Are we Back?

top

Well, it’s time.  Time to get hyped up for that one game when the schedule is released way back at the beginning of the year you search feverishly to see when the date will be.  Immediately you block off your calendar for that weekend.  No weddings, no work, no other parties, nothing. Nothing will interrupt your weekend plans for the biggest game of the season. Yes, It’s FSU week.

Before we get into what we normally get into, let’s take a look at both teams to date.  Miami has had a lackluster schedule to date.  It has beaten teams that it should have beaten but it has beaten them soundly to be at 4-0.  FSU on the other hand has had some hiccups.  At 3-2 it was beaten or should we say destroyed by a very good Louisville team and shocked, at home by North Carolina.  Some may think FSU does not have as much to play for anymore. Let’s make this clear.  FSU looks as forward to this game every year as we do.

OK, now let’s look at who FSU will need to step up in order to walk away with a win.

Dalvin Cook –  To say Dalvin is a special kind of player would be an understatement.  He is the single reason FSU has won this game the last two seasons and will be the single reason they would win come Saturday (or Monday night).  A local out of Miami Central he is the kind of special player that can carry a team on his back and dominate a game.  If Miami can stop Dalvin they will win the game.  I could probably conclude the article right now and start loading up my SUV and call it a day.Image result for dalvin cook

There are a few other notes to this game.  Miami must not turn the ball over.  Last time in our house we let a golden (sorry) opportunity get away with a few untimely turnovers.  FSU’s defense has been suspect lately, if we get up by a few scores, do not take the foot of the gas!

Also, Miami will pay tribute to the 1991 National Championship squad during halftime.

See you all on Saturday!

Go Canes!

Game comes on at 430am here. Gonna try my best to get up and catch it. Miami hasn’t been challenged yet so this game will test their limits on what they can do as a team and how they respond to adversity. I hope FSU gets embarrassed like Louisville did to them. I want a 48-17 type score. Been listening to “U Already Know” by TD to get pumped and wearing my U shirt on base. LET’S GET IT!

What a horrible way to lose the game? Not a great performance all around, but mane that really sucked. The curse of AG lives on.

SN: Am I the only one who feels that the team needs a true OC? I never did like the Thomas Brown as co-oc while Richt called plays. Brown is still too inexperienced, he was just coaching running backs last year at UGA IIRC. If Richt wants to call plays then fine, but at least hire a true, experienced OC who will come up with an effective game plan. All I’ve been hearing/seeing for the last week or so is how Richt and co was being conservative offensively as to now show their cards and waiting until the FSU game to “open up the playbook.” Well that playbook needs to be thrown in the trash. IMO CMR needs to hire a true, proven OC ASAP.

No problem with the play calling. They are just still better than us up front. We can match them at the skill positions. Brad wasn’t the same after he got dinged. But no matter, we played a TRUE Miami vs FSU game last night and just came up short. There is a storm brewing guys and gals. Don’t jump ship. We got the right ones, just need that signature win to get us over the hump and back on track. Sometimes things like this can make you better. NO ONE else on our schedule should we lose too if we are healthy and motivated.

This offense will always struggle with Kakaa behind the wheel.

You cannot have a dude who is completely immobile, this day and age.

What you will get is an offense that will always have trouble converting 3rd downs and an OL that is at a HUGE disadvantage.

There has to be a threat of a qb run or scramble in order for this O to be successful. Defenses get after BK with no rush discipline needed whatsoever.

Makes an avg OL look miserable. Step up in the pocket and pick up a few yds, changes the game and keeps you ahead of the sticks. Fold up and clomp around in the pocket and bad shyt happens.

Play of the game was the targeting call. They were dead in the water until that play.

Crowd went wild and showered water bottles onto the field. Lol some were coming from the upper deck!! They were bombing the FSU sideline with them too lol.

    Fuk em!

Our OL is softer than newborn baby shit. Kaaya playing like a 5th rounder because of it, and Richt isn’t helping with this RPO shit he’s calling with a QB that isn’t a threat. Ironically the O is more loaded with Golden kids than the new batch on D..

Also, Corn earned some damn money so far this year. Ran Dalvin’s ass down from behind. Played lights out for the most part.

Dammnit…..we still have everything left to play before that we had before this loss…but 7 straight has me so damn salty.

Only problem I had with the play calling was Id like to have tried to establish the run earlier in the game. I think we came out and threw 8-9 straight passes…im not really a football strategy expert so maybe the more educated folks in that respect can shed some light on that strategy that im not understanding.

Sam Bruce…dont let the door hit your ass. Whatever the reason for his dismissal good riddance. Wish he woulda gotten a chance to do his thing on the field but it sounds like he is missing something upstairs and quite frankly we have had too many of those guys on the field lately messing things up. I REALLY do not remember Richt using so much RPO at Georgia during his play calling days and I damn sure don’t remember it being a staple of FSU football in the 90’s.

Our OL is responsible for a ton of the failures, I can understand him wanting Brad to make a quick read and get the ball out fast, but on that back breaking INT he literally had a year in the pocket, and we see how that ended. I’ve tried to argue with myself over it, it’s not like he won’t be the starter, but 15 isn’t that dude IMO.

Just head scratching shit though. 2 and 19 and we run inside from the shotgun? WORD? Crucial XP on the line, FSU stacks 7 on the left side of our line while we have three timeouts and what? You let Badge try to kick it anyway?

I didn’t understand that run call on 2nd and 19 either especially since we’d been so pass happy all game. I know Walton had just broken one for 40+ but still.

I’ll give deference to CMR though. He has been doing this at a high level for a hell of a long time. He is also getting back in the mode of calling plays and is working with qb’s who are likely still learning the new offense. He looks like he has the team on the right track, and we are a lot closer to championship level football than we were a year ago at this time. He was bound to lose a game eventually just sucks it had to be the bytches from Tally.

On the bright side the defense is playing about as well as they can possibly play especially whjen you consider the number of freshmen getting meaningful minutes. I hope Manny Diaz sticks around for a while.

That’s the only reason I haven’t had much to say about our offense. For the first few weeks I figured we were keeping it vanilla for a reason.. then came GT.. and not much changed, hoped then it was the same thing.. then Saturday happened. He did nothing to break loose the press man. No pre snap motion. No shifts. Nothing. Seldom tried to pick on their linebackers with Herndon or Njoku.. then there was Ermon F’ing Lane playing at safety but we didn’t go at him hard? FOR REAL?

I’d long wondered if the powers that be at UGA TOLD him to delegate rather than he choosing to do so himself. I remember explosive offenses with FSU and early in his Georgia career, up to Stanford era. Ultimately he could be Mike Martz but this OL is worse than the turd we fielded in 09 IMO

Teams overload one side on XPs for every kick. You can’t change up the way you line up or they will just overload the other side.

No fault here on the formation, it was lack of execution by the linemen. You ALWAYS have heads up inside responsibility on XP coverage in that situation because the inside is the quickest way to the kicker. Any inside penetration is on the OL.

I have said this for a couple years now, this O will always stuggle in spots due to Kayaa’s inability to move the chains with his feet or get out of the pocket to change the launch point of his throws.

It’s just a fact and will continue to be as long as he is here.

All pockets break down, especially under pressure. A perfect pocket against good teams is very rare and when every team in the country knows we have a fuggin house plant as a QB, that really puts the OL at a disadvantage…

I blame our Qb and play caller for what we have seen so far this yr and not the OL. They are good enough but put in terrible situations.

Nash totally agree, 4 is a lil killer and will be huge for us down the road.

And how about Corn…can’t say enough about how this kid has progressed and what he means to this team.

Hurri Switzer kills everyone…he is what BB should be for us.

Kid is a gamer and catches everything thrown his way and makes that offense click and keeps the chains moving.

You just have to keep him contained because he is going to get his no matter what.

HUGE game coming up and just like Delray said, can’t get beat twice…

We had Frenchy in their sideline triage tent more than he was on the field and the kid showed up strong and balled with half of his head caved in.

Props to our D for being nasty and physical.

7 is the best DT we have had here in a looong time. Quick for his size, super strong at the point of attack and has a nasty streak in him. I love his game.

We have some long and athletic kids along the front line that can get after it.

And they are super young, which bodes well for the future.

How about Patchan making a cameo! Really nice to see him getting after it FINALLY! Kid showed a nice swim move and quickness pressuring Frenchy in the first qtr.

Someone close to the program leaked before the game that we would be very vanilla going into FSu because of limited practice time.

Richt and co showed a clear ability to recognize weaknesses, attack the, and ADJUST when the opposing team adjusts.

You’re not going to tell me Richt just forgot how to do that.

There is a clear disconnect between Richt, Kaaya, and the O-line.

Since when has Richt been an RPO coach? I like Rpos but they were never a part of Richts previous offenses.

Whats SAD TO ME IS HOW SHELL SHOCKED brad is.

How can a coach trust a qb, who has a bad oline, that makes dumb azz decisions in his pre snap reads?

Brad routinely makes bad reads, doesn’t maneuver in the pocket and never even attempts to run for a few yards.

I believe Richt will adjust but its not like he knows what these guys are capable of as he admitted he watched little to no tape of previous years because he wanted to give the team a clean slate.

For the record, mark Richt GAVE UP playcalling duties to let his longtime friend Mike BOBO get some much earned/deserved shine.

I refuse to believe the game has passed up one of the better offensive coordinators of the last 20 years.

All I know is soon as we off probation we need to drop a bag or two or five on Leatherwood’s doorstep to get him away from Bama, keep Donaldson from going elsewhere and get Telfort to go away from UF. Those three would go a long way toward improving the Canes OL. Donaldson is an absolute animal. Wouldn’t be uncomfortable saying he’d get serious time even as a freshman. Having the clodhopper back there does more harm to them than good. If they had a qb with a hint of athletic ability, they would look much better and so would the offense… I can guarantee you that.

Hurri lol Crystal Coley taps himself out after any throw to him, whether it is caught or not.

He hits the ground and he needs an automatic TO. They should just have a medical tent ready to go, just for him.

    Its that simple…

Some kids have the dog in them and some don’t.

The mobility is a must these days. It not only helps the passing game but also helps the running game as well, when there is a threat from the qb to take off. The D has one more read to make and that second makes all the difference.

KB, I mean I honestly don’t know if the game has passed him by or what. Yeah he did work with Charlie Ward and with Shockley at UGA.. but he also won a championship with Weinke and you couldn’t stick dynamite up his ass and blow him out of a pocket, collapsing or not. All I know is I’ve NEVER seen him run so much of one type of offense, ever. His time at FSU was kinda a spreadish type of offense that occasionally used a fullback. Not real well versed on what he ran during his PC years at UGA..

I mean, conspiracy theories aside; it’s almost like he’s putting writing on the wall for N’Kosi Perry to come and run this same offense.. which would be amazing IMHO. Land Donaldson, possibly flip Telfort and grab another OL or two and we instantly have a better line.

Nobody was more disappointed in Miami’s offensive effort yesterday than Mark Richt. A source told CanesInSight that he was particularly hard on himself this morning and he will be assessing the way that he’s been calling games. Part of Miami’s struggles offensively can be attributed to the players, but Richt knows that the game plan must be better”.
    —————————————————————————————————–

Damn sure hope he gets it fixed. I dont know if I can take more “it starts with me”, “I gotta get it fixed”, and “we must uphold the standard” and then still the same old bullshit out on the field.

  102. avatar

    CaneFanKb

    October 18, 2016

Only thing that can fix this is hiring a real OC, which of course won’t happen until the end of the season, IF it happens at all. He alone can’t fix these offensive issues that Miami is having. Let’s see if he gets his head removed from his @$$! Richt may be costing Kaaya draft position.

    Bennie,

even if he is setting things up for Perry, he will still be a true freshman next year and so the jury is out on how he will develop/progress and be ready to take the reigns. that is a foolish way to go about coaching.

    October 18, 2016

The OL sucks. Plain and simple. With Kaaya also having the foot speed of Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump, that doesn’t help at all. The D is playing out of their minds, can’t ask for too much more from them, esp. with the injuries and depth and youth – like Canez1 and others have pointed out, the future with these young killas is exciting

I hate those turkey f*ckers up in Blacksburg. I’ll tell you one thing that won’t happen in that game, the Canes D won’t be lined up in some sh*tbrained formation where the QB will be able to look around, laugh his ass off pre-snap b/c he knows he’s up to just keep the ball and run up the middle for an 80 yard TD

At this point I don’t see miami winning the coastal, so I’m not terribly worried about how Thursday goes. FAU/FSU/UNC have laid the blueprint on how to stymy a huge part of Miami’s offense and its be crazy to think one of the best dc’s in the ACC isn’t considering doing the same.

  108. avatar

    October 19, 2016

I was upset with the lack of throws to WRs against UNC, but its more about the lack of throwing period. We are having success with #23 and #86 so why not go to them more often? They could do the Patriots offense of having the 2 TEs lead the team in receptions with the RBs getting a lot of catches too and I’d have no problem with that. Anything but the non stop draw plays.

And Kaaya does seem like he should have been in the concussion protocol or something. Dude has missed so many passes that he just doesn’t miss in the past. #86 had an easy TD on that 4th down attempt if he makes a decent throw. Instead he completely throws it behind him and its a turnover on downs.

  109. avatar

    Canez1

    October 19, 2016

    Este, I totally agree…

What ever happened to throwing to our RBs, they are fantastic receivers and also the WR screens on the perimeter?

Great ways to ease pressure in the box by forcing teams to respect the perimeter and wear a defense down.

They have disappeared for some reason and were a big reason for our success on O early on this season.

    Nash LOL, right!?!

We were executing screens pretty well earlier in the season and then dropped them completely starting with FSU.

They are basically extended runs and if you can block in the box, spread it out and hit the perimeter.

Mix that shyt up and get after it.

    CRIPES!!!

If you are going to run this type of O then run that shyt to the fullest and not the dry azz version we trot out there with Frankenkaaka.

How about some motion, fake jet sweeps, shifts…ANYTHING to make the D think about something else.

I am giving the Rev a pass here because he is getting into the play calling game again after being out for so long and all of these kids are fairly new to him and he still has to figure out how to use these kids and what they are made for and cut out to be.

Tough spot but I always give new coaches some leash.

    October 31, 2016

For all of the issues the O-line has, that last sack was 100% on Kaaya. No matter how good your offensive line is, you only get a few seconds to make your read(s)and get the ball out of your hands, this is true whether in college or the nfl. I watched a clip of the final play and he held the ball for about 4.5 seconds, which is way way too long. To make matters worse, he was sacked on a delayed blitz by the LB, and it wasn’t off the edge or on his blind side, but straight up the middle. The LB dropped back into zone, waited for a few seconds then came right at Kaaya in front of his face to get the sack to end the game. That is 100% on Kaaya.

His pocket presence has been less than stellar. James Coley was literally the Kaaya whisperer it seems like. And for as bad as the OL is Kehoe was getting more out of them it feels like.. shockingly.

Greentree I had my eye on Linder all game and that dude got mauled almost every play.

I thought Linder was going to be an animal here coming out of HS but kid is just not strong enough at this point to deal with big boy DTs or NTs.

He lost us that game single handidly and got bytched by a bigger and stronger dude. You have constant penetration and push right up the middle and nothing you call will work.

I haven’t seen anything like that in a while but FSU’s center came close, that dude was abused all game long. FSU’s OL is only slightly better than ours but they have a talented and tough as shyt QB that can extend plays when needed and not fold in the pocket when he smells someone near him. Kid steps up and makes the throw regardless of the smashing he takes.

We got 2 qtr Kaaka again and you just can’t come and play half a game and expect to win.

ND is much better than their record but we still blew it.

    I said I couldn’t take another L but…

One thing I did like is the kids never quit and fought back after getting slapped in the mouf. My one takaway.

Another tough one coming up this Sat but I like us at home at noon.

Hopefully it is 100 degrees and jungle humid. We can use every advantage we can get.

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

It’s feels like it a 💯 degree here. #52 was literally getting body slammed in the trenches….sad. Maybe I’m missing or not seeing it, but I’d think Richt would go more max protection in obvious passing situations??? I thought weeks ago Kayaa was punch drunk from the 1st hit of the noles game and watching the pass rush. now I’m sure of it with Richts comments about trusting the protection will be there and keeping his eyes down field.

I think Yearby needs to be starting. Walton misses too many holes. Can’t miss them like that when you don’t get a lot of them to work with.

Every time #57 is in the game we have problems. Still a team full of dumb players. Terrible penalties at terrible times…

No doubt Nash, dummies all over the field but that is going to take some time to fix.

Offense looked like they ran what they should’ve been running all season long.

    Its about time…

I knew the young D kids were going to have a tough time with this funky offense. I watched them play Vtech and they run all types of shyt to keep the D off balance.

I thought we should run something similar but like Nash said, too many dummies on our end.

Good win and we have to build on it and finish strong here.

Can’t collapse down the stretch, like we have done for as long as I can remember.

We will see what these coaches and team is made of from here on out.

Must build some good momentum for the off season recruiting and into next yr.

Keep running this style of offense and we should be good, as our D continues to get healthy.

    GO CANEZ!!!!!

DID like what I saw from the offense for the most part even if the run game was again stagnant.. and the Pitt passing d was the worst in the nation.. but still. 51 points. Can’t complain.

I know most of my people on here are more stable than some of the idiots that are straight crying and seeking shelter over elections.. but just wanna make sure everybody out there alright — this run has got people acting straight ignorant.

We good Bennie. Some people need to realize that what they get out of life doesn’t correlate to who the president is. It’s hard work and effort. Nobody is going to give you something on a silver platter. You have to earn it. And if it wasn’t earned you will not appreciate it as much.

    Now…BEATVA!
