be successful here. He just has to learn that S. Florida is a different animal and that is why being the coach at UM is either feast or famine. When you understand the MACHINE and how it works and how to make it work for you then you are successful. I think he has the right parts in place to make sure that happens.

  158. Yes, Ice would come out and say what he did (even though RS would have never did that to a 4-star Harris player that had been pursued and offered). We you remove the fact that they are both black and are friends– then you can see that the action by UM was flawed. If they didn’t give the kid or coach a deadline other than NSD to begin with (not to mention that Kirkland never even committed here, but Collins did and took it back, but still was given until NSD..wow), so that isn’t right. All Harris said was that in the future, he’d like to know if certain recruits have until NSD or if they have another stated deadline to commit up front.

    How is that bashing UM?

How does his teammate get time to choose, but he doesn’t and has an offer that was thought to extended until NSD?

Implicating Shalala and attempting to exonerate Golden while calling him “a good guy”, is not anti-UM. Shalala aint UM. The undercurrent is anti-Shalala.

Why would you want to send that kind of undercurrent verbally, when your actions (see my earlier post or listen to his interview) represent and reflect over currents of attempts to set UM up to be successful? The logic doesn’t add up.

Luke didn’t come out with anything, he was asked and admitted that he keeps to himself because of the scapegoating that goes on. Like Hollywood said, where was this talk last year and the years before this one? This proves that there’s no ill-intent. UM has been missing out on and not offering S. Florida recruits who have been successful elsewhere for years now. He’s talking about it because he was asked to.

UM is Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties…not Shalala.

There seems to be a jealousy for the amount of influence and access the S. Floridian coaches have with the local talent pool. I wonder what motivates this.

  159. BG, how much you think our recruiting changes after that tidbit of info JB mentioned pertaining to some of the staffs recruiting methods having been identified?

  160. When you look at our class, like it or not you can’t argue this…

    OOS Recruits –
Other Parts of Florida Signees –
    S. Florida Signees –

This is where the issue is. We arguably play the BEST HS football here bar none. The state will have nearly 400 D-1 caliber prospects. A high number of those in Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach. There were other outstanding players out there and we dropped the ball. I think they have valid points, maybe how they express those points are not cool, but maybe they feel they’ve said these things before and it didn’t register. Now that its public, maybe it will. Central has a kid going to Oklahoma. You don’t think he could’ve been worthy? USchool has kids going to Vandy (SEC), LSU, and S. Carolina, where they not worthy??? That list can go on and on and some of those kids like a Skai Moore would’ve come sanctions or not. I know Thomas was the big fish but its not like Moore is chopped liver. I do understand we had to make VERY tough decision this year because of numbers. No denying that, BUT IF Thomas is giving you the cold shoulder as has been reported he was, even by you Hollywood saying he was NEVER coming here, then why not recruit a kid like Moore and if you REALLY can’t then you obviously have to do a better job explaining to the local HS coaches because they aren’t getting. Especially when you start losing kids (Paul, Finnie, etc) does not that open up more scholarships? Why not even get in then? These are valid questions. OR if you just really don’t believe in him as a player, communicate that and move on, not offer him and another LB from Louisiana in the 11th hour after you had basically ZERO communication with them until that point. That’s what I mean when I say we are scrambling.

  161. Bennie.

He’s spot on. There will be MAJOR modifications on the focus and attentiveness in S. Florida. I think we can see where our strengths were for this cycle, not in state! LOL

    Stupid me forgot my numbers.

OOS Recruits – 10 (including 2 from Cali and 3 from NJ)
Other Parts of Florida Signees – 1
    S. Florida Signees – 4

These numbers should be flipped at the University of Miami. That’s all I think the area coaches are saying. Give you backyard priority and I don’t think we did this cycle.

  162. I posted what Puke says about Golden (words) and what he does (action) for the local kids that (directly and indirectly) also benefits Golden and UM…so thats what justifies his bashing?

Hollwood and pb, *how and why* would all of these issues be handled differently by the media and HS coaches if Shannon was still our coach?

  163. Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington linebacker Matthew Thomas will be taking his talents far from South Beach and he will head to Tallahassee to play his college ball.
Matthew Thomas at Booker T. Washington

5-star linebacker Matthew Thomas will play early in Tallahassee.

“I have the best relationship with coach Fisher at Florida State. The rest of my family feels great about him too,” said Thomas. “Coach Jimbo is a good guy and I can really trust him. I am looking forward to playing for him.”

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker had narrowed down his selection to a final five: Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and USC. In the end, Thomas chose to attend Florida State to continue his football career.

“I trust the coaches there the most. They will keep it rolling even though they have a bunch of new coaches.”

“Miami did turn me off with the way they handled Denver. You have to be able to trust the coaches recruiting you and that whole thing made me think.”

“I didn’t really recruit Denver. I didn’t know he was going to pick Arkansas until he announced. I was pretty surprised.”

Furthermore they took it AFTER asking him to give a silent TWICE because at that moment the information the staff had said he was going to go elsewhere.

It also says in that article that Harris didn’t know that info. Great.

Just as it plays out in other areas, Harris should’ve given a much more politically correct response knowing the game like he does.

You’re a little off there buddy…I’m not going to get into the droves of local kids Randy didn’t feel would make it at Miami, but here’s one that would’ve helped a lot in that secondary last year from Southridge: Randy told him he wasn’t tall enough

You’re confusing “passing up” (not my words) with the pulling of a scholarship offer (from a local 4-star player of a friend) with a few days until NSD. Of course, RS passed up on talented players, I’m saying that he wouldn’t have done it in this manner or to a friend’s player. There are many ways and reasons to pass up on a recruit. I’m saying that RS probably wouldn’t have been in this situation (according to its specific ways and reasonings).

But its Puke and Ice’s fault lol!

What was Harris’ unprofessional response last week?

Hollywood, that 3rd paragraph doesn’t illustrate a deadline given by UM. Um told the family that scholarships are getting tight. How is that giving them a date? Thats a round about way of asking for or pressuring a (silent) commitment.

The 3rd paragraph says that the family told UM that DK *might* commit on Feb 1st or 2nd. They told or gave UM a date…not the other way around.

    ^^^^^^^^

As bad as that 117th ‘efensive ranking.

That’s true BG. There are flaws. But to attack and continually point out the negative when the negative, unfortunately, is a part of recruiting in every hotbed.

And PB that is a very good point and that’s why I think the herald is a piece of crap media outlet.

Of course Manny Navarro would NEVER be able to write a blog about DK if the exact thing happened with Randy.

And he knows that. That was poor form, bush league BS.

How about the heat he took when T. Chandler and J. Gore were refused??

Meh, this whole Kirkland, Ice, Luke, Golden story is small potatoes to the rest of the nation. I think every party mentioned was left with a little egg on their face and it’s in all their best interests to avoid these types of things in the future. Let’s pack it in for NSD 2013 and work a little harder for 2014. This class is very solid especially considering the size. There will be no NCAA clouds next year and a renewed interest in bringing south Florida’s best to the U.

  185. Bg, I think that quote was taken so far out of context it is unfreakingbelievable.

And as we’ve discussed, I don’t think she is gonna be a scapegoat for much longer. They are gonna have to come up with a new one.

But don’t get me started on TY Hilton and others not being a ‘Cane – that was pure and simple bad targeting and evaluations right there.

  186. And opposing counsel that I am settling a case with right now is a gamecock so you can bet I’ve been hearing about Moore ALLLLLL DAAAAAY.

He’s a STUD too! This is why locals are mad especially those at U School. We NEVER gave this kid any love, NONE but Spurrier and one of the top defenses in the SEC said you are good enough for us. That’s a problem IMO. So while we did OK there are some misses. Had we at least recruited him then that offer might’ve meant that much more to him but at the 11th hour, WHAT WAS THE POINT?

Watching the FIU/Louisville game in 2011 was damn near a 3 hour summary of Randy Shannon’s recruiting follies…

    ^^^^^^^*

Not quite the same venom towards the golden one tho Ms Clark

  189. Excuse me, Nash?

  190. Yeah, bg, I’m embarrassed about that whiff.

Good thing Coley and Cristobal are here. Other people skating by on their name that don’t know SFla recruiting can GTFO. It’s all about 2014 and beyond now. Gotta learn from these mistakes.

  191. Same thing at U School with Quincy Wilson who is a kid next year. He’s a legacy (Chad Wilson is his dad and runs GridIron Studs). Kid has offers NOW from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, LSU, etc and we haven’t really recruited him hard at all or offered and YES he is vocally frustrated by it as is his dad. Is that not a problem? Lets see how the focus changes now with Coley and Cristobal. I bet you he’ll have a legit offer in pretty short order.

  192. He better, bg. That whole situation is bull sh!t. I’d like to slap the pretty right off that guy’s [NOT GOLDEN] face for this kind of ish.

  193. And the thing is, eventually it goes back to Golden because he is the HC.

He is SUPPOSED to be able to delegate ish but ultimately, it’s HIS name out there.

Similarly, I was SUPPOSED to be able to delegate some work to these two croc junior associates but instead, because they have Floriduh degrees which render them capable of doing nothing but Tebowing and making jorts, I have to play pooper scooper and clean up their f@cking messes because it’s MY name on things, not theirs.

Of course, I don’t think they will be employed come March over this ish … just like someone else.

  194. JSQ

BINGO. The problem isn’t Golden. Even Luke said that. They like him. Its others on staff if they remain on staff.

  195. For those that never watched Skai Moore

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udhTQObCHHA

  196. I apologize in advance for the length of this post.

I am a huge Al Golden fan. I love his approach to this team, his job and pretty much anything else he puts his name on (no slambuttsky!). I give him the benefit of the doubt, because quite frankly he has EARNED it IMO. I have staunchly defended him (or his staff/decisions) many times.

That being said, I think some mistakes have been made.

I do not view this recruiting class and the events of the last week as a success or total failure by Golden and his staff. This post isn’t about rehashing that. They executed their plan. Right or wrong. We got some stud players, missed on others. Shit happens.

Instead, it’s about the necessary adjustment to Golden’s master plan and lesson to be learned from this in the future.

While we are quick to take sides on any issue and assign blame as we see fit, the bottom line is there are certain things that affect these arguments and are just point blank out of our control. For instance, here are a couple facts that WILL NOT change:

    1) Our market is one of worst (if not the worst) sports market in the country. We are a bunch of front-runners. We treat teams as if they exist for us, rather than the reverse situation that is present in many other places around the U.S. This lack of loyalty and culture trickles down through fans, local players, coaches, etc. It also penetrates a media base, and when combined with the dying nature of the industry, the negative crap we see shouldn’t be a surprise. They need to sell papers and generate clicks. Is it right? No. But it won’t change.

    2) We live in a generation of ME athletes and coaches. Egos are permanently inflated. While we might not like it, that horse has left the stable. Unless you eliminate all the media coverage, money pumped into CFB and evenblogs like this one that talk about these teams endlessly, that won’t change anytime soon.

    3) South Florida high school football is a wild west, and that is reflected both on- and off-the-field. It is a sub-culture in which people are always looking for a way to stand out or get out. A culture that says I demand respect, whether or not it is earned. It should be no surprise that we produce players who are undisciplined and immature; rogue, big-mouth coaches; duffle bag boys; and academic casualties. Couple this with the home situation for many of these kids and you certainly have a recipe for trouble.

So what does this all mean and why do I bring it up? Golden’s plan and the events of the last week didn’t take this all into account nearly enough.

Being a leader is about having a vision and executing that vision. But being a great leader means also being able to adapt on the fly. Outsmarting the opposition. And in this case Golden has the time and ability to do both. I believe Golden will do both.

    What can be done?

I don’t have all the answers but for starters here are a couple thoughts:

    1) Offers – Like BG said, while the camp system is good for some players, it shouldn’t be the policy across the board when other schools are coming in WAY ahead of us. We need to protect our turf in this way.

    2) Media relations – Media want access. Golden is great with media. However, most media also feel that they get him only in controlled situations. Someone has to be pulling the strings behind the scenes to make sure they are coming to the university first with any story to get both sides (even if off the record)

    3) Coach communication – While we can argue until we are blue in the face about the Ice situation, what came out in the wash is that there was a miscommunication between UM staff, player and Ice. Certain conversations should always be had with all parties present. This means offers, status of commitments, pushing for commitments, etc. You want to control the situation. Bring everyone in on it. That way when you have a snake (and I personally don’t think ICE is at fault for anything than being over emotional and loyal to a friend/player) you can cut off its head.

Again, just my two (albeit long) cents, but think that this week and Spring will be more about moving forward then rehashing the past.

  197. When you watch Moore who is from the crib then compare to say Figueroa who IS a good athlete as Luke said, you SHOULD defer to home. No way that kid shouldn’t have had an offer.

  198. Shwarma has wisdom. The media and CAN TELL you for FACT does not like UM the institution right now and how they’ve been marginalized by the school. Right or wrong, they feel they have no access.

  199. Wow, I not only predicted 2 friends’ pregnancies, but the genders of their children.

I think I need my business cards revised to include “Baby Psychic” after “Esq.”

  224. F*ck the crybaby media down there in south florida, esp. one in particular who really isn’t part of the true “media”, he just happens to do some podcasts on a blog and is my boy Canez1 favorite

They really have no place in demanding and complaining about if Miami allows them to do this or that – who the hell are they again? Oh, they write for the fishwrap, so ya, give them all-access at all times just so they can pass along every single tidbit (sometimes with not even knowing what they’re saying)

And please remember, this is coming from someone who works in the “media” for the 13th rated market in the nation, CBS affiliate

They want their job to be easier, they want 24 hour access to everything and cry about only a few hours of being able to question coaches or see practice. Boo the f*ck hoo

They think Miami is bad? Try dealing with Coach Schiano up here in Tampa. That dude runs a tight ship. You have a certain amount of minutes/seconds in order to see Bucs practice and ask coaches questions – when that buzzer goes off, your ass is out the door. Pronto. Or you won’t be coming back. Those are the rules

I have no problem whatsoever with how Schiano or Miami handles the media. I’d love to see the reporters from the Herald or Sentinel live in Tuscaloosa and have to work with Saban

If anything, the media should be on their knees and chugging Golden & Freet, Lewinsky style. You see just how different their social media alone has become? Completely night and day from when Shannon was there. Freet is great at his job

Take what you get. Stop bitching and moaning. Remember, you’re just a newspaper writer and sometimes, not that good of one in the first place. Report the news, don’t give opinion, we don’t want to hear it

  228. CanesCanesCanes – exactly

Can’t tell you how many times I sat in post-game pressers at Sun Life with a lot of those hacks and certain ones would complain about something as stupid as which players they were bringing in to speak

What, instead of having 7 of the main players come in, you want 20? I remember even seeing Freet’s face a couple of times when he overheard a certain person whining loudly about what players they were bringing in – let’s just say it was probably the same look he’d give someone shooting his dog right in front of his face

Remember this video that a couple people posted on here?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FKmUTi1-jE

Remember all the great Canes All Access videos that have been posted by 3 Penny Films?

Remember all the camps that Golden has had for players/coaches of all different levels in order to help mend and repair the fences that were broken by the previous regime?

Lots and lots of things that help Miami when it comes to recruiting, not to mention the current and former players that help the cause. What was it, 7 Canes in the Super Bowl? How many in the Pro Bowl?

Lots of things that help the cause at Miami to recruit – now including Cristobal, Coley and of course Golden with his flashy ass smile and charm

In my opinion, those things help Miami a hell of a lot more than some writers for the fishwraps down there

The NCAA f*ckery has hurt Miami more than any local writer down there ever could

  229. bruary 6, 2013 at 4:53 PM

Ding Ding Ding!! This has been an issue I have never understood why its happening and its been happening from way back. I thought it would be solved when Golden came in with his focus on corralling the state of Miami but it hasn’t. Golden is the HC and its his responsibility. The NCAA investigation excuse for not getting better players doesn’t forbid him from offering. To be honest the NCAA investigation excuse and its effect on recruiting is becoming pretty lame.

    Who is chad wilson?

  236. Via Peter Ariz of CIS. Corroborates what I told you about Coley.

Little note on Coley: His recruitment comes down to one thing, Donnell Bennett. It’s not only the fact that Bennett wanted him at Miami, but it’s the way everything went down. Going back to his junior year when Stacy was becoming a big name, Miami was not showing much interest. The ‘Canes did not offer until this November and Bennett is a big part of why the ‘Canes offered. Miami was concerned with grades and other off-field issues, but Bennett worked with Coley and helped him mature throughout the process, which Bennett has told me multiple times when I’ve spoken to him. If not for Bennett pushing Coley, we would have seen him wearing the Garnett & Gold for the next 3-4 years.

    Canes Outsider says:

As for not worrying about which recruits we got, Jimbo Fischer, of all people, made a great point on ESPN this morning. “You can’t win the Kentucky Derby riding on a donkey.”

Think about the 2001 Canes for example. Many times, they were out of position, late on a throw, or missed a block. But the TALENT overcame those mistakes. Dorsey throws four INTs versus BC, but our talent overcame that in other areas. Jacory Harris throws four INTs, we have no shot at a win, because our TALENT could not overcome the mistakes of others.

Let me ask you guys this: What ranking would the 2001 defense have, running Ohno’s system. 117th? 116th? or probably 3rd or 4th, because they would have been able to make the other team screw up sooner or later in his bend but not break passive system.

No, I do not love Collins more than my own kids, but him picking Arkansas hurts me just like it would if my kids did something that stupid.

    Canes Outsider says:

Oh, and I don’t even get a FIRST of the day, because bg wrapped around midnight with two posts. I think bg cares about recruiting, amiright?

  241. Popped in to read everyone’s thoughts on your class and I see the conversation has branched out to a broader view of the recruiting philosophy. I have a very good friend that I’ve known for over 30 years (I’m 37)who works in your football offices. We spoke for a couple of hours on Sunday and here is some of what was said to me. These aren’t my opinions: the FSU fan, these are the thoughts of someone who works in the building.

    1. The staff, relatively speaking, got lazy this year. Last year there was much more uncertainty regarding the NCAA and 2 fewer self imposed bowl bans. With their backs against the wall, the staff was relentless in calling recruits and answering every new rumor or piece of negative recruiting. They checked in after virtually every visit a kid took elsewhere. The staff really went out of their way to develop better relationships with the high school coaches in the area. The result was signing a class of over 30 with more than 20 coming from Florida and several kids coming from S.Fla

This recruiting cycle was much more unorganized the coaching staff depended far too much on high school coaches and other “friends of the program” to recruit the kids to Miami. They didn’t “smother” the kids like they had done the year before.

Knowing this would be a much smaller class, they should’ve identified the top local guys and smothered them with attention. That would’ve helped continue the momentum in Fla and S.Fla from last year. Instead, they used that time and resources to pursue out of state kids.

Saw the conversation shifted this direction so I decided to share.

  242. Thanks for sharing Herc. Might possibly explain some of the changes that have happenned and why the changes went in the direction that they did. Really believe Coloey and mario had been brought in too late to make an impact for this class.

I was listening to the radio last night and the Rivals radio guy said in the Bosco Prep-St Thomas game Muhammad was BY FAR the best player on the field. Head and shoulders over the Bosa kid who signed with OSU.

We got the #1 player in Broward, the #1 linebacker in Broward, the JUCO #1 TE in the nation, the #1 fullback in the nation, the two best DBs in Dade and a consensus top 5 QB nationally just to name a few. We missed on the nations #1 running back for god knows what reason.

All of this with perhaps the worst negative recruiting any school has ever had to endure, every prominent program pounding the pavement here and two morons with an agenda sabotaging us wherever possible, even clamoring for Randy freaking Shannon to come back!!

The days of getting every Dade kid are over. Overall I think this staff isn’t perfect but once again did a hell of a job, especially under these circumstances.

I get that some things are rumors that baloon out of control, that folks with agendas will twist the data to fit their theory, but the ONLY data we got was that the locks stayed, but all the wavering players went elsewhere. My boss, on the other hand, (I have a great impression of him – which he has seen – called “ANGRY BEAR”) doesn’t mince words. Dude can make a grown man cry by uttering one sentence. I basically live my life with the constant goal of avoiding ever having that man yell at me.

How can anyone claim the staff worked less this year? What is their source of information? How would they know? Show me one quote from a HS coach saying that. Have you not been reading about the circumstances we’ve been operating under? Self-imposed limitations on recruits AND visitations among other things.

Look, this coach and his staff are NOT beyond reproach, and I fully expect them to produce.

But lacking any substantive evidence, I refuse to be swayed by the agenda driven nonsense being spewed by a small handful of shoot-from-the-hip blowhards who try to gain attention with outrageous claims.

People see the tip of the iceberg, and then describe the other 90% under the water without ever having seen it. Source me your info or GTFOH. Money talks, bullshit walks, as they say.

I’m not saying there aren’t things that couldn’t have been improved this time; learn lessons and move on. But isn’t that how every worthwhile endeavor is. Nobody executes every project with absolute perfection.

But the nonsense being spewed by a couple of clowns and som others in the twttterverse is pure agenda driven hate

  260. Don’t know what “Powerball” means in that context, but I get at least 2 dozen e-mails forwarded to me daily that instruct me to take care of whatever is forwarded. Usually the forwarded message ask the forwarder to do something and it gets passed along to me. Then I get told that this happens as a “reward” because they can trust if something gets forwarded to me, it will get done.

If I wasn’t so exhausted, I would pat myself on the back…

I believe time will be the ultimate judge of his actions regarding this recruiting cycle. IMHO I believe he has laid a great foundation for the U to return to the elite status of college football. These wannabe coaches who exploit the athletes in their program have been served notice that Goldie ain’t playing their game. This is what was needed and I for one am glad Coach stood his ground.

ding ding ding – we have a winner

  291. Heard the Golden interview live this morning and it was GREAT. But he did admit fault guys.

That is why I wrote that diatribe of a post. I was totally on the side of UM being right with all this and F these kids, but after hearing/reading some things, and really taking a step back, I believe some tweaks need to be made, and I think that is what Golden acknowledged this morning through his comments. Nothing major, just a slight adjustment.

Also, realized I misportrayed what I was trying to say yesterday i.e. media per Six and CX3′s convo. These media are little bytches and publically don’t deserve anything more like these guys said. But what I think needs to happen is more behind the scenes work with them. I am making an assumption that it isn’t going on, but sinc Golden is a media superstar and we are still getting this crap, that is just my guess

  292. pb

And also said he has to do a better a job with the relationship and all of the relationships. This is NOT a one sided deal. There is fault on both sides and communications issues on both sides. However, Golden does make a valid point and I think the “whispers” have to stop and the staff be addressed. I give Al credit, like he told Joe, he’s not angry, just wants to address the issues straight forward. I’m also glad Joe mentioned Randy and how he also went through these things. Randy’s interview this AM is insightful as well. Golden said he now respects EVERYONE that sits in that chair. Its DIFFERENT being the guy in Miami than anywhere else. Its not easy.

All Skai Moore ever wanted was an offer from his dream school.
On Jan. 19, Moore Tweeted, “I really wanna know why Miami never offered me.” On Tuesday night, the Hurricanes did. After hearing about it from his defensive coordinator on Wednesday morning, it was too late.

Have you not been reading about the circumstances we’ve been operating under? Self-imposed limitations on recruits AND visitations among other things.
    —-
I have not heard of any limitiations on our recruiting, just that we were going to stay under 17 total players. Can you show me where they said that? I mean, I have heard of self-imposing reduced numbers, but not self-imposing reduced effort.

I am not an expert, not looking for a fight, just saying the perception is not as good as the perception after last year’s haul and late steals.

Also, I agree that we should just retract our offer to Collins. I have heard from S.Plant people that his family is a HUGE negative in his life and he really wants to get away from them. I almost want to say the whole UM commitment was just a way to keep his mom at bay for the past 6 months. Also, the HC there is totally in bed with the staff from Wisconsin/Arkansas.

S5 – I think I got what you were saying. Now I know. Six is more personally familiar with this, but the scrubs doing the complaining are pathetically unprofessional.

Listen, there’s nothing we do in life that can’t stand improvement and tweaking. No one walks on water. AG’s not dumb. Most successful people can self-critique and calibrate accordingly – they just don’t publicly divulge the level of detail. It’s not like this class sucks either. If we land Bostwick and Thomas it’s an A class.

  296. avatar
    pb(EOTHROH12) says:

CO why would you host 50 kids if you only have 16-17 spots?

They did that last year and signed 31. They had to be selective and recruit less kids it’s that simple.

We missed on three and got three, it comes down to that.

They recruited the kids they wanted as hard as anyone could. If they weren’t talking to as may kids it’s because they had to be way more conservative this year.

  297. avatar
    CanesCanesCanes says:

CO – Golden himself said reduced visits. I’ll let you google and find it.

Skai Moore was a plan C guy. Do you woo the crap out off him then get the guy you originally wanted and then kick him to the curb? Then you get criticized for that. Anyway, you’re giving me a grand total of one example that the staff got “lazy” this year. That’s weak.

There’s no way to prove any of this, pro or con, anyway. You can choose to believe what you want, I’m just bringing another perspective and pointing why assuming out of hand that the staff slacked off is flawed.

My perception is different than yours and let’s just leave it at that.

Anyone agrees and can say that no one is perfect or that we all make mistakes or we all can get better, but the issue is that when another poster notices and/or addresses that needed tweaking, there always an excuse, finger-pointing, scapegoating, and Cane card ultimatums lol.

If Golden isn’t perfect, then identify a few/couple of his mistakes since becoming HC?

We talk about HC in bed with schools, but we all want golden in bed with every high school HC in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Isn’t that what we mean when we say, “put a fence around or secure the State of Miami.” Isn’t getting into bed, the action that leads to what we desire in those sayings?
